If you use the "dehumidification" mode, you must attach a cut-off section of a garden hose to the upper drain plug located on the back of the unit and drain the water that accumulates into a bucket! Why didn't she say that?...lame!

14,000 BTU is more powerful then 10,000 BTU...yeah? Yes I think so! For a larger space.

Do you really need the tube attached? I live in a apartment so having the hose outside in not a good idea and I will only be using the AC feature. Would love it if anyone could answer me! Thanks!

The Clairvoyant Healer you need it to go outside otherwise your would bring hot air in you need a swamp cooler for the apartment look up swamp cooler

Since you don't want or cannot vent the hot air out of your apartment thru a window you could try an "Evaporative Air Cooler"; they don't require a hose or window to vent the hot air to the outdoors. Evaporative coolers use cold water & ice to chill the air...sizes range from small to the size comparable with the units they're showing here...from very inexpensive for small units to fairly pricey like the larger portable AC units. Possibly a good option in your current situation. I'm getting one for my kitchen as there's no place to vent in that area of my home and gets very hot.
