It’s definitely a bit far off from what’s typical. A bit lacking in content. What I would consider typical: “Hello. How are you?” “I’m doing alright. It’s xyz season, y’know?” “Right, right.” “Tough, yeah. What about you?” “Nothing in particular’s going on, so I’m good.”

Akkie is my favourite person to listen to speak Japanese. I know a lot of people have complimented how clearly he speaks before, but it's that he speaks clearly while also sounding very natural. When you listen to Listening Comprehension Tests, they often don't sound natural, and I think that makes them harder to understand. They don't sound human. Whereas, I could listen to Akkie speak all day and understand way more about what he's saying. Thanks for another great video!

I think its not wrong. I was teaching Japanese for high school, and i just tell them what is written in the text book because what is in the text book are "just for introduction" or "first step" to understand the other step, i think its allright because what is written in text book are from Japanese education ministry so its allright to tell them the basic and let them discover it later when they have enough knowledge about Japanese language. Why im telling they what was in the text book, because, if you tell them many things like this they will confuse about the lesson that we give to them so just telling them the simple way of it.

I've studied Japanese on and off for about 6 years, and still never really managed to get comfortable introducing myself. In Sweden, in any kind of situtaion you can basically just say "Hej"+ your name and you're set, so the Japanese 自己紹介 is too damn complicated for me haha. This helped a lot, thanks :)

in my opinion, it's case to case basis.. the "bookish" style of 自己紹介 sounds more like a short speech.. so i guess it can be used to introduce urself in a formal occassions.. the style of self introduction presented here is more natural and sounds more casual.. so i guess it can be used for a casual exchange of self introduction..

I stopped learning Japanese after kindergarten bc we moved to the states, so some bigger vocabulary I don’t understand, but with the tone of voice I can generally get the gist of a sentence and piece it together. This was actually really easy to understand, even without knowing what some of the vocab meant, the way you spoke and the words surrounding them clicked in my head. What an amazing lesson to teach people, basic introduction - the natural way. Not textbook way.
