Love the plain talk style you use, you have a great way of communicating what you want to get across. Here's a few things that I think would be good things to revisit/deal with in mid 2022 - possibly something others would benefit from, I know I would. If you are a new entrant to the hobby (you'd need to cover multiple disciplines), would you go inav, betaflight, or Ardupilot (given the software leapfrog that always seems to happen, and the fact you say in this vid that you should choose this first before you choose a flight controller board). You covered TX, and a little bit of multiprotocol, but again if you were starting out today what RXes would you suggest.

Once in a year this list helps a lot to especially look for the new ones in the list if I might have missed some of your videos in the past. Always carefull curated and evaluated which helps a lot to find a way into the hobby with the better ones. I can remember hobbyking sales when the usual Walrus had been sold for 69$ or so which is now 120 $ but it might be just a matter of time cause all chinese companies are depending on growth and growth in a saturated market or with low demand due to recession fears will restart the competition for price leadership. If they wanna keep growing they can only choose the price battle cause they are not really capable of doing real marketing and creating a desire except maybe DJI. So I hope the prices will go down. What I had missed a bit was the ELRS topic and open HD which you had mentioned in the slide but did not spoke about. Just to mention as preparation for the next years slides: AR Wing deserves to mention the pro considering that the AR Wing without the Pro seems to had vanished in spring of 2022 when we were looking for a group buy for this years summer camp. Only AR Wing Pro was available before eastern.

My comments on the ARWing were about the PRO. Sorry if that wasn't clear. More videos on HD systems coming soon as the market gets more competitive and check out my ExpressLRS series fair lots of detail.. happy flying!

Best of luck with the Mars. Its an awful fixed wing. With the worst tip stall tendency I have experienced in my decades of RC modeling. It has no problem going into a flat spin or nose in spiral. And takes full rudder to recover it. It requires a very hard throw to launch it. And its 50:50, even with auto launch. Keep the weight low below 1200g is my recommendation. My is 1600g. Considering how much it costs, it has very few good points and I regret the purchase.

any recommendations on go-to components? servos are a particular minefield I find; with sizes and splines all inconsistent, and seemingly a lot of counterfeit ones or just questionable QC..? I've got a handful of emax es08ma ii's on their way from 3dxr on the recommendation of the wing racing guys but would be interested to know your thoughts

I use EMAX and Hitech a lot here. It isnt worth using cheap Ebay servos from eBay unless you are prepared to test them a lot before installation and expect stripping and failures... happy flying!

Thanks for this video. Were the Draks not popular; why would they retire a successful model? Why, in general, are models retired? Thanks!

Models come to the end of their life for lots of reasons. Uneconomical, unpopular, business changes. Always a shame when a great model gets impossible to get... Happy flying

I love the Matek stuff. The 3 boards I have are now not made anymore, but are only a year old!. They are no longer on the Matek site. Which is amazing. I went to order another f405se. No luck.🤤

A lot of the matek workhorses changed in the last year. Driven by chip shortages and innovation with things like ExpressLRS. Sadly the new models are more expensive... happy flying!

Are you still using folding props on anything? I'm thinking of putting a 10" slower spinning prop on my Nano Drak to make it more efficient. But at that size it definitely needs to be a folding prop for landings.

Hi Mr. Lee. I've been watching your videos for about 2 months and I'm convinced that you know a lot about UAVs. I'm building a quadcopter for aerial filming using the Pixhawk 2.4.8 FC for my school project. I'd be really happy if you'd tell me some success criteria/must include features so that I can evaluate my product. I'd be a huge help.
@Painless3602 жыл бұрын
Sure, I'm not sure I can what you need. Can you elaborate?

ZOHD/Sonic Modell..they've been asleep at the wheel for some time. The Drift was probably their last best product (IMO). No new kopilot. They do appear to be active in the community. One of the pros of ZOHD/Sonic Modell was that they put pretty good ESCs, Motors, and in some cases servos in their models. Hee Wing seems to be upping the game a little bit.
@Painless3602 жыл бұрын
Things seemed to go awry when a chap called Ari left ZOHD, he was a great guy, drove the community interaction and was an innovator. I worked with him on the ARWing PRO design and had a blast. No updates to the terrible camera on the VC400 and no follow up to the KoPilot Lite. AtomRC and HEEWing are the innovators now, it's such a shame... happy flying!

Well pretty good list, have some of it, but alas the prices are just going too high, two projects to finish, DC-3 and my favorite pain YRF-4E so yes there are 4vplanes sitting about my work bench, first two that survive maiden win ...I seem to notice you look a touch rough today, hope all is well. Take care.
