Thanks a million for the clarification re Roman Catholic Doctrine of Justification vs the Apostle Paul and the Gospel. Bless you my dear brother. Justification is by FAITH ALONE IN THE FINISHED WORK OF JESUS THE CHRIST! PERIOD! 😮
@Alfredo8059

The Apostle Paul never ever taught justification by faith alone since faith alone, before or apart love, is nothing ( 1 Cor. 13:2). The finished work of Jesus Christ is not faith alone: " was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification." Rom. 4:25.

As a former Catholic I feel so free not being in the bondage of works, working for my salvation... that salvation is the gift of God. I'm free free at last. And as one of the Rev.'s from my old Catholic Church said of me that I jumped the fence. Yes I jumped the fence to Freedom in my Lord and Savior JESUS...

Blessings on you.. The scriptures and the Primitive Church are on the side of the Protestant Reformers. Here from 120 AD, and from someone who may have known an apostle. “He himself took on Him the burden of our iniquities. He gave His own son a ransom for us, the holy One for transgressors, the blameless One for the wicked, the righteous One for the unrighteous, the incorruptible One for the corruptible, the immortal One for the mortal. For what other thing was capable of covering our sins than His righteousness. By what other one was it possible that we, the wicked and the ungodly, could be justified, than by the only Son of God? O sweet exchange! O unsearchable operation! O benefits surpassing all expectation! That the wickedness of many should be hid in a single righteous One, and that the righteousness of One should justify many transgressors!” [Epistle to Diognetus 1X, circa 120 AD-emphasis added]

@@DougWarner25 The hallmark of the Reformation and the New Testament is this: Salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. God saves us by His grace. We receive His grace when we put our faith in Christ as the One who died for our sins and rose from the dead on our behalf. We cannot work for our salvation nor earn it through any human merit. @@EugeneVerster First, while I'm Catholic, I don't agree with the rude tone of the fellow commentator who opposed the Protestant position. One key difference between Protestant and Catholic doctrine is that Catholic doctrine, you could say, declares salvation by CHARITY alone (for Charity includes faith, but not vice-versa as taught by Paul in 1 Cor 13) and, as Paul declares in that same chapter, Charity is not rude. To say that we are given grace BECAUSE we make an act of faith is to say that we are saved by a work, namely, the act of faith. But, the fact is, that no work of ours merits the initial grace. Rather, it is grace that gives us the virtues of faith, along with hope and, the queen of all virtues, Charity. And, in the end, as Christ shows in Matthew 25 (and elsewhere), we'll be judged on Charity. "If I have faith to remove mountains, but have not Charity, I am nothing." Living faith, which is to say faith enlivened by Charity, virtues in the soul given to us by God's grace, not our works, is what saves us. "Sola caritate", Charity alone (for Charity includes faith and hope, but not conversely).

The reason Christ took on your sins, is only because God has chosen you before the foundation of the world...to be conformed to the image of the Son of God. This is why you are Justified by faith alone. After justification then you move or go on to works, which show you have been Justified and not to be Justified...Sprouls and the Reformers never said you believe and then go sin...this is what you hear from oppositions. It is faith that move you to work...if you had no faith, you will not work...and this faith is given by God by grace alone...free gift.

He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. JN14:21 Let no man deceive you, he that doeth righteousness is righteous even as he is righteous. 1JN3:7 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity (Gr. Anomia ie lawlessness). Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. @@Over-for-now You wrote *_"we absolutely rest in the finished work of Jesus"_* Really? what do you suppose those verses I quoted ("he that overcometh . . . " etc) are all about? Just coasting to salvation? What do you suppose these warnings from Peter are about? ■ "Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ." (2 Peter 1:10,11) ■ "Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling." (Philippians 2:12) And by the way, those verses in Revelation were addressed to gentile churches ("To the church in Ephesus. . . " etc) -not to "the remant of Israel." Jesus' work is not finished: He is at work right now. Jesus says: ■ "As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent." (Jesus, in Revelation 3:19) Jesus finished work on the cross was to make His blood *_available_* to cover the death penalty we earn for sin. We'll have that promised redemption IF we'll obey and come to God in repentance, as commanded: ■ "And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent" (Acts 17:30) ■ "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy." (Proverbs 28:13) ■ "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord" (Acts 3:19, NKJV). ■ "Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works." (Titus 2:14) You wrote *_"That's the only way God will accept for entrance into heaven."_* Sorry, there's NO promise in the Bible we spend eternity in heaven. @@WorthlessDeadEnd On the cross Jesus made His blood *_available_* to cover the death penalty we earn for sin (re: Romans 6:23). That's what He came to do (re: Matthew 20:28) and that's what He finished on the cross. But His work is not finished. Right now -today- He advocates with the Father on behalf of those who obey and come to Him in repentance. While they abide in Him in repentance, following the holy spirit, their redemption by His blood is ongoing, and they remain "in his goodness" (re: Romans 11:22) or grace -in *_justification,_* not under condemnation. And right now -today- He leads them out of slavery to sin and into His righteousness, preparing them for eternal life as the Father's sons and daughters. ■ "Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works." (Titus 2:14) ■ "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord" (Acts 3:19, NKJV). ■ "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous" (1 John 2:1) ■ "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." (1 John 1:7) ■ "As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent." (Jesus, in Revelation 3:19) ■ "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." 1- Rom.4:5, the point of Romans is that someone can become right with God without being circumcised, not that righteousness before God comes through faith alone. See Gal. 5:6: "For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love." . You have TO RECEIVE the theological virtue of charity (love of God) . Charity unites us to God, and so, if one has faith COMBINED with charity then one has "faith working through love" which is what Paul says counts in Christ ( Gal 5:6) 2. Eph. 2:8-9. You have to read it in context:"Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)" Eph 2:5 . To be quickened means you are able to love as God wants us to love. "Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for SHE LOVED MUCH:" Luke 7:47. Charity is not our work but God's work in us. Faith isn't our work but God's work in us, cretaed in us by the Holy Spirit, so that justification is through faith without our own works. Martin Luther added the word "ALONE" obscuring the reality that faith without charity is NOTHING (1 Cor. 13:2). " If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema" 1 Cor. 16:22; "To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life" Rom. 2:7-10; As you can see Luther's Sola Fide contradicts Paul and the entire Bible: " Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, throughSANCTIFICATION of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.". For the Early Church Fathers any justification that is not woven together with sanctification is not justification at all. Martin Luther contradicted the early Church Fathers and the Bible to impose his un-biblical faith alone doctrine that leads to twist the whole Bible for those who believe Luther . God bless you

Remember that Christ does not only die for our sin but he also live for our righteousness. When we steal, Christ didn't, If we lie, Christ didn't. Things you failed to obey Christ did perfectly. That is why we are clothed in his Righteousness. James didn't talk about salvation he talks about the product of faith. Even James told us that when we obey all the law, yet stumble at one point we are guilty of all then how can we add our works when we are guilty of all, even once. Remember that Gods standard is perfect. We do good works for the love of God in saving us, not to earn our salvation. All the credits is for God alone, he demonstrated his works of salvations many time in the old testament. So when Gods judgement is fullfiled we will be justified by works also, but not our own works, it is Christ works who represents us before God. Then how can we obtain Christ works, Just trust him. Faith alone in Christ alone.

Love RC. This doctrine is under vicious attack. We see two men arguing over this doctrine. We forget that we don't fight against flesh and Blood, but against doctrines of demons. Why does Ligonier never talk about that. Flesh against flesh. Or is something really going on here. We need to pray for the Church today, hard 🙏. People are destroyed for lack of knowledge. 1- Rom.4:5, the point of Romans is that someone can become right with God without being circumcised, not that righteousness before God comes through faith alone. 13:2). @@waywardson717 ah.....the go to protestant verse Luke 23:39-43 And one of the malefactors, which were hanged railed on him, saying, of thou be Christ, save thyself and us But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds, but this man hath done nothing amiss. And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily, I say unto thee, to day shalt thou be with me in paradise. The thief showed his faith. Now it appears he only showed his faith without works....but he didn't. He obviously believed in Jesus. But he also accepted his punishment. The other thief did not want to accept his due punishment, that's why he called out Jesus to save them.....he attempted to put Jesus to the test.....that's a no no That thief showed he had no faith in Jesus. The thief who Jesus favored, showed his faith and on his cross, that thief accepted his punishment for what he did. He didn't ask Jesus to save him, he lowered, humbled himself to accepting his cross. And he simply asked Jesus not to save him but to remember him. The thief did not have faith alone.....he showed it by not complaining of bearing his cross. He showed it by not tempting Jesus. He showed it by humbling himself to asking Jesus to just remember him and taking him with Jesus to his kingdom. The thief also showed that he feared God when he rebuked the other thief. Every protestant I've met, refused to accept their cross. They believe that Jesus took away their trials and suffering. And this causes their blindness to this verse....verses To the protestant, the thief displayed faith alone. When you analyze it........the thief actually showed his faith thru his actions. He rebuked the other thief, he showed fear of God, he acknowledges Jesus as Lord, he also acknowledges Jesus did both wrong, he accepts his punishment and doesn't complain about it and he didn't tempt Jesus. He just asked to be remembered And for this........ Jesus rewarded him because he SHOWED his faith. Again...... Show me your faith without works and I will show you my faith thru my works. @Josh Huh, it's not a misinterpetation you say? What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled," without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. That's James 2:14-17. How about this to bring more context, just further down? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar? You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by his works; and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, "Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness"-and he was called a friend of God. You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. James 2:21‭-‬24 Abraham did good works and it was counted to him as righteousness? Abraham was baptized and it was counted to him as righteousness? Abraham believed and it was counted to him as righteousness. What made him righteous? Believing. Tell me, if Abraham said he trusted God but did not go to offer Isaac, did he really trust God? If you were on an airplane and you had to jump off, would you say "I trust the parachute" but not put it on? If you tell someone, "go in peace, be warmed and filled", but you don't give them bread or let them enter your house, do you truly wish that for them? If you take the verses of James in context, you see that salvation is by faith - true faith, not just in your words but evidenced by your actions. Only faith saves, not works. Faith can, and should, be evidenced by works, but only faith saves. I know, the Sacraments. Take note, bud, that the RCC says that the Sacraments are necessary for salvation. Does that sound like faith evidenced by works or faith and works? Ephesians 2:8-10 says this more clearly. Care to give your interpretation of that? Now, don't twist it. In context.

First Corinthians 15:1-4 That CHRIST DIED FOR MY SINS, according to the scriptures, That He was buried and rose again on the third day, according to the scriptures. Did Jesus pay for all my sins? YES. First John 2:2 And He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only, but for the sins of the whole world. And it is to everyone that believeth. Once we believe it we are sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise. Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after ye heard the word of truth, the GOSPEL of your salvation; in whom also AFTER ye believed, ye were sealed by that Holy Spirit of promise. BORN AGAIN. John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me, HATH ETERNAL LIFE. What part of eternal life do you not believe? Heaven is not a reward for good behavior, but a GIFT from God. John 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, and we all sin, ( except for the self righteous hypocrites) First John 1:8 but the GIFT of God is eternal life. What do you have to do for a free gift? Nothing, Just accept the gift by faith alone in Christ alone. John 10:28-29 And I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. And my Father who is greater than all, no one can pluck them out of His hand. Double eternal security. John 6:37 He will never cast us out. Hebrews 13:5 He will never leave us or forsake us. You either have eternal life or you don't. The reason you don't, is because you have not believed. John 3:18 I can no longer be condemned because I have believed. First John 5:13 Since I believed on His name I have eternal life. For those who believe the Gospel, that all our sins are paid for forever, I will see you in heaven

No one can merit the INITIAL grace of justification: it is completely grace. HOWEVER, and this is where the Church differs with some in Protestantism [in its varying stripes], the Church considers 'salvation' an umbrella term which includes ALL that is involved in God's saving work [all of creation, man's fall into sin, God's covenant with the People of God of ancient Israel, Christ's redeeming incarnation, sinless life, passion, death, resurrection and ascnesion into heaven, the descent of the Holy Spirit into the Church AND our personal appropriation of the saving effects of God's work in our lives: repentance from sin, faith in Jesus Christ, baptism, regeneration, justification, sanctification - 'Salvation' is ALL OF THAT. It is an economy a covenant, hat we enter into and participate in. Our initial justification is based solely on God's grace and faith in it, but our ONGOING JUSTIFICATION, which, again, the Church sees as a process which occurs throughout our earthly pilgrimage, DOES INCLUDE our graced co-operation in good works which "God has prepared beforehand that we should live in them" [cf. Ephesians 2: 10].

Justification comes first, then comes good works: For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Eph2:8-10 Interesting how you left the first part out. Justification is complete the moment one believes. 5 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we1 have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 5:1
@ponti5882
@ponti5882 3 жыл бұрын
@@halohadel he left it out because it isn’t particularly relevant to his point. What is meant by justification? Catholic teaching isn’t opposed to the teaching that we are justified by faith. It teaches that. But faith ***alone*** was added by Luther, and an extreme interpretation of this is heretical and not biblical. He cites Ephesians because it demonstrates that while sanctifying grace is essential, it is not the only element needed for salvation, hence the emphasis on verse 10. “If any one says, that man is truly absolved from his sins and justified, because that he assuredly believed himself absolved and justified; or, that no one is truly justified but he who believes himself justified; and that, by this faith alone, absolution and justification are effected; let him be anathema.” - Council of Trent As QuisuitDeus mentioned, Catholic tradition actually defines and distinguishes what is understood by salvation and justification, that it is an ongoing process into the future when our Lord calls us to heaven. Protestant thought is focused solely on the past tense of being “saved” in the Bible. But the Bible utilizes salvation in the past, present, and future. Luther’s 95 Thesis sort of addresses this problem because it calls for repentance generally, but a strict sola fide principle isn’t just heretical, it’s untenable. James 2:14-26 tells us well (another Book Luther wanted to be rid of). Even the devils believe, yet they are not saved. They do not lean on grace. They do not repent. They do not love. Grace, repentance, faith, hope, and charity. All are incorporated. Sola fide is only rejected if it denies grace and the sacraments of Christ’s New Commandment. Justification is conferred in baptism, the sacrament of faith. But salvation involves more than just that. The rejection of extreme sola fide is not then a support of some sola opera. Christ’s Church simply corrects that one shouldn’t lean simply on their belief, their baptism, as a crutch for salvation. The free and undeserved grace we receive through faith in baptism is a prerequisite. Read James. And read the Bible understanding it’s context. Luther and Protestants misunderstand the purpose for which Paul was writing in his letter to the Romans. He doesn’t address “works” in a general sense of good deeds but in relation to adherence to Jewish laws (e.g. circumcision) and their relation to gentiles. Romans isn’t about salvation by works as Luther or Protestants understand it.

Thank you Dr Sproul, yes i agree that salvation is by (living) faith alone. With that in mind, Luther considered the Large Catechism as his most important work next to the Bondage of the Will. The Decalogue is a light to our feet, not to justify, but to guide Christian life. In my opinion it would be a good idea to reform the Decalogue as written in Luthers Large Catechism, that is to reinstate the Biblical Decalogue to the Christian Church, Its time to remove the charge of Judeaizing from the Biblical Decalogue. SDAs have done this, but we do have a problem with Sola Fide, hopefully this will be resolved soon in favor of salvation by faith alone.

faith alone can be confusing, the way i see it, if we think that in order to be saved we need to contribute 1% of our own merit to the atonement Jesus gives us, then we deny that Jesus a 100% Savior. what do you think?
@MrKev1664
@MrKev1664 7 жыл бұрын
Hey Henry Peace be with you I think we need to obey Jesus, he is the way. He paid the price for our sins. The price for sin is death (Romans 6:23) which he paid on our behalf. Without obedience to Christ he tells us we do not love him (John 14:23-24) It is by adding love to our Faith that it is made complete as St Paul tells us Faith without Love is useless. (1 Cor 13:2) Works in no way pay the price for our sin, what they do is complete our faith (James 2:22) Grace comes from Jesus Christ though faith but not faith alone but one infused with love of our Lord Jesus Christ (Gal 5:6) We cannot take credit or boast that we paid the price but “To those who by perseverance in doing good seek glory, honor, and immortality, He will give eternal life.” (Romans 2:7) Doing good means obeying the teachings Jesus gave us and he gave us many specifically linked to our salvation. Jesus tell us we must do the Fathers Will to be saved (Matt 7:21), and everything Jesus taught was the Father Will. This is the teaching of Jesus, St Paul, and St James. Each must make sense with the other. That is why it is the teaching of the Catholic Church, the whole bible is true. I am sorry there is no faith alone the easy path only leads to destruction. (Matt 7:13-14) We deny Christ if we choose to believe something different than what he taught. (Matt 10:33)Jesus says "Why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ but not do what I say?" (Luke 6:46) God bless you

Thank you for attaching obedience to faith in Jesus, i agree with you. i looked up the teaching of the Catholic Church regarding the Biblical Decalogue, and to my surprise the Church teaches that the Decalogue is immutable, and binding on Christians. as i understand it was at the Council of Nicea decided to change the Decalogue so as not to Judeaize Christians. In my opinion now in the 21st century we need to reconcile with our Jewish brethren. And the best way to do this is to reinstate the Biblical Decalogue in the Church. If this is done i will not quibble to much about words or phrases

Analogy... when we say FAITH (noun) spiritually, it becomes a "Collective NOUN," like the words Family, Band, Household, Company, Legion, Squad, etc... Although the Collective Noun is in the SINGULAR Form, the context meaning is in PLURAL Form... Husband and Wife is not a FAMILY, but a COUPLE... TRUE FAITH does not come only from BELIEVING without Works of the Law that we can boast of, but it also comes from REPENTING, ACCEPTING, and through BAPTISM... after we are BORN AGAIN in SPIRIT called CHRISTIANS, that is the TIME, we need to practice and obey the LAW of Christ Jesus... "Love God will all your Hearts, Mind, Soul and Strength" ... and... "Love your Neighbors/foes alike as you love yourself."... Did Christ say, "Anyone who BELIEVES in ME is SAVED?... NOPE!... Christ said, "Anyone who BELIEVES in ME shall/will be SAVED (Eternal Life)."... Christ Jesus used the FUTURE PERFECT TENSE... and not PRESENT TENSE... Therefore, after BELIEVING in Christ Jesus by the Grace of God are we already saved?... Nope, unless we are dying in our bed like the thief on the cross, then we are SAVED... SALVATION is a PROCESS... by just BELIEVING in Christ Jesus by God's Grace without any WORK of the LAW that we can boast of, we acquire/gain FAITH with the "Promise of Salvation."... then, Christians must need/require to "CARRY (verb = action/work/deed) their CROSS (Trials/Test) and FOLLOW (Obey the WILL of God) ME (Christ Jesus),"... (ref. Matt. 16:24) The FULFILLMENT of the Promise of SALVATION is at the END of our LIFE journey on Earth... and not from the beginning the moment we Believe in Christ Jesus and have FAITH... Christ said, "Anyone (Christians) who ENDURES (hold on/steadfast) to the END, will be SAVED." (ref. Matt. 24:13)... So, while we are still waiting for OUR TIME to End on Earth, we need to WORK on our FAITH... we need a "WORKING FAITH," and not a "DEAD (Idle) FAITH." (ref. James 2:22)... Take Note: ... St. Paul taught in Romans 3:38, ... "A MAN (non-believer) is justified by FAITH apart from deeds/works of the LAW."... LAW of WHAT? The LAW given by God to Prophet Moses in the O.T. ... or... The LAW given by God to Christ Jesus in the N.T.?... answer... the LAW of Moses... The LAW of Christ must be practiced and obeyed "AFTER" we have FAITH in Christ Jesus by God's Grace, and not BEFORE... that's what St. Paul meant. The TASK (works/deeds/acts) that Christ Jesus commanded us to DO for our NEIGHBORS/FOES alike... "WORKING FAITH" and not "DEAD (Idle) FAITH." Facts and Truth of the Matters, Biblically and Logically speaking... Praise be to God in Christ Jesus... Amen.

Hey Amanda peace be with you Sorry Amanda if Jesus teachings is not part of you Gospel you are preaching a false Gospel. After he resurrection Jesus says "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you."(Matt 28:19-20) He did not tell them to teach them something different. I am a Christian, I follow Christ. Jesus knew he would die for us so he was teaching what we needed to do to be saved. You have distorted St Paul's teaching into something they are not (2 Peter 3:15-16) Your faith is built on Sand (Matt 7:24-27) Faith in Jesus Christ is faith that he will save us if we obey him. St Paul's teachings must reconcile to Jesus and the does if you read the bible properly You become aware you have a part to play in your own salvation there is no such thing as faith alone and the path is not an easy one (Matt 7:13-14) Holy Spirit guide you

The English word "BELIEVE" (verb) in the Spiritual context and meaning is like a Collective Noun (ex. Family, Company, Choir, Herd, etc.) which comes with 3 Components for the Salvation of Mankind, "By GRACE of God through FAITH in Christ Jesus that manifests in good/righteous WORKS." Therefore, in conclusion, the Spiritual Formula/Equation for Mankind Salvation is... [ GRACE (+) FAITH (x) WORK (=) SALVATION ]... (ref. John 3:15 / 3:36 / 11:25-26 /James 2:1-24 )... While St. Paul's letter to the Ephesians (ref. Eph. 2:8-9) means that Personal WORKS (Efforts) ALONE can not SAVE us... But for our "WORKS" (efforts) to be accepted as Righteous in the Eyes/Sight of God... "WORK" must come first with "GRACE" of/from God through "FAITH" in Christ Jesus... That is the ORDER of SALVATION (Grace, Faith, and Work) for Father God/YHWH is a "God of ORDER" and not of Chaos or Confusion... (ref. 1 Corin. 14:33)... Facts and Truth, Biblically and Logically speaking... Praise be to God in Christ Jesus... Amen.

No add-ons to the Gospel! No legalism! No Antinomianism! Morality plus Christ is a false Christ and therefore a false gospel. Lawlessness plus Christ is a false Christ and therefore a false gospel. Christ alone is sufficient to forgive all of our sins and justify us eternally in the sight of God. His blood is enough to satisfy all of Gods wrath and righteousness. God is righteous and declares righteous the one who believes in Jesus (Rom. 3:26).

@@GeorgePenton-np9rh Consider the thief on the cross, the prodigal son, the tax collector, Abraham, King David, Samson, Mary Magdalena, Peter etc. The point is that neither our lawless deeds nor our obedience is relevant at the moment when we are being made right with God. Our only hope is in Christ's righteousness, not our own. Peter trusted in his own faithfulness and subsequently denied Jesus 3 times. Our lawless actions are not a barrier to salvation (e.g thief on the cross). Our obedience is not a means to salvation. We must produce good works and sin no more because we have been saved, not to be saved (e.g Mary Magdalene) Because we are human we might stumble & fall at times (e g. King David) If we confess our sin he is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (e.g prodigal son)

In St. Paul's time, Jewish converts to Christianity thought that non-Jews were not called to be Christians because they were deep in sin and did not do the works of the Law. Paul writes that the CALL to Christ is free and not earned by works. Anybody is allowed to become Christian even if he is deep in sin because while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. St. Paul writes that Abraham was called BEFORE he was circumcised and before he followed the Law. But after becoming Christians, we have to do good works of course. Paul is talking about the call to Christ being free and not earned. But after accepting the call, we must do good works.

Justification comes through faith in Christ and Him alone. We are DEAD in our sins and trespasses. A spiritual dead man can not do ANYTHING to please a HOLY RIGHTEOUS GOD. Abraham was counted righteous because he BELIEVED in God and because he believed in God his obedience to God followed thus his good works. His justification came from his faith in God NOT his good works and even the faith to please God he gives us EPH 2:89. So salvation is all of God NOT anything we can do or attribute to. But obedience or (good works) certainly will follow genuine biblical faith.

dc53 the Bible does not teach that good works or obedience will follow the Christian Life is says that it should as Ephesians 2:10 makes clear that verse says we should do good works it doesn't say that we will. not every Christian is going to do good works and they don't have to do good works to be saved or to Stay Saved or to prove that they are saved period and if they never do at the judgement seat of Christ they will lose all their Eternal rewards and their privilege of ruling with Christ in his Heavenly Kingdom but they are still saved as 1st Corinthians 3:15 and 2 Timothy 2:12-13 teach And if you teach that they will do good works otherwise they're not really saved you cancel the free gift of eternal life making it a reward for works because in fact your teaching they have to have works to truly be a Christian or saved you're just saying it a different way by saying they will have good works or obedience following their faith it's just another way of teaching Faith plus works

Isabel D in the past eternal life was given as a result of your faith in God and doing the works that he said to do for Abraham it was believing the good news that he would have many children and then later on offering Isaac up on the altar which completed his faith and it will be like that also during the Great Tribulation because during that time They will have to resist the mark of the beast not worship His image and endure until the end in order to be saved because if they don't they will commit the sin unto death and will permanently lose their salvation and not be able to get it back as Hebrews 6:4 1st John 5:16 revelation 14:9-12 talk about. but today according to the Apostle paul and the secret Revelations he got directly from the Lord Jesus Christ teach that it is no longer on the basis of that according to Romans 3:21 Romans 11:6 Romans 16:25 God has changed his dealings with people today on how they get saved because of the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ God is able to give it to people as a free gift without any human effort we do good works in order to get Eternal rewards and reign with Christ we don't do it to be saved in this dispensation like people had to do in the past and will have to do in the Great Tribulation

@Josh I believe a man is allowed to express negative feelings towards God as part of our Spiritual growth. Do you never argue with God in your thinking . God looks at a person's heart. God knows whats really in our hearts and that's what He changes at salvation. Yes protestants have abused children but never on the industrial scale of Catholicism. It is the cover-up that is the problem putting these evil men into other parishes to do the same thing to even more children. The whole Roman church is rotten to the core with corruption. There are millions of nice people who call themselves Catholic. The main problem is that they put Church tradition above God and the Bible. They are basically worshiping there own Roman god and reject the authority of Christ Jesus and the Bible taking upon themselves the worship of Mary, the queen of heaven and putting the pope in the place lf God.

Some Protestant Reformers believe that "BEFORE and AFTER" they received their FAITH in Christ thru GOD'S GRACE, that they DO NOT need ANY GOOD WORKS/DEEDS (Charity of Love)... But the vast majority of Christian Churches including Greek and Roman Catholics worldwide, believe only in "BEFORE" they receive "FAITH in Christ thru God's GRACE," which does not need any amount of Good Works/deeds (Charity of Love) or sacrifices (animal) or to follow any commandments of the Law of Moses for it is all useless to God, after Christ's sacrifice His own BLOOD and died on the Cross for the Sins of Mankind... for it is a FREE GIFT of God, just like our FREEWILL... But "AFTER" we (Christians) received our FAITH thru God's Grace, we need to follow and practice the Commandments of Christ about doing Good Works/Deeds (Charity of Love) for thy neighbors and foes alike... to MANIFEST/JUSTIFY our FAITH with our CHARITY OF LOVE... Christ said, (John 15/paraphrased)..."I AM (Christ) the True VINE, you are the BRANCHES (Believers/Christians), my Father is the GARDENER (God), anyone who is "ATTACHED" to the VINE (Christ) that does not BEAR FRUITS, even after the Gardener (God) had PRUNED the Branches BUT still does not BEAR FRUITS, will be CUT-OFF/TAKEN AWAY the Branch/es (believer/s) and THROW them in the FIRE (punishment of Hell/not saved)... Take note: BEAR FRUITS means to "DO" (verb=action) the CHARITY OF LOVE based upon Christ's Teachings and Commandments... For "FAITH ALONE without GOOD WORKS/DEEDS (Charity of Love) is a DEAD FAITH" (not saved)... James 2:14-26/paraphrased... St. Paul himself attested and wrote before he was executed (beheaded), that "St. Paul had RAN (done good work/deeds) to the FULLNESS (Fullest) to FINISH the RACE"... St. Paul's Epistle to the Romans was taken out of context and meaning by some Pastors... During the time of St. Paul preaching the Gospel, most of his audience are Gentiles and Jews, most of them knew the Law of Moses, that one must need to do GOOD Works and Animal Sacrifices in order to have favor or be accepted by God... but the New Gospel that St. Paul is teaching is the Law of Christ, that after Christ sacrifice His own Blood at the Cross, died, resurrected and ascended back to Heaven again... All good works/deeds and any Sacrifices are NO longer pleasing (useless) in God's Eyes... God wants us now, to believe, accept, repent, and baptize in the Holy Trinity, to Christ Jesus as our Savior/Messiah and the Son of God and Man, thru God's Grace "FIRST" without (NO) any Good Works, and Sacrifices (Law of Moses) required/necessary/needed for us to "BOAST OF"... that is the true context and meaning of St. Paul's Epistles (letters) to the Romans and Corinthians... But "AFTER" we received our FAITH in Christ thru the Grace of God, this is the time we are "ATTACHED" to the True/Real VINE (Christ) and we must/need to BEAR FRUITS (to do Good works/ pleasing to the Eyes of God, even if or after God had PRUNED the branches), we (Christians) must/should PICK UP (verb=Action) our own CROSS (LIFE's journey on Earth w/ Christ) and follow/ obey Christ... St. Paul set (made) an example for ALL OF US believers... "RUN (Verb=Works/Deeds) TO THE FULLEST TO FINISH THE RACE"... Facts and Truth, Biblically speaking... Amen.

MrKev1664 - But who can truly do the Father’s will before they are saved through faith in Jesus and regenerated by the Holy Spirit? Nobody.. Rom 3:10-18 People who do the Fathers will, do so BECAUSE they are saved. In the same way, a once old broken car ‘works’ because it has been (past tense) salvaged. It doesn’t have to ‘work’ to prove its worth salvaging (saving), or else, why does it need to be salvaged in the first place? Jesus himself said in Luke 6:43 ‘For a good tree does not bring forth bad fruit, nor a bad tree bring forth good fruit” How can an unregenerate, unsaved person who has not been saved and made righteous before God bring forth fruit (works) that are good, in order to then be saved? Also, Ezekiel 36:25-27 says ‘Then I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and you shall be clean, and from all your filthiness and from your idols. A new heart will I give you, and a new spirit with I out within you, and I will take away the stony heart put of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And will put my spirit with you and *cause* you to walk in my statues and you shall keep my judgements and do them” He will cause us to obey by making us a new creation and born again of God. But what Jesus asks of us is this, John 6:29 “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent” I hope this makes sense. God bless.

Where does the Spirit point your affections to, is it to your works, your faith, no it is to the cross of Calvary. Our justification is there, and it is by His faith. My faith is given to see the justification Christ earned and established at the cross. My faith does not make His work effectual, His work stands on its own and yielded a product. Matt 1:21 for He shall save His people from their sins. In John 19:30 when Christ cried it is finished, He finished what He was said to do in Matt 1:21. Real faith is always accompanied by actions, acts of faith, because faith can only be shown through actions. Repentance is an example of an act of faith. God is the one who acts in baptism and repentance. God changes the heart and turns our direction from our ways to His at repentance. At baptism God is the one who remits sin. Baptism and repentance does not earn salvation, but is necessary for salvation. If you were able to stop sinning, and you got baptized, but it wasn't motivated by faith in Jesus, then you would go to hell just like the worst sinner on earth, whoever that is. It is the work of God that makes repentance and baptism effective. You earn nothing by repenting a getting baptized, even though they are essential to salvation. Hey Rod Peace be with you Preists do not believe faith alone will save us . the bibles pretty clear on this You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone. (James 2:24) Faith is alone is te type of faith demons have. You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that-and shudder. Catholics believe faith must be accompanied by Love. (Gal 5:6) We believe that to love Jesus we must obey his teaching (John 14:23-24) That is why we must obey what Jesus tell us we must do to be saved. Why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ but not do what I say? (Luke 6:46) The Catholic Church may be the only Church all others seem to follow Man rather than Christ. God bless you

Luther's faith alone is not the same as Abraham's obedient faith alone. It is not an excellent lesson to contradict Scripture. 1- Rom.4:5, the point of Romans is that someone can become right with God without being circumcised, not that righteousness before God comes through faith alone.

@@Alfredo8059 Why are you using a more difficult to understand translation of the Bible, the KJV isn't an ultra holy translation. Did you listen to the video so the way through? Martin Luther had little to do with Justification by Faith alone, he just observed whats clearly taught by Scripture as a response to what the Catholic Church was doing, one of which was selling the forgiveness of sins through indulgences. Faith does not need modifier word of "Obedience". A true faith implies obedience, arguing otherwise is misrepresenting the justification by faith alone teaching. The thief in the cross didn't have any time to obey, his faith alone saved him but if he had more time on this earth it would have absolutely caused obedience to God.

➨FAITH ALONE (sola fide) is incorrect: REV 20:12...The dead are judged BY THEIR WORKS. James 2:18 Faith without works is dead Matt 19:17 Jesus tells us if we want to enter into Life, we must keep the commandments. James 2:24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. Philippians 2:12-13 Philippians 2:12-13...12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, WORK OUT YOUR OWN SALVATION WITH FEAR AND TREMBLING; 13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. In Matt 25, JESUS tells us to feed the poor, clothe the naked and do good for others. All this falls under the catagory of doing good works. Luke 16:19-30 The story of Lazarus and the rich man shows us that the rich man went to hell for refusing to help Lazarus who was poor and hungry. (He refused to do good works)

I do believe justification by faith alone, or the just shall live by faith, as faith is complete trust and duty to fulfill that trust. Faith brings in duty, or show of faith, or "walk in the steps of that faith" Romans 4:12. Romans 4:20-21 gives Abrahams faith more clarity the type of faith we must have in Jesus, Abraham had 'outlandish' promises from God, and Abraham showed he had faith and "he was able to perform". Similarly we should search the scripture for the promises of Jesus, and through complete trust and duty, perform or walk in the steps of that faith. The justification we must gain is from faith wherever faith is required; first that God will allow a sinner to be saved from living by faith in Jesus; then find the promises of Jesus to trust. I hear Pastors and preachers say that faith is set in 2 Corinthians 15:1-4, "that Christ died for our sins" and "that he rose again the third day", if you believe that then you are justified by faith, and this will enable you to do good works. But we have evidence for both parts as they were seen, and faith is in the "evidence of things not seen" as Hebrews 11:1. As Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15:3 "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received". This was simply an introduction through evidence to gain trust toward complete faith, we know he died and rose again, but what do we need to believe that we won't see? All Protestants as Mr Sproul have justification by God alone for faith in Jesus, whereas scripture clearly has Jesus as our judge of our faith as John 5:22, so we require his justification also. And his example of judging us by our works is shown by his letters, or epistles, to the seven churches in Revelation. The justification of God is automatic on the judgement of Jesus. Simply Justified by faith, and judged by works (obedience). Faith has works. Works of obedience are from faith, else why does Paul say to "Examine yourselves, whether you be in the faith" "except ye be reprobates", 2 Corinthians 13:5 which links to Romans 1:28-32. A Christian has communion with the Holy Ghost on a personal level, as 2 Corinthians 13:14 eludes to, so the RCC is no better as it takes this away from the believer.

FAITH & WORKS; James 2:14-26... “You foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless?” (v. 20). At the time of the Protestant Reformation, Roman Catholic theologians leaned heavily on the second chapter of James to maintain that justification is not by faith alone but by faith and works. The Reformers were taking every opportunity to say that justification is a free gift, that we receive it by faith alone, and that Paul’s letters to the Romans and to the Galatians back them up. But James seems at first glance to teach that works are necessary. There is no conflict between Paul and James. Paul taught us that salvation is by faith alone, and James tells us that there is a true and a false faith. A man who “claims to have faith but has no deeds” is a man who has false faith. True faith shows itself in good deeds. Thus, said the Reformers, we are justified by faith alone, but justifying faith is never found alone; it always brings forth good fruit. Men such as Luther and Calvin said that we are not justified by making a profession of faith but by possessing faith. A person who professes faith and then lives a life characterized by unrighteousness is surely deluding himself with counterfeit faith. Faith is not “mere assent.” Even the demons believe that God exists, said James, but rather than delighting in this knowledge, they respond with shuddering (James 2:19). The Reformers said that faith involves knowledge, assent, and trust or commitment. We must know something about God’s truth, and we must assent to the truth of it, but if that is all we do, we are no better than the fallen angels. True faith goes beyond mere assent and involves a personal relationship of trust and commitment to God, and such true faith will always show itself in deeds of love and obedience. James used the verb justify when he wrote, “Was not our ancestor Abraham justified for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?” (James 2:21). The Greek word justify can mean “legal justification,” which Paul taught is received by faith alone, or it can mean “demonstrative justification,” which was James’ meaning here. Abraham’s good work demonstrated his justification and filled up the legal justification that James, as well as Paul, said he received by faith (James 2:23). Coram Deo One theologian has said that we must employ the theology of the second glance. Admittedly, there are passages which at first seem to imply the opposite of what one knows is orthodox. A more careful approach resolves apparent contradictions. Thank God for teachers who clearly explain the one way of salvation. Isabel D, you asked: "Are Catholics correct that man is justified by faith and works..." ? No, because all man's "righteous deeds are like a polluted garment" (Isaiah 64:6), when viewed through the lens of God's perfect and righteous standard of judgment. That includes all the good works of God's people. "So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy" Romans 9:16. "He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to His own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit" Titus 3:5. The best works of fallen men and women are tainted with sin. Even the faith of God's elect is, in this life, mixed with unbelief. Even the repentance of God's best saints needs to be repented of. Our good works are not good enough to justify us before our infinitely holy God, because they are not perfect works. God's standard is perfection. Only the works of Jesus Christ were perfect works. Join any of man's supposed righteousness to Christ's perfect righteousness and it is spoiled and God is insulted. God will not accept it. "For by a single offering He has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified" Hebrews 10:14. "When He had BY HIMSELF purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high" Hebrews 1:3. This was exactly why Jesus came into the world...To keep the Law for us...in our place. And then at the cross, to suffer the full punishment that our sins deserved...in our place. True saving faith rests on the perfect righteousness of Jesus Christ alone. A true Christian is one who has repented of his or her sins before God, and is trusting in Jesus' works alone (His doing and His dying), for his or her acceptance with and justification before God. This person HAS BEEN born again from above, and is a new creature in Christ Jesus. "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them" Ephesians 2:8-10. And this is where good works come in...Not in order to win the favor of God; nor even to contribute to it; but as a result of having received His favor freely. The Bible plainly teaches that true Christians are justified by, as you have stated, a "living faith." A professing Christian who has no good works is deceiving him or her self. "For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead"James 2:26. And a dead faith is a false faith and does not justify anyone. "WITHOUT HOLINESS NO ONE WILL SEE THE LORD!" (Hebrews. 12:14). Suppose An Unholy Man Went To Heaven; by J. C. Ryle (1816-1900): www.biblebb.com/files/ryle/suppose_an_unholy_man.htm The Bible clearly teaches that while one is justified by faith alone, no one is justified by a faith that is alone! Saving faith is a repenting faith and a faith that bows to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, and a faith that issues in good works and holiness of life...sanctification. Sanctification is a process and is never complete in this life. But a believer's justification is not based on the degree of his or her sanctification. That would be to trust in our own works and not in the perfect works of Christ. That is to turn the gospel on it's head, and to count the perfect righteousness of Christ as insufficient. This is to call God a liar...when it is God Himself "who presented Him as an atoning sacrifice through faith in His blood. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in His divine forbearance He had passed over former sins. It was to show His righteousness at the present time, so that He might be just and the Justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus." Romans 3:25, 26. Being justified by faith, we have peace with God. Conscience accuses no longer. Judgment now decides for the sinner instead of against him. Memory looks back upon past sins, with deep sorrow for the sin, but yet with no dread of any penalty to come; for Christ has paid the debt of his people to the last jot and tittle, and received the divine receipt; and unless God can be so unjust as to demand double payment for one debt, no soul for whom Jesus died as a substitute can ever be cast into hell. It seems to be one of the very principles of our enlightened nature to believe that God is just; we feel that it must be so, and this gives us our terror at first; but is it not marvelous that this very same belief that God is just, becomes afterwards the pillar of our confidence and peace! If God be just, I, a sinner, alone and without a substitute, must be punished; but Jesus stands in my stead and is punished for me; and now, if God be just, I, a sinner, standing in Christ, can never be punished. God must change his nature before one soul, for whom Jesus was a substitute, can ever by any possibility suffer the lash of the law. Therefore, Jesus having taken the place of the believer-having rendered a full equivalent to divine wrath for all that His people ought to have suffered as the result of sin, the believer can shout with glorious triumph, "Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect?" Not God, for he has justified; not Christ, for he has died, "yes rather has risen again." My hope lives not because I am not a sinner, but because I am a sinner for whom Christ died; my trust is not that I am holy, but that being unholy, he is my righteousness. My faith rests not upon what I am, or shall be, or feel, or know, but in what Christ is, in what he has done, and in what he is now doing for me. On the lion of justice the fair maid of hope rides like a queen. ~ C.H. Spurgeon (1834-1892) www.heartlight.org/spurgeon/0925-am.html "For if, because of one man’s trespass (Adam), death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ" Romans 5:17. "For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.” Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due. And to the one who does not work but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness Romans 4:3-5... The Justification of the Ungodly: By C.H. Isabel D... I am content with the Gospel of Christ, Isabel D. You may keep the gospel of Rome. I do not find it to be good news at all. The biblical Gospel informs real Christians that "since we 'have been' justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" Romans 5:1. That's "HAVE" peace with God...NOW! Now that's REAL GOOD NEWS. We can only now experience this grace of justification because it is not based on our own performance, but on the performance of the One who kept the law, in our place; the law that we have broken, earning a perfect righteousness for us. "For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous" Romans 5:19. The Good News of Christ's Gospel is that Jesus took all our sins and gave us in exchange His perfect righteousness. Now, That's GOOD NEWS! I suppose that is why we are called evangelicals. Like Peter and John, "we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard" Acts 4:20. The justification of Rome is truly a fiction, because a million years in the Lake of Fire will not atone for one sin nor change the sinner's nature. "If a tree falls to the south or to the north, in the place where the tree falls, there it will lie" Ecclesiastes 11:3. "The natural person DOES NOT accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is NOT ABLE to understand them because they are spiritually discerned." I Corinthians 2:14. "Natural people are enemies to the government of God; and their nature shows that their will is to dethrone God if indeed it were in their power so to do! Yes, people are by nature enemies to the very existence of God, and would be glad if there was no God. Therefore, it necessarily follows, that if they were able, natural people would cause that there should be no God. Psalm 14:1 states: “The fool has said in his heart, 'There is no God.'” This implies, not only a tendency to question the existence of God; but also that he wishes it should be so that there was no God. His heart says this. His inclination says this. The words in the original are, “The fool has said in his heart, 'No God.'” That is, 'No God for me.' 'I do not desire any God,' 'I wish there was no God;' 'that would suit my inclination best.' 'Let the world be emptied of a God.' 'He stands in my way.' Therefore, every natural man is an atheist at heart." ~ Jonathan Edwards (1703-1758). Men Naturally are God's Enemies; by Jonathan Edwards; Dated August, 1736: harborbible.com/index_htm_files/Men%20Are%20Naturally%20Gods%20%20Enemies.pdf "The mind that is governed by the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God" Romans 8:7, 8. “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” ~ Jesus Christ; John 3:3. "Regeneration is a subject which lies at the very basis of salvation, and we should be very diligent to take heed that we really are "born again," for there are many who imagine they are, who are not. Be assured that the name of a Christian is not the nature of a Christian; and that being born in a Christian land, and being recognized as professing the Christian religion is of no profit what so ever, unless there be something more added to it---the being "born again." Regeneration is a matter so mysterious, that human words cannot describe it. "The wind blows where it wills, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell from where it comes, and to where it goes: so is every one that is born of the Spirit" John 3:8. Nevertheless, it is a change which is known and felt: known by works of holiness, and felt by a gracious experience. This great work is supernatural. It is not an operation which a person performs for him or her self: a new principle is infused, which works in the heart, renews the soul, and affects the entire person. It is not a change of my name, but a renewal of my nature, so that I am not the person I used to be, but a new person in Christ Jesus. To wash and dress a corpse is a far different thing from making it alive: man can do the one, only God can do the other. If you have then, been "born again," your acknowledgment will be, "O Lord Jesus, the everlasting Father, You are my spiritual Parent; unless Your Spirit had breathed into me the breath of a new, holy, and spiritual life, I would have been to this day "dead in trespasses and sins" Ephesians 2:1. My heavenly life is wholly derived from You, to You I ascribe it. "My life is hid with Christ in God. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me." May the Lord enable us to be well assured on this vital point, for to be unregenerate is to be unsaved, unpardoned, without God, and without hope." ~ C.H. Spurgeon (1834-1892). www.heartlight.org/spurgeon/0306-am.html

Isabel D... I have repeatedly stated that the Bible clearly teaches that sinners are not saved by a faith that is alone. Real saving faith works through love (Gal. 5:6). The error of Rome is to make these sin-tainted good works of fallen people to be a contributing factor to the sinner's JUSTIFICATION. As Paul the Apostle said of the Jews of old, so it can be said of Rome today: "For, being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness. Romans 10:3. This sin is enormous. As a Christian, I must warn you, Isabel D, that your belief in and defense of the false gospel of Rome makes you an enemy of Christ and His true Church. Moreover, what's worse is that God is your enemy. "Our God is a consuming fire!" Hebrews 12:29. "The sinners in Zion are afraid; trembling has seized the godless: “Who among us can dwell with the consuming fire? Who among us can dwell with everlasting burnings?”" Isaiah 33:14. "If we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed" ~ Paul the Apostle; Galatians 1:8, 9. There is NO Gospel apart from Christ's substitutionary atonement for all who His Father gave Him. "And this is the will of Him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that He has given me, but raise it up on the last day." ~ Jesus Christ; John 6:39. "All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and whoever comes to Me I will never cast out" ~ Jesus Christ; John 6:37. "I am not praying for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours." ~ Jesus Christ; John 17:9. "For Christ also suffered ONCE for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God" I Peter 3:18. "For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God" II Corinthians 5:21. "He who was delivered up because of our transgressions, and was raised because of our justification" Romans 4:25. "In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins" I John 4:10. "Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was pierced for our transgressions; He was crushed for our iniquities; upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with His wounds we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned-every one-to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all." Isaiah 53:4-6. "I lay down My life for the sheep." ~ Jesus Christ; John 10:15. "I Lay Down My Life for the Sheep;" Christ's Atoning Work: The doctrine of salvation focuses on the cross of Jesus Christ. When the Bible describes the death of Christ, it speaks of Him as actually accomplishing redemption. As the Good Shepherd, He laid down His life for His sheep (John 10:15). His death did not merely make salvation possible; it actually secured redemption for His people. In this session Dr. Steven Lawson will focus on the nature and extent of the atoning work of Christ... kzbin.info/www/bejne/fGPHeIuwhLaGa5Y You say that you cannot affirm "Faith Alone," But it is really "Christ Alone" that unregenerate nature rejects. You have failed to receive the Holy Spirit's witness as to the bankruptcy of your own righteousness, or you would have long ago happily discarded it and put on the spotless garment of Christ's perfect righteousness, which righteousness is a free gift of God to the very chief of sinners. (I Timothy 1:15) The Essence of the Gospel; Dr. Joel Beeke: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4e7hWitbrSdoKM "It is the hardest thing in the world to take Christ alone for righteousness: that is to acknowledge Him Christ. Join anything to Him of your own, and you un-Christ Him. Whatever comes in when you go to God for acceptance, besides Christ, call it anti-Christ; bid it be gone; make only Christ’s righteousness triumphant. All besides that is Babylon, which must fall if Christ stand, and you shall rejoice in the day of the fall thereof (Isa 14:4)." ~ Thomas Willcox (1621-1687) HONEY OUT OF THE ROCK; Thomas Willcox: www.chapellibrary.org/files/9613/7643/3248/hoot.pdf

Isabel D Jesus gave the Spirit as a “compensation” for His absence, to perform the functions toward us which He would have done if He had remained personally with us. Among those functions is that of revealer of truth. The Spirit’s presence within us enables us to understand and interpret God’s Word. Jesus told His disciples that “when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth” (John 16:13). He reveals to our minds the whole counsel of God as it relates to worship, doctrine, and Christian living. He is the ultimate guide, going before, leading the way, removing obstructions, opening the understanding, and making all things plain and clear.

@@HaroldZwingley... The REALIZATION / FULFILLMENT that the Salvation of a man is "REGENERATED" by the Holy Spirit at the very beginning... is NON_BIBLICAL...no scriptural passages to back up this kind of reasoning... Salvation is a PROCESS... St. Paul explained what he said, "ALL Runner (Christians) will/shall receive the PRIZE/REWARD (Salvation) at the FINISH LINE (at the Judgement day of God)... "Salvation of man is received at the End and not along the way or at the beginning... Analogy... For example... Someone gave you a FREE TICKET that you did not work for to enter the Celebration Venue, but in order for you to be able to use the FREE TICKET, there are some requirements for you to follow, like a dress code, and must come on time on the date specified, etc... if you do not follow those requirements even if you have a FREE TICKET, you will not be allowed to enter the venue... the same analogy... Entering the Celebration Venue is the Realization/Fulfillment of your Free Ticket... There is no sense or worthiness, if the Free Ticket you have is not used because of your wrongdoing of not following the required directions... In conclusion, THEREFORE, The Promise of SALVATION is given at the beginning, but the REALIZATION/ FULFILLMENT of the Promise of Salvation is at the END... The Grammar used by Christ Jesus in His Promise of Salvation to mankind is in FUTURE Progressive/Perfect TENSE... "You will/shall be Saved."... "Today, You will/shall be with me in Paradise."... TELL US AGAIN Tell us again about justification by faith alone, for we are no different than Israel of old. Each week we face Jordans and giants as our memory dims - our faith grows cold - and then we think we need to help the Creator of all along; as did Abram with Hagar. We are blind, forgetful and wrong. Tell us again how a work and an idol can slip, like a snake, in our adamic way. We try to placate the impeccable with some pitiful act or trite words we say; when it's actually a contrite heart we need to be humble in spirit and groan - for his blood was and is all sufficient. From the day when the Holy Spirit descended on the Apostles, Christianity has spread allover the world. This could not happen without the works of the apostles, their successors, and those who followed Jesus. Their works of spreading the Good News were surely not by faith alone but by faith shown through their works. So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead. James 2:17. And if this is not enough, then “Show me your faith apart from your works, and I by my works will show you my faith.” James 2:18

My understanding of "Justification by Faith Alone" means thru the Grace of God, "FAITH" alone (not work) must come FIRST before "GOOD WORKS" (Charity of Love/Deeds) begins/starts... It can not be WORK alone first before FAITH or both Faith and Work thru Grace justifies us at "the same time"... Our Faith Alone in God must come "FIRST" to each individual, then through our Faith in God... Good Works (Charity of Love/Deeds) will manifest or reflect on us thru the grace of God in Christ Jesus... Yes, it is true... the Bible said, "FAITH without WORK is a dead faith"... but it did not say,... "WORK without FAITH is a dead work."... Christ said, No works/deeds of man can be justified in the sight of God unless Faith thru Grace of God must come first to man... and that Faith is thru HIs Son, Christ Jesus... after that, our Charity of Love/Deeds begins/starts throughout our life in Christ and that is where our DEEDS will be judged by God on His Judgement Day (Rev. 20:12 / Roman 2:6/14:10-12)... Therefore, FAITH "alone" must come FIRST before Good Works (Charity of Love/Deeds) begins/starts for those who truly repented and believe in God... Can not be the other way around... Amen.

Thus, Faith (noun) without Work/Deed (verb) is a "DEAD FAITH" (James 2:17/paraphrased)... Facts and Truth, Biblically speaking... Amen.

@@Alfredo8059 With due respect... FAITH thru God's Grace comes FIRST, for non-believers (Atheists)... why?... Outside FAITH in Christ thru God's Grace, there is no Love, no Hope, no Charity, no Good Works/Acts/Deeds that are acceptable in the EYES of God... How do you know if the kind/type of LOVE is righteous if you have NO FAITH in Christ thru God's Grace?... In conclusion... After acquiring FAITH in Christ thru God's Grace... then, LOVE conquers ALL attributes... or in other words, if we are True Christian believers not by birth or by name only,... then, LOVE is the Greatest among Faith, Hope, Charity, Sacrifices, and Good Works/Acts/Deeds... For Non-Christians, FAITH must come first and no other way. Facts and Truth, Biblically and logically speaking... Amen.

@@Alfredo8059 What the Bible (Scripture) revealed/taught us if we are already Christians is that LOVE is the Greatest Commandment of Christ Jesus, ... 1st, "LOVE God will all your Heart, with all your Soul, and with all your Mind and Might/Strength"... 2nd, "LOVE your neighbors (foes alike) as you LOVE yourself"... But it does not mean, FAITH and HOPE are not (or less) important that we should not do Charity, Good Works/acts/deeds, and sacrifices for Christ said, "PICK UP (verb=work/act/deed) your CROSS (sacrifices/burden/yoke) and follow ME (Christ)."... 26 For if we SIN WILLFULLY after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there NO longer remains a SACRIFICE for (such)sins, 27 but a certain fearful expectation of JUDGEMENT and fiery indignation which will devour the ADVERSARIES. 28 Anyone who has rejected Moses’ law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 Of how much WORSE PUNISHMENT, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy WHO HAS TRAMPLED the SON OF GOD underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and INSULTED THE SPIRIT OF GRACE (Holy Spirit)? Hebrews 10:26-29 32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but WHOEVER SPEAKS AGAINST the HOLY SPIRIT, it WILL NOT be FORGIVEN him, either in this age or in the age to come. Matthew 12:32 My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment. James 3:1 But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea. Mark 9:42

All sin is willful. You still sin today. Are you no longer saved? Or do you lack saving faith in Jesus FINISHED work? 1 John 1:8-10 KJV [8] If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. [9] If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. [10] If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. I pray you realize people like you cause new believers to stumble. You expect them to attain a level of perfection that only Jesus could accomplish. There’s over 1,000 commands in the New Testament alone, and I know you don’t keep half of them. May God have mercy on your soul.

@@JesusChristIsLordoflords The words I quoted were inspired by the Holy Spirit and you are speaking against it, therefore you speak against the Holy Spirit. You dont realize it therefore I'm explaining this to you. And if you don't repent you are very close to commit the unforgivable sin.

@@JesusChristIsLordoflords Saying that the word of God can cause anyone to stumble is a blasphemy. And you, in your perverse, are accusing me of causing to stumble while you are doing this by trying to prevent believers from repenting of their sins. Unbelievable. This is the spirit of the Antichrist.

We are saved by grace through faith Do you know what that means? We are saved by grace but only if we believe it. If we don't believe it then we're not saved. We are not members of the body of Christ. Faith righteousness is the perfect filter against pretenders. You can fake piety. You can fake good works. But you cannot fake faith in the promises of God. You either believe them or you don't. Rom. 4:20-22 - He [Abraham] staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; 21 And being fully persuaded that, what he [God] had promised, he was able also to perform. 22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. Faith righteousness is the PERFECT filter against pretenders.
