This presentation by RC Sproul is very disingenuous - even sinister. He knows better, yet he manipulates the High Priestly Prayer to propagate his false understanding of the gospel. Jesus prays to the Father,, "I have manifested your name to the people whom you gave me out of the world... While I was with them, I kept them in your name... and not one of them has been lost except the son of destruction... "(Jhn 17:6, 12 ESV) Note all past tense in all the verbs. This is a reference to the 11 apostles who are with him in the upper room. This is not a description of how people become Christians. Everyone receives sufficient grace from our benevolent God to be saved. The ordo salutis (order of salvation) is simply; hear the gospel, believe the gospel, receive the Holy Spirit (Eph 1:13) It's unfortunate that R.C. Sproul deceived so many and that now it's too late for him to undo the damage he has done. Unfortunately, many others are making the same mistake and, like R.C. Sproul, will learn the truth the hard way.
