If I wanted to monitor the sound as I was recording would it simply be a case of plugging headphones into my camera - to make sure it isn't clipping etc or if the talent suddenly decides to start speaking louder. Along those same lines, is it possible to adjust the audio level as you record without having to interrupt an interview or speech for example?

I really wanted to see a important comparison between Sennheiser and RodeLink for the fact that we are talking about Digital and Analog transmission. Hence the deal breaker should not be the distance or buttons but the interference. Did you get a chance to check how they behave in a crowded environment with 100 to 200 ft distance like a party site, ball room conference, exhibitions, concert, festival scenarios as that's where we should see many mobile phones really in action. I really wish you post the test results of the transmission issues. Thank you.

Using this system on cameras with XLR inputs. The XLR adapter seems both noisy and loose. Any chance Rode will make a proper XLR input cable for this system? Otherwise this wireless lav works very well and we've had no dropouts or other issues when used with Blackmagic Cinema Cameras and an Ursa Mini Pro which we've successfully used without an external pre-amp. Being able to adjust the Rode receiver gain up and drop the camera internal pre-amp down makes for a good recording. Looking forward to a Rode XLR cable if at all possible.

Getting a lot a radio interference with the Lav mic that comes with the Rode kit, whenever it comes anywhere near the receiver, as well as a constant hum that is consistently there. I had some colleges that were having the same issue, and they ended up replacing the Rode Lav mic altogether with a Sienhiser Lav mic, all problems went away. So I followed suit, and these issues were resolved for me as well. Some kind of shielding issues with the Rode kit Lav mic.

Is the RodeLink Wireless a Mono Channel? I say this because I have a two headed Giant Squid lavaliere (2 lavs converging into one single stereo jack) and when I connect it to the Rode Link transmitter one of the lavs is silent. I think it only transmits one mono channel, not a stereo channel. Correct? I really wished I could get this two headed lav to work on this unit since it would be great for interviews with closely positioned subjects.

I purchased this product today but it doesn't sound like yours in the video, mine sounds with a lot of noise (air noise). Does it have to do with my camera (Nikon n3200)? Or do I need to edit it after in a software? Thanks

Have you got the +20dB engaged in the RODELink transmitter, the attenuator in the RODELink receiver set to 0dB, and the Nikon adjusted to (assuming it has this!) manual level control, to an appropriate level, with no 'automatic' level controls enabled? I'm purchasing this system today. If i'm needing to mic up a bride and groom I would obviously need two lav mics but would I need another transmitter and receiver? If anyone could help me with this I would be forever grateful... Just wanting to see exactly what is needed for this job. It's my first time recording audio at a wedding. Thanks!

I don't think that'll work - plus you have a practical issue of trailing cables between two performers/subjects. You really need two systems for this.

I don't think so. But you could use a Dual Mono > Stereo splitter to have two Filmmaker kits going into one camera, on separate channels.

Sorry if this seems a simple question (Im New) By splitting the stereo sound, will it still be good enough sound quality in mono? and to confirm, i would then use the left for one set of audio files and right for another set for editing purposes? Many Thanks

Definitely will sound fine, yes - after all the 'stereo' that is recorded using only one bodypack straight into the camera is really just one mono channel copied equally into either side. In the instance above, you'd be able to capture two independent channels of audio (so perhaps an interviewer and interviewee) direct to camera. What you'll capture in-camera will sound odd at first, one person in the left channel, the other in the right, but then you can separate and isolate the two channels in your video editor, and pan them into the middle.

I bought this kit and it worked well until the mic broke. It's very delicate and non-durable. Rode use a non-standard jack-plug on this kit and consequently no other mic works with it that I can find? My kit is now useless, so be warned!

Also - the jack used in the filmaker is a standard TRS, if you try to plug a TRRS or other type mic you may need an adaptor. They do look very similar but there are subtle differences. Cheers!
