That insulin smell description is pretty damn accurate. Broke a few vials of it over the last 25 years as a type 1 diabetic (insulin dependent).
@fate_clotho95965 жыл бұрын
I was able to take care of my dad, Type 1, in the last year of his life, also lived with him from 08 until he passed at home on hospice in 15. But can't say I ever got to smell the stuff 😆 did both the Novolog pen and the one from the vial, can't remember the name. But when I was little, he sure thought it was funny to grab my hand and prick my finger before his to check my blood sugar! Always at breakfast! I'm sure the neighbors thought he beat his daughter every morning lmao

Being a type one diabetic who uses insulin pens there are some things about that last story i find a little dubious. Insulin pens could potentially be mistaken for some kind of marker but the drug name is clearly printed on the side. As for the kid accidentally stabbing himself the needle is separate from the main "pen" part and needs to be screwed on so unless the needle was already on and ready for injection as for it breaking most insulin inside most pens is contained hardened plastic and is very hard to break unless a great amount of force is applied an accidental drop should not break it apart and the pen is sturdy by design. So I'm not sure about aspects of the story though i could be wrong.

I could believe an EP would be so up their own ass they think an insulin pen is a regular pen from a glance and wouldn't bother checking beyond that. Last story: OP: "Your Honor, if I am to understand the situation, these people stand to face 5 years in prison, a $250,000.00 fine, and they have to reimburse me for my wasted medication?" Judge: "Yes that is correct." OP: "Your Honor, I find this perfectly suitable, but I feel this teaches them nothing as they are well off, can get out on bail, and still feel a heavy sense of undeserved entitlement. So, I wish to offer them two choices. Would you be willing to hear me out to see if you and the rest of the court agrees? May I proceed?" Judge: "Proceed." OP: "I hereby suggest that the following punishment choices be offered to the parents. 1. The $250K Fine, 5 years and the medication reimbursement. or 2. Since they wanted the pen so very much for their child, they may get out of their punishment if the child is left alone, in a soundproof room with a camera, with a coloring book and a box of Insulin Pens, for 3 full hours. If they were right, then I will be the one to reimburse them $250K for the troubles I have given them, I will be sentenced to 5 years of jail with no chance of Bail, and I will pay for the medication myself, seeing as the child should be perfectly fine, and that the parents were 100% correct to act as they did since they know so much better than me. The child is not to be allowed any contact with the parents or anyone else, and is not to be spoken to upon conclusion of the trial so as to not be able to instruct him to not jab himself with the pens. The only thing to be mentioned to the child is to wait in the room and play with the colorful pens." JUSTICE

They expect restaurants to entertain and tolerate them and their dumb ass children because they have kids and it’s hard so everyone must suffer for it. If you refuse? Then I’ll abuse the shit out of you and pretend the word no doesn’t exist! Maybe we need to have restaurants not allow people with children under ten inside. Not just bars, I’m talking eateries in general. Or have a section for parents and kids away from adults. Put the Karen’s and their hell spawns in a pen all together so everyone else can happily live life.

I could be wrong, but every single insulin pen I've seen has plastic vials, not glass. And the pens have separate needles that fit onto the end of the pen, so you can't just accidentally stab yourself with it. Insulin does have a smell, but I don't mind it. Possibly because I've never smelled large quantities of it. Edit: I've been a type one diabetic for three years. Late diagnosis. Almost died. Three day coma with organs starting to shut down and brain swelling. ALWAYS take your insulin. Had to gradually regain strength in every part of my body. Chewing tired me out and I couldn't sit up by myself for days. It took months for my lungs to recover from the ventilator. I said all this to say, if you feel sick, like vomiting for days sick, go to the hospital. It could be anything. We thought I had an infection (abscess, which was removed while I was out) and that I was reacting poorly to the antibiotic. That is, until I passed out in the hallway and wouldn't wake up. Be cautious with your health. I still have scars and minor lung damage (I can't laugh too hard or I'll cough and choke) three years later. Take care of yourselves! ❤

yeah, i wanted to call them out on the fact that needles in insulin pens are a completely separate part (they aren't built on the pen), so, unless op was about to inject themselves, there would have been no way for the kid to stab themselves. plus, the pens are almost impossible to shatter. the vial(?) where the insulin is contained is made of hardened plastic, you need some tall and strong toddler to shatter it. i've lived with type one diabetes since i was 1 year old, so i know my stuff pretty well.
