If you're in the valley (R.G.V.) and you want to see something truly amazing visit La Sal Del Rey - Salt Lake. Grab some water bottles (it gets hot) and get ready for a long, crunchy walk through the wildlife refuge. Nopales (cacti) are in no short supply here so be cautious.

In the 60's as a boy I saw 4-6 Spanish soldiers mounted on horses like they were protecting the place. I was about 8. Scared the jivvies outta me. Was traumatized by the incident. It was NO mirage. I havent been back since ☝🏼⛪🙏🏼

How long is the hike from your vehicle to the actual lake?

They have said it’s about a mile but I have never been there. I just saw a post from a month ago that says it’s really dry right now. I still want to go 😃

It’s over a mile. Probably about 1.25 to 1.6 miles. Take plenty of water
