I had a really rough coming out. I was outed and my mom screamed at me while my grandma hit me. She forced me to go to church and I was shunned for being bi. I wasn’t given the love. I went to my first pride the other day and there was a mom with free mom hugs shirt. I just pointed to her shirt and she knew I wanted a hug. I tightly hugged her and burst into tears. Her husband was also wearing a free dad hugs shirt and he hugged me too. I have never felt so much love from someone. The two of them kisses my head, wiped my tears and told me they loved me so much, which made me cry harder. Those free parent hugs are honestly a savior. I was feeling suicidal because it’s the 5th anniversary of me being outed. And...those two parents and their love has kept me going

"Dad, THIS is my happy place. Not Disney, just when you still loved me." That hit me hard, the fact that his dad probably rejected him just because he's gay is heartbreaking. I don't understand why some parents could turn their backs on their children for their sexuality, and it's all because of their religion/beliefs
@archerhitthetarget4 жыл бұрын
What I hate even more is those parents would have been accepting if it was something they grew up seeing it as normal. It's so important to normalize people being human and teach this next generation that we need to accept people for who they are. If we push through the hard times now we can make the life of future children much brighter.

“When someone gives up on their own kid, there’s not a lot you can do for that parent, but there’s so much you can do for that kid.” That line. That line hit me like a truck. I’ve been lucky to have parents that support me in my transition and sexuality, but I’ve seen so many friends suffer because their parents won’t. When friends have suffered because of this, I feel so powerless. I can’t take that pain away. But I try to remember that even if I can’t fix it, listening and just offering solidarity and a shoulder to cry on can mean so much to a person.

It is *so good* so see all of this acceptance and representation for everyone celebrating Pride this month (and every other month in the future)! As someone who is still questioning their sexuality, seeing all of this makes me feel more comfortable in the fact that I don’t know who I am quite yet and that’s okay. Thank you so much, I’m looking forward to what you show us in the future! 💛

1:04 hit really hard for me. I came out as transgender to my mom and she rejected me. I was even kicked out for a couple weeks. I now live again in my house but my relationship with my mom is broken. And I’m no longer trusted around my brother because of who I am. I sometimes wish I could go back and choose to keep this secret to myself. This coming out experience has broken my self esteem and I have isolated myself from everyone in my life. Because I feel like I only make people sad or uncomfortable. I barely leave the house anymore. I want my old life back, when everyone loved me.

Seeing someone that I look up to like One Topic do a video on aromantics makes me feel things. I had a lot of issues and trauma associated with my sexual/romantic orientation and just recently started to come out. So thank you, One Topic.

I remember getting your videos for the first time in my "for you" on KZbin, and being scared to click, because I was afraid you'd be insulting the LGBTQ+ people in the video, but I instantly fell in love. I subscribed at the beginning of June, and I haven't thought about unsubscribing. I love your channel, and the videos you create. Your voice is amazing, and you make your comment section is so supportive. You listen to your fans, and that's so cool. Thank you for being awesome, One Topic, as much as you say you love and care about us, I'm sure we love and care about you more.

Man my identity has been such a journey. I found the label of asexual a while ago but I thought it meant you didn't like anyone at all ever. It took me watching an interview of several asexual persons to realise that there is actually of scale of asexual / aromantic and that it can include other sexualities as well. Took me even longer to learn the term biromantic, which a helpful KZbin commenter informed me of. It basically means you're asexual but romantically attracted to boys and girls. As far as I know right now, I'm asexual and only slightly romantically attracted to boys and girls. This discovery of myself has definitely been a process and I know that I am luckier than some to have had the support of some amazing friends throughout. I would just like to thank One Topic as I know he has helped many not only figure out who the are but also help them feel justified in themselves. This incredible content is extremely important in spreading life changing knowledge and acceptance to those who need it.

I have a friend who is aromantic+asexual. She told me she was so happy when she figured out that's who she is, and I was so happy for her. Being aromantic/asexual is something that a lot of people still view as not a thing, even some of the LGBT community, and it makes me so upset. I ended up in a conversation with some coworkers once where I tried to explain ace/aro to them. It was a very long conversation. They kept saying 'those people just haven't met the right person', and I kept telling them it doesn't work like that. One of them finally seemed to get it.

we absolutely deserve it❤️ we’ve been through SO much and having even this one person support us SO unconditionally and openly is amazing! And I truly hope that this becomes mainstream in the near future! We deserve so much love, YOU deserve so much love! And for all of you out there, know that my lesbian ass and my ace girlfriend love you and support you unconditionally❤️ Be safe out there guys. And no matter what, NEVER let anyone tear down the thrown you’ve made for yourself. NEVER let another person undermine your hardships and triumphs. And ALWAYS be your true to yourself, sometimes it’s not safe to come out. And that really REALLY sucks. But what really matters is your SAFETY. And just know that once you get to a safe place, it gets better. I promise, you WILL get out of the situation you’re in. You WILL find a safe place. You WILL find someone to love you unconditionally for who you are. Whether it be romantic or platonic. And NEVER forget that this community will always be here for you❤️
