I don't remember where I read it, but I remember reading an article about how it appears that our ability to smell so many distinct aromas seem to operate on a quantum level.

@@milohobo9186 With the concept of about a dozen "sixth sense"s running around, I honestly won't be surprised to hear about such a discovery. I might be surprised by _which ones specifically_ that are true.

I love the undulates.
@Amehtta3 жыл бұрын
Its actually undulates, apparently, which makes a ton more sense for a long spineless species that moves via cilia. It’s been driving me nuts because they obviously don’t have hooves (which is what undulate means, scientifically). They are great though, as are basically all of the aliens in this series.

It doesn't take knowledge of machines to surmise that one of several identical components being much hotter than the others is probably a badness thing.

Can someone explain me the heat one? Did the heat vaporize the metal enough for him to smell? Was it radiating heat? maybe glowing from heat? Didn't get that one...
@lukkaredwolf35344 жыл бұрын
High enough heat can generate a smell for some people. Just like some people can feel an electric short at a distance.

@@lukkaredwolf3534 I know very little, but metals don't smell due to the atoms not being capable of escaping their bonds. Heating it up might give them enough energy to possibly detach, hence my use of the term "vaporized". I am pretty sure it is the wrong term... As for the reason he actually managed to "smell" it being hot, heck, what do I know. It might as well be intutition... Thanks for responding btw.

@@notafrisbee5907 honestly, I'm not the best to talk about the sense of smell either. I have a severely decreased sense of smell myself, due to chemical exposure. All I can say is that I can smell when things get hot, but not yet burning.
