Bruh, thanks! I been tried some method but this is more cheap and have good durability!! I been tried the rubber band hopup but not a best, then i tried your method and it is works as well.

Roll the barrel on piece of glass to get smooth finish. Will remove excess and leave a professional finish.

I've had the same idea a couple weeks ago while trying to figure out how to R-hop my VFC and before trying on it i made an attempt on a dummy barrel i had laying arround. I've noticed the cured silicon is not only strong enough but it is smooth and grippy, which is perfect. But after more curing time like 72h later or more, a couple days, the silicon had shrinked alot and the shape of the patch changed. The patch was stretched from the outside and protruding inside of the barrel a tiny little bit which could apply hop unintentionally. It went out perfect but it depends on the silicon you use. I will try to find another silicon glue, one that wont shrink and change its geometry after full cure but i believe this is the best result i've ever seen. The material is perfect but it depends on both the right silicon glue and your material's quality and DIY skills. Also requires a flat hop bucking of course ; )

That right. So choose the right material is important. The sillicone glue that i use, is not shrinkable. it says on the package with "low volatile" and it works. Mine not shrink even after more than a month. Suggest: use sillicone glue for automotive gasket. The sillicone material have to high temp degree resistance and pressure resistance too. if it can handle automotive motor high temp and pressure, so it will be perfect to for airsoft barrel. Flat hop bucking & flat hop nub, is a must. (which i have not included in this tutorial) Thx alot @driver7, please update to me after it works for U.

Good idea - but how does it perform and is it reliable enough ?

Przemysław Wilkutowski now im still use this and still perform well as DMR. Right now im still trying to make an imporvement for this metode

You know you could try to do the same thing with ploiutherane. - You would need to mix ingredient A nad B for proper sHa value (how stiff it is - experiment what works the best) - Use special adhesive on the barrel in places where you want pliutherane stick - Use mold removal in places where you don't want it to stick Right now I'm testing a DYI flat hop for consistency and i think ill go this route - IF it works fine ill make a form for pliutherane and pour my own flat nub to make a perfect fit for the hop up chamber. I'm guessing same can be used in your method for r-hop and it would be impossible to ware it off due to how strong poliethuran is.

Przemysław Wilkutowski what about the grip? I'm ok with the grip using silicone glue 4 gasket. Don't need to push the hopup to archive the distance. Even it tend to give over hop a little. Please update if u have any progress with your material. Thx
@pch_mechanika6 жыл бұрын
Sure i will Well as for grip, i cant tell I'm speculating on using the material, but since you are *pressing the bb through* it i think the grip is less of an issue (right ?). It will spin it, still it needs to be tested empirically.

Ok so i made a numb for the hop up arm from Molding poliurethane with Sha 50 hardens and it seems this it will be perfect for the 'numb' it self. Thing is you need to Degas that thing - air bubbles otherwise. This will hold far better than any DYI eraser numb :) As for bucking i don't think the 'molding' version of urethane will do it properly (it doesn't 'stick' to well), ill try but i see some issues - Need a vacuum chamber to degas the urethane - otherwise air bubbles will be a problem - Molding version of urethane probably wont stick... need a 'parts' grade version with some metal adhesion enhancer - SHA 50 is to stiff for a patch like in your video, i would say Sha 20 or 30 is needed (similar to silicone), otherwise it just wont bend properly

How has this held up? Interested to know if this works for a long-term solution

i'm gonna use this material for 470-500(max) fps, do you think this will holding up?

will hold depend of slicon i use sika flex 11 fc+ and hold in a 3J vsr 10 with 0.4g bb, i shot about 1000bb so far and still work, dont use soft silicon will brake soon like 200bb, i test it

In my opinion it is not durable enough. I did it, it was good at the beginning (m249 a&k) but I destroyed it after somthing like 2000-3000 shots. Maybe it is ok if you are a sniper, but still when it will collapse it will bring all shit inside your barrel and this is not good
