Rahul Gandhi’s statements in Lok Sabha unsubstantiated, says government
External Affairs Minister Jaishankar terms Congress leader’s statement a ‘deliberate falsehood’, denying that he had requested an invitation for PM Modi to attend the swearing-in ceremony of U.S. President Donald Trump
The government and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday (February 3, 2025) countered Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi on multiple issues raised by him during a debate in the Lok Sabha on the “Motion of Thanks” to the President’s address, describing his statements as “unsubstantiated” and a “deliberate falsehood”.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar called Mr. Gandhi’s statement a “deliberate falsehood”, denying that he had requested an invitation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the swearing-in ceremony of U.S. President Donald Trump. He said his visit to Washington in December 2024 was to meet his counterparts in the Biden administration and he had also met the incoming National Security Adviser Mike Walz.
