Freeform jazz really incredible especially when mixed with rock and roll. That little bubbling he does with the left hand in between, classic reminds me of Emerson Lake and Palmer. Almost science fiction like. There are interviews of them from the '70s where they're asked if they had to go to work what would they do. Greg Lake says he couldn't imagine it and would commit suicide. Emerson just says something to the effect that he wouldn't live without his music in a way. When your life flows through your hands and your hands stop working... Genius is pain.

It is very sad, but depression can be soul destroying especially if you lose the ability to perform in the way you have, look at Robin Williams, he should have put more time into teaching and encouraging young talent such as Rachel Flowers. During his years in California, John Lydon (form. Johnny Rotten) struck up a friendship with fellow British musician Keith Emerson, keyboard player in The Nice and later prog rock stars Emerson, Lake and Palmer. He admits to feeling “a great sense of guilt” about Emerson’s recent death, apparently by suicide. “I got to really like the man and no matter what was going on I’m just feeling ‘God, if he’s just made a phone call’ of if I’d have know something I would have rung him and persuaded him differently. Every second of your life matters.“What was he, only 71? It doesn’t make sense to throw away the only thing you’ve ever been given for nothing - life.” More to the point he seemed such a lovely man and comes across as such.

Here, as we can see and listen to, the maestro was still being able to satisfactorily overcome his right-hand problem - that was aflicting him since the early 90's -, through a very painfull struggle that took him decades. I truly don't know what hapenned to him from this very nice 2014 live regisitration up to tragic and terribly sad outcome two years ago, in March 2016. We miss him very, very much... Our eternal love and admiration, Keith. P.S.: I would like to make use of this opportunity to speak on one of the best Keith's solo career works, the album with the soundtrack from the Italian terror movie "Inferno", by Dario Argento, originally released in 1980 and, up to know, sadly unknown to most of his fans. A new remastered deluxe Cd re-edition was now released in Italy. The "Inferno" soundtrack is basically a piano orchestra classically structured suite, with the orchestra conducted by Godfrey Salmon ( ex-Esperanto member and former E,L & P collaborator on Works Vol 1 ). It's a masterpiece that cannot be missed. Regards to all of you !

His right hand probs got worse, really worse. Somewhere on YT there´s a vid of him from 2016 where he tried to play Tarkus on the piano and his right hand couldn´t manage more than the first 10 notes or so. It´s heatbreaking to watch him struggling and breaking off in the end.

Regarding the section where he struggle to play … it's one of the most sad and heart breaking video about KE I've ever seen. And still do not understand why he insisted to play in those terrible conditions. I rather prefer remember him as the one who literally invented the role of "keyboard player", opening a whole new course for the pop rock jazz piano and keyboard's players of our century.

Keith Emerson (in my opinion), was simply put, the maestro of the keyboards in particular and dare I say, popular music in general. A gifted musician, with a tremendous feel for his musical craft. I've, along with many others, enjoyed his varied and accomplished musical works and grew up with him, close to my heart, in the sense of his compositions. Yes, there are other greats, but this man, truly was an outstanding musician.

It was funny when Keith mentioned Rick Wakeman in a humorous sort of way, and it was especially nice that Keith showed such fondness toward Rachel Flowers too.
