Story 1 - Reminds me of an incident I witnessed while transiting Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, commonly called Denpasar in Bali, I was sitting within the transiting area, which by the way really isnt much more than around 5 seats next to a security station always manned by a security/military officer which also is roped off and only for transit passengers. Well this one guy had used the toilets that were nearby and as he started to head away he throws a "Your toilets need cleaning." towards the officer his face glued to his phone. Well the officer didnt catch or fully understand, what he said and called out to him to come back, and the guy did, still looking at his phone and once more tells the officer what he said. The officer told him he'd get a cleaner, only to have the guy tell him, again without looking up from his phone, to do his job. I think teh guy thought the security station was where the cleaners stood around waiting to do work. Well at this point two other officers had walked up, having heard the officer call the guy back, and they intervened and started asking him why he was within the transit area and where his passport and plane ticket were for transiting. Well he of course looked up from his phone to this and starts going on about how he is visiting Bali and that he was telling this cleaner there to go and do his job, seeing they were officers he did pull his passport and ticket out from the flight he arrived on. Well, the two officers that had stepped up werent in the mood for any bullshit and one of them immediately took the passport and ticket while the other one motioned to the officer still standing sitting behind the security station and told him "Well sir, as you see, our security staff take their job seriously, as do we." Of course the guy became a bit more obnoxious and said "Well why is he sitting behind a desk and not out doing his job." I at this point snickered and the guy suddenly realized I was there, with my carrying luggage, sitting UNDER a big sign marked TRANSIT, and he scowled at me and in an aggressive tone asked what I was snickering at. At this point the other officer, the more senior one that took his passport and ticket, told him he was in the wrong area, but however because of his aggressive attitude and behavior he was going to be taken to secondary for a bag search. Which he didnt like too much about having to do, but trudged away with the two officers muttering some obscenities under his breath, heard by the officers, myself and the officer behind the desk. After they had left the officer behind the desk chuckled and said to me the guy is likely now to have to pay a fine, around US$50, for his swearing and may actually find himself on a return flight back to where he had arrived from. One thing you dont do in Denpasar airport and that is get mouthy with airport staff BEFORE you have even gone through passport control and officially entered the country, they will throw you out for the slightest issue and fine you in the process.

Not really an "I don't work here" but when I was working Security, I was the lead for my post. We worked remote (out of town, so most of us lived on property during the active months). On my night off, this Karen kept spouting off racist and homo/trans-phobic remarks because we had a lot of native Americans and we had three gay families staying there (Husbands having dinner, wives shopping and holding hands, etc). well, the front desk ended up calling one of my officers. He tried to escort her off property, telling her she's being trespassed, etc. She started yelling and screaming about how he's supporting these [F flur for gay people]. He ends up calling me to come handle her. I show up and he meets me without her to catch me up on everything. I nod and tell him I've got it handled. I should mention here that I'm 6'0", 250lbs with a neatly trimmed beard. I walk up and introduce myself as the off-duty security lead and her presence will no longer be tolerated. She goes off on me that I'm supporting [another f slur]. I frown and say "Ma'am, that's no way to speak in public. You've been banned from this property. you need to leave or my husband, a cop, will remove you in matching bracelets for trespassing." And to be clear, I'm not gay, I'm bisexual. I'm also married to a woman (And was at the time). But the look on her face that I was one of those [F slurs] was absolutely priceless as she fled the property, metaphorically clutching her pearls. I met many cool people but also many entitled people working there. I've got more stories, if anyone is interested.

That would have been bad for a plastic covered table but these tables were tiled. The table ended up having to be thrown out because it could not be sufficiently cleaned.

Story 2 - For a moment, let's imagine that OP work there and is in duty. Now, if I try to have his help and he refuse, why in the world I would insist that he help!!! He doesn't want? That suck : let's find sombody else!! Why these people insist like if it was so outrageous that it has value to get kicked out? The principle? If you get stuck on this evertime somebody go agains a principle, you gonna find life very very long!!

Airport bathroom story: I don't care WHERE in the world you are, arguing with airport/airline staff is one of the more stupid things you can do. You can be denied boarding your flight (as in this case) or even arrested and put on no-fly lists. It's simply not worth it. Park worker story: Good grief! Just because you work for the overall company doesn't mean (in most cases) you work and have authority at every location. There are 5 Walmart Supercenters, 6 Walmart Neighborhood Markets and 2 Sam's Clubs in the city where I live. Unless an employee is specifically sent from one store to help out at another, they have no duty or authority to help out at any location but the store they work at, especially if they are off-duty and off the clock. Not even the store they work at if they are off the clock. Colorblind story: That was fun, but OP, you simply didn't try hard enough. A very long time ago when I was in the Navy I met a guy who was completely colorblind. He could only see white, black and shades of gray. What was impressive was that he was an Electronics Technician. These guys deal with many different color-coded wires. Not just different colors, but different shades of the same color (think light blue vs medium and dark blue for instance). Somehow, he had managed to memorize each shade of gray to the appropriate color and shade of color. It wasn't for several months after his "A" school training that he slipped up, made a mistake and got caught out. He was given a medical discharge. Consulate bullies story: Some people just don't know how little power they hold till they actually try to abuse it. These idiots got a proper slap down.

These days, colour-blind people have some help in the form of smart-phone apps which use the phone camera to identify the colour of things. But it's not always convenient to use a phone app.

#2 So ... who's the dude? #4 I'm an introvert. I hate confrontation. If I get unsatisfactory service, you won't see or hear me complain. I'll just silently put your business place in my blacklist of places I won't go.

Re: #4: That's exactly what I do. This is particularly at steakhouse restaurants-none of the ones I've been to can properly cook a steak. It's at the point where if I wanted it done medium/well I'd ask for medium.

You know, so many of these stories wouldn't have happened if people would stop being stupid. I mean, the color blind guy, all he had to do with the lady was tell her from the beginning that while he was willing to help her he was color blind and she'd have to direct him. Yeah he eventually did that but he could have just don't that from the beginning.
@fluidwolfАй бұрын
That at least might be good part embarrassment or even not wanting to have to deal with potential backlash from saying it. The lady in the story was understanding but there's so many stories where they would be told and they would deny it is a thing or berate them over it. So oftentimes it's likely not going to be mentioned unless it absolutely needs to.

I absolutely abhor people who use the "do u know who I am". Even if it is someone of perceived importance or someone that everyone will recognize that behavior is disgusting. It's extremely ridiculous when it's done by someone who isn't recognizable at all, but maybe they work with/for someone "famous" or "important" or like an influencer who thinks they're famous & honestly it's also pathetic & embarrassing. I actually think it's even worse when it's done by someone who is supposed to be of some importance such as a politician, bc ur a civil servant so technically u work for the ppl, who r u to think ur anyone's better. Nobody is better than anyone else in life, least of all bc of their job or financial position. When politicians or famous celebrities, musicians, athletes etc... all behave this way, it's just sad. Like who tf do u think u are. If it weren't for the ppl who ur constantly belittling having voted for, listened to their music, watched their movies or ball games they would absolutely be no one. Just bc u have a little talent & or got lucky doesn't make u a better person than someone, it just means u have more money than most & unfortunately sycophants to kiss ur a**. To me these ppl will never be my heroes or of importance. To me the true special ppl out there are healthcare workers, fireman, teachers, some police officers, the military. You know all the ppl out there who are saving lives, educating, protecting & serving every single day with hardly ever a thank u. I'm not saying that they're better than everyone else either but they're a damn sight better than the ppl out there who use the fact that they're on television, the radio or work in politics to try & make other ppl feel like crap or to get what they want. I know not all public figures are like that, but many are. But I swear, I don't care who it is if someone ever used the "do u know who I am" line on me as an excuse to act a donkey I'll laugh in their face & walk tf away. Cause the ppl I look up to & respect would never behave in such a way & if they ever did I'd lose all respect for them. But the fact that the 1 woman was an aid & the other was a receptionist to the consulate is just hilarious

My favorite response to the “do you know who I am?” Question will always be: *taps announcement microphone* “attention all shoppers. We have an individual who does not know who they are. *gives description*. If anyone knows the identity of this person, please come to customer service and escort them to their care facility. Thank you.”
