Still one of the best sean nos singers. She was my first Gaelic instructor at Milwaukee's Irish Fest. A lovely lady!

Love this song. Try also Van Morrison and the Chieftains! I hoped to find more comments in Gaelic here (though I wouldn't understand them). ...

I am Irish in my previous life.

I am Flemish and I have brown eyed and blue eyed gene, both Celtic and Germanic. I lived in Dublin for a while and I wondered what it was that made me feel Irish. It is the spirit of the Celtic people. There are 80 million Irish, yet only 3 million of them live in Ireland. The musical sense of the Celts is expressing 700 years of oppression and persecution, the diaspora, the rough conditions and climate, the respect for nature and the great sense of humor that is definitely related to the pubs. May the Gods and Goddesses finally have mercy on the fate of the Irish people! Slainte!

This one seems to be the Altan version, goes like this: Tá mo chleamhnas a' dhéanamh inniu agus inné 'S ní mó ná go dtaitníonn an bhean udaí liom féin Ach fuígfidh mé mo dhiaidh í, 's rachaidh mé leat féin Síos cois na coille craobhaigh A match was a-making here last night And it isn't with the one that I love the best I'll leave her behind and I'll go along with you Down by the banks of the ocean 'Mo chodladh go h-eadarshuth b'aite liom féin Leabaí luachra a bheith faoi mo thaobh Buidéal brandaí a bheith faoi mo cheann 'S mo chailín deas bhán 'bheith mo lámh' liom Sleeping to milking time is my delight A bed of green rushes and underneath my side A bottle of brandy underneath my head And a charming young man in my arms Shiúil mise thoir agus shiúil mise thiar Shiúil mise Corcaigh 'gus sráideanna Bhaile Átha Cliath Macasamhail mo chailín deas ní fhaca mise riamh 'Sí 'n bhean í a d'fhág mo chroí cráite
