In the very crowded hall of one of the main London underground station a man started groping my arse. I span round, grabbed his wrist and shouted at the top of my voice, telling everyone exactly what he'd been doing. He'd relied on the crowd to cover up his assault but now the table was turned and he was trapped in the crowd with everyone staring at him in disgust. He was sooo embarrassed. It was a glorious moment.

I have a similar story. I was taking the train home from the capital to the suburbs in the pre-covid days. It was kinda crowded but there were some spots if you looked, I however didn't get one and instead wound up in the handicapped section of the wagon where a Karen and her two children had occupied the entire area. Let me make it clear. NONE of them were handicapped and her kids were lying down on the seats taking up a total of seven seats with three people. Me and some other people kind of cornered her making our presence known and expecting her to move her kids out of the way. Nope. Whatever was on her phone was way more important than people being allowed to sit down (thank god there weren't any actual handicapped people) and then the train started moving so there wasn't really any choice but to grab onto a pole or handle and hang on. So me in a glorious moment of pro/pettyrevenge grabbed onto the pole in front of her seat (you know, for the handicapped or elderly who might need something to hang on to) so that I was standing with my old, worn-out and not soft backpack right infront of her face and my feet right in front of hers. Because I was standing and the train moved a lot I "accidentally" stepped on her feet a lot trying to catch my balance and often wound up ramming my backpack right into her face when the train jostled and turned. I never stepped on her feet dead on but my never-cleaned boots scraped and slipped off of her nice looking boots A LOT. About three stations in she spoke up and went "Excuse me, you're being quite close" like she wasn't entirely the reason me and 10+ others were forced to stand. So in a neutral voice I just went "Yeah sorry about that. There weren't any seats available." and continued holding on for dear life, making sure she had the worst time ever for the remaining 15-20 minutes. I was thinking of going nuclearrevenge by letting her know I'd had Thai for lunch so to speak but there weren't really any way of controlling the output and I didn't want to risk inconveniencing the other passengers. It was still one of the best train journeys I'd had since I could just listen to music while making sure justice was served. I made sure to flip her off as I walked past her window once I got off and she looked irate to say the least.

That was a tidy class action lawsuit payout for me, even though I was one of the few who refused to work during my lunch. The supervisor would have us clock out for thirty minutes at the end of our shift and then clock in for five minutes and then clock out for the day, and we were expected to do paperwork that entire time. When they did it to me, I walked away and ate "lunch" and then came back after my 30.

as a guy, well kid back then, i had a similar case with a Karen. A Karen that was (i do not like calling people round/fat/bulky or any other such characterization, but she was at least) well fed. I was a skinny kid back then and she was taking over 2/3 of the two sits we were sitting on. I always like to get up either exactly at my stop or way in advance. having missed my stop few times doing the first thing i was already doing the latter. So i get up to "exit" the seats and she says to me "Sweety hasnt your mother taught you? you dont sit in the inner sit unless you know for sure the person on the outer sit is getting off before you. I think i need to teach you, so you will have to sit in until i get off in 4 stops" My stop was 3 stops ahead, which would mean i would have to get off a stop later than my intended stop. I tried to argue with her, for the distance of a stop, but she overmatched my voice and wouldnt even let me get a word out. The rear half of the bus was watching us, and thats when i decided to just get up again, put on my backpack (though pretty empty unfortunately) and CLIMB on her right leg, step on the left one while she was sitting, use her head to keep my balance in a moving bus and finally jump off her to the corridor in the mid of the bus! She was too surprised and kind of screaming. Once i got off her i said "you dont need to get up for me, i got it", because i was a mouthy kid and went towards the door of the bus. still had another stop. Just a moment later i came back next to her, to an old-ish man (looking around 62-64) and told him "Sir you can have my seat, its not right for you to be standing" and turned to her and said "Could you move inwards so this man can sit?" She was fuming and the 6-7 people closest who heard and had seen the show 10-15 seconds earlier started laughing. She akwardly moved in not saying anything!! THe man sat down and i was very huppy with my victory. As the bus stopped at my stop and i was getting off, she said to the old man "Could you stand? i need to get off" ( i believe she was talking about the next stop,since she didnt seem to hurry for the open doors) and the old man let out a sigh and said "you know my girl, my knees hurt"!!! to which people again erru0pted into laughter. I do believe the man got up for her in time, but it wasnt within my vision once i was off that bus

The story about the online store prices being different than the in-store prices happened to me too with a VR headset, it was $100 cheaper to order it online and I watched as they grabbed the same one I wanted to buy earlier and put in in the back for pick up, it's such a stupid system

in-store shoppers are usually willing to pay the larger price to get their item and leave without wasting time going through the rigamarole to get them to honor online prices, and cheap online orders get people to the store for pick-up where they may browse and buy over-priced goods in store. Its not a stupid system, its a predatory one.

12:25 You can't blame the Home Depo store for that. They are not allowed to honor the web sales as they are online only sales/prices and the only way to sell them at that price is to place it online. The managers would get in trouble to change prices to match it. I had one tell me that if I ordered online right there on my phone he would check me out with my phone receipt without waiting 30 mins in my car. (might take 10 mins for their system to get the order, but usually it is quicker.) Corporate redtape and oversight has given them very little room to change anything. EXAMPLE. Lowes in my town has their city water meter inside a locked room with all the other water controls. To get the reading each month someone in the water department has to go in and get someone to unlock and let them in each time. OR we could put in a remote read sensor. Just need to drill a small hole to run the wire through the wall and hang it. They couldn't approve it and corporate rejected it after they sent in a request. So every month a manager has to be called up to go outside and unlock the door.

In a similar manner to the light bulbs, I had priced an iPod online at Walmart for a good price but found it $15 higher in the store. Asked if they price matched and was told no. So I stood next to the display case and pulled out my phone and ordered and paid for it online. I watched for 5 minutes and the same woman who "helped" me earlier, came over and go the iPod out of the case, at which point I said "Yep, that's the one!" I then followed her to the customer service desk, showed my receipt, and happily walked out the store while saving $15! Had the same type of thing at Barnes and Noble on a book. Don't know why they don't price match since the smart customers will order online for store pickup.

I had a manager that knew I would pick up shifts and stay longer to help. The only days I didn't work was Saturdays, during a meeting between him and other services leaders he decided to ask me in front of all of the other's as well as the service leader who needed the shift covered, if I could work their Saturday shift. I straight up told them no, because I already came in on my day off to go to that meeting and Saturday was my only the only other day off for another 5 days

When I used to work at home depot service desk I essentially did this for the customer. I ordered the object online for them, wrote the order number down. As soon as it came into the system i would pick it to the order area behind me and send them on their way. If the customer was in a super hurry I would confirm that its okay to sign their order out for them when it gets in the system. Write the order down and send them on their way. Its a win win since it gets our order pick time average lower and it makes the customer happy

1:58 I can also relate. I worked at two stores at my local mall, and one of them was 🙏toxic🙏. It started out ok, I was a key holder so I'd get a couple 8 or 10 hour shifts a week, and sometimes come in around my other job. About a month in, my 4 to 5 shifts a week dropped to 2 shifts a week, 4 hours long, just enough to cover my other coworker's lunch break. Two shifts turned to one shift, and then I asked my manager what was going on. She called me in for a meeting that I wasn't expecting, bombarded me with a full page of like 8 or 9 different right ups, none of which had she ever discussed with me prior. She said "If I'd been documenting this as I should have, this would be a termination meeting." I was very polite during our meeting, listened to everything she had to say. What it basically came down to was I somehow made her uncomfortable, but that was in no way expressed during the entire time I worked with her. I thought we were getting along pretty well, so it came not only a huge surprise, but also a slap in the face. But I took it in stride. I said I'd work harder on being better. My next shift I had a very positive attitude, didn't speak unless spoken to, and basically spent the whole shift arranging the store. (One of the points was I was "stealing transactions", so I didn't do a single one unless I was asked to.) The shift after that, she calls me in again and basically said that no matter how hard I tried, my hours wouldn't be going up again, so it's probably better for me to quit. So I did.

Willing to bet that you didn't do a darned thing wrong. My late husband was a RN. He was exceptional at his job. Families in our area actually chose a nursing home for their family member based on which facility he was working at. He was promoted to Director of Nursing for a fairly large facility when he was 26. He was the youngest DON in our state by about a decade. The board hired a new financial coordinator at the facility. This person wasn't his boss per se but they made all financial decisions & could make his life extremely difficult. This woman was super angry that a man was hired for "a woman's job" & that he was promoted so quickly. She decided she'd do everything in her power to make him lose his nursing license as it's his license that backed the whole facility so, if she could tarnish that, he would be forced out. The back story of this is that my late husband only had one dream & it was to be a RN. He grew up poor & couldn't afford college but the year before he was going to apply for financial aid, his father started a construction business that totally tanked his FAFSA. He talked to the army recruiters & asked if there was any job he could sign up for that wouldn't involve killing as he was deeply religious & only wanted to help people. They told him medics don't. They lied & forever traumatized him. The only saving grace was that they paid for his school to get that license. He lasted a year & a half before she went to the board & tried a hostile takeover. He resigned because he didn't have any fight left. She literally broke him so he spent the next 2 weeks staring at the wall, never moving, eating or even going to the bathroom. I had to lead him by the hand & help him until I could get him in to emergency doctor & emergency psychiatric care. It took a month of several times a week appointments until he was strong enough to apply as a RN at a different facility. He was hired at his DON pay rate (they wanted him pretty badly). He never again tried to apply for a DON position even though they wanted him to. He did get several accreditations to teach classes though &, when he died, he was making almost $50 an hour where the starting rate was $20 for a RN. When he left that DON job, 16 families transferred their loved one to the facility he worked at & they told the board why they were doing so. They let the financial coordinator go when that happened so she tried to go beg for her old job back at a really small facility. They had already hired someone else so she had to take 2 steps down on her career ladder to even get any job in our area (small county of 10,000 people). Sometimes female managers (mostly this is a female thing though it isn't always & I've seen men do this too though mostly it's a throwing around their power & ego for dudes if they do similar things) decide they don't like someone for petty & emotional reasons, no matter how good at their job they are & no matter if it'll ultimately screw the business over in the long run. I'm guessing that's what happened to you too. Some people shouldn't ever manage people & a high turnover rate is a pretty good indicator of bad management.

As someone who works in retail: the home depot story, unfortunately it’s not only malicious compliance on the customer but the worker as well. I work in a store like Home Depot (and previous Walmart) that has the same policy: We can price match with other online stores, but if it is the physical’s store website (in this case home depot) we are not allowed. Because they mark those prices based on: region, surrounding town income, and your previous search history. So the store I currently work at is surrounded by high income neighborhoods, so our prices are higher than the store down the road that is surrounded by low income neighborhoods. So basically just capitalism being racist and greedy like always. (Racist Bc low income and high income neighborhoods where made to make social segregation via the housing market and gerrymandering)

I worked at Walmart when they stopped doing price matching. We had so many people coming up with old or fake ads and would throw a tantrum when we wouldn't honor them. @@mariposa9506 the housing market via gerrymandering and social segregation divided low and high in come neighborhoods, which disproportionately affected black communities, because they were poor neighborhoods already because of racism. It’s why HOAs are notoriously racist. Ever look at a district map for voting and see weird nonsensical shapes? Purposely done to make poor neighborhoods votes equal less than that of richer neighborhoods. It’s why ppl hate the voting system with the college so much. Within each district, the poor/low income neighborhoods were separated from the rich/high income neighborhoods, making it where when the poor people voted, their votes combined would be like 1 or 2 votes via electoral college where as when the rich people voted, it would make their votes be 3 or 4. It was made mainly to affect black people, to cut them out from voting as more and more laws were put in place to protect their votes. An underhanded way of suppressing their votes. While it does affect poor white people, it was mainly put in effect because of black votes.

Used to work for a retail clothing store and the logic of "the brick and mortar store is different from the online store" (as it was explained to me) is that they are literally treated as two different entities. Okay, the Home Depot could actually be explained. I worked at Lowe's and there was a problem with people hacking a price to be different on the online store, it was so bad that some items were to be checked whenever they came through. The real issue is that the guy didn't even TRY to check the online price, which is what I was taught to do.

Honeslty if you let an employee do that without making him responsible for the lost money, than this dude will literally tell everyone of his friends that they just need to come shopping with an MS paint crop of another price and he'll gladly sell it to them... @@Robin93k I was part of the internet fulfillment portion of the store, it was a form of hacking. as (an employee) would pull up the website in the store, and for like 3 seconds it would show a ridiculously low price, then it would update as the system detected something was wrong. These were not big ticket items either, but almost always 1 specific $40 item that went through the online store for $5.99. The item never went for such a low price and was marked as an item targeted for suck hacks. It was required at lowe's to reduce shrinkage, that was one of the issues I ran into that related to shrinkage. The item could go through for that price, if it was cleared after we flagged the order for suspicious pricing. Edit: So I'm clear, somehow hackers were causing lowe's website to accept false prices and send them through the system. The employee might have thought this was a similar thing related to an [Inspect Element] scam, the problem is he didn't even check the store on his computer, which would have confirmed or denied the price.

As a retired Power Company lineman/ repairman/ technician, over the early years, I got street light repair assignments. My boss only wanted me to work only repair tickets he gave me.... I grew up with the guys at the Fire Station, so they loved to tell me where street lights were out. I fixed them when I had time between other tickets. Boss found out and got really pissed at that. He demanded I only work his tickets because he was always calling me off them to take up slack for his lazier service guys. I was good friends with the Fire Marshall, and I explained to him how my boss wanted me to not fix broken lights turned into me by his Departments FD Employees. FM waited a few weeks then lodged a complaint with corporate about safety issues not being addressed in a timely manner. I got the go-ahead from our VP to keep the FD happy. Thus covertly going way over my bosses head. I loved those guys at the FD. They saved my life one time after I'd had a heat stroke. My boss wanted me to just walk it off, but the Captain threatened to arrest him for interfering with my medical emergency. ER Dr. said I was on the verge of death when they brought me in. He said just walking it off would have killed me in 30 minutes.....

The story about the lightbulbs: OP, YTA. The manager does NOT have the power to honor the deal. If corporate said “you can’t price match” then *he can’t price match, even if he wanted to.* Corporate could have fired him for honoring your price. So, what you *actually* did was waste the people in line’s time, and some poor employees time who did nothing wrong.

The conversation with the manager in the Home Depot story after the online purchase had been made, reminded me of the story of a man who looked out his window to his backyard and saw people breaking into his garden shed, which had a lot of expensive tools in it. He immediately called the police and told them that they breaking was happening At That Very Moment, and to send someone immediately. The dispatcher asked if the homeowner was in any danger. On learning he was inside, he was advised to stay inside, and said there was no one available to send, but that someone would be sent as soon as possible. The guy hangs up (the criminals still diligently working away), then the homeowner calls back after about 30 seconds, and tells the dispatcher, "Okay, there's no rush to send anyone right now; I've shot them all." Within about _two minutes_ four or five cop cars roar up, lights on, sirens blowing, and the thieves were all captured/arrested. One of the cops went to the homeowner, and said, "I thought you said you'd shot them." The homeowner replied, "I thought _you_ guys said you 'weren't available'..."

Hearing about street lights made me laugh. In Tucson, we don’t have street lights in neighborhood streets. If the people on a street want them, all of the neighbors have to agree because all of them will have to pay,not only for the insulation but for the electricity and bulbs. My neighborhood is beautifully dark. We can see stars and the telescopes at Kitt Peak have dark enough skies to operate. Even where there are lights on major streets, they are dim and have shades to keep the light from shining upwards. I love it. 20 miles out of town you can see the Milky Way ( not the candy).

I only know this because I actually worked as a cashier at Home Depot for a year and a half. However, if the customer is insistent on getting the online price, cashiers do have the power to mark a transaction down up to $50 without approval from a manager or supervisor.

A HALF hour lunch break? I had one manager who decided that an hour's lunch break ( as mandated by UK LAW AND the companies own rules ) was way to much and 'He' decided that lunch breaks would now only be for half an hour. Well 'sorry' boss...I'm sticking to the law and company rules ! He was also known to be a bully, so much so that one young lad actually tried to commit suicide ! So half an hour after I'd started my lunch he's standing by the staff room door just looking at me...not saying a word. When I eventually looked up ( I knew he was there...peripheral vision is a wonderful thing ) he said 'your due back from lunch'...I casually looked at my watch and told him I still have half an hour to go. I get the reply ' we operate under different rules to the other shops here'. Needless to say I sat there for the hour...then when I had to go out on an errand I phoned our head office. Next day the Managing director turned up...along with the staff director ( he and I got along very well ) plus a few other heads of departments AND a guy from the board of trade ! Long story short the manager was reamed ( thoroughly ) and lost a large chunk of his bonus for that year ( a pretty good sum...well into the thousands of pounds ) then he was ALSO reamed for not having the legal statutes posted on the staff notice board ( a legal REQUIREMENT BTW !) for which the company could have been fined for ! God only knows how but he actually kept his job !

5:35 to be clear...here in the us... it's illegal to interrupt a employees Break with Work related problems, chatting etc.... some states take it further making employers have to pay their employee for a hour premium regardless of the length of conversation if the employer wishes to press the matter after told by the employee they are on break...so a 10 sec convo? 1 hour of pay... others flat out basically don't ask for the "consent" ...if a employee is on break and you engage them with work related stuff... it's a 1 hr of pay for them since you have interrupted their lunch also several states make it clear you are to clear up what you are doing and punch for lunch before your 5th hour...some times quite literally drop what you are doing....and go to lunch 😈 lots of lovely malicious compliance with this one

Actually, call the neighbors Home Insurance Company about the pool and fence. This will have several consequences. First, it goes on the bools as a "claim" even if they don't file one. Second, they might have their Home Insurance cancelled for not being in compliance with the law. Third, Their Mortgage might require them to pay it off or even sell their house due to it being uninsured. For the record, in MOST of the states in the US 3 "claims" on the insurance means you HAVE to get insurance through the State Pool and it's about twice as expensive. These are not the same as when you file a claim for payment. These "claims" can be something as innocent as asking what is covered because you don't know if it is enough to meet your deductible or even if you are calling out of curiosity. 3 "claims" and you're out. Since it is on "real" property, they count "claims" made by previous owners. So if they had the roof replaced due to a hail storm, that one count against you and your property, whether you know about it or not. Insurance, like the IRS, does NOT care if you can cover it or not, they do what they do and they do not care about you. Yes there is a shared registry that shows what "claims" are on the property, so it doesn't matter that they are different insurance companies, ALL "claims" count against the property.

Back when I was in school I worked at WalMart as a cashier. We had the same policy when it came to online vs. in-store, or even store to store. The policy was we don't compete with other stores, and we don't compete with online. This upset a handful of customers, but our hands were tied by policy. I actually told people if that if they want the online store price, just buy online, get site-to-store and go from there. Same thing if the price was lower at another store. Basically had to tell them "go to that store and buy it" in a friendlier way. It didn't bother us either way. You might think it's malicious compliance, and in some cases it may seem to be, but most of the time, it's standard procedure.
