It appears that he is connecting to the spirit of the drum in the warm up. 🌸

I feel like the more relaxed you are, things become more fluid when you play or learn more technical stuff.

Watch your vids all the time l go to utube, Rónan. Great inspiration and charisma. Always struggling with the up-up down-down bussiness, the shoulder gets achy! Wonder how you get such speed and grip on that one :-) Greets 4m Portugal

Hiya .... yeah , loosen the shoulder and go for a kind of bounce ... the speed comes eventually . If you can , be patient with yourself and keep enjoying it all .

Cheers following the advise! You know, when l start that cadence in which l hit the skin properly and movin well and nice the forearm, the wrist follows this sort of hypnotic movement and can last for a long time with the upup mamadada rhythm. The shoulder doesnt strain, it is magik. Your vids in warming up are just brilliant. You cover many stuff other player teachers dont even think about. Thanks for taking the time to answer. Take care hope l see you some day in the streets of Baile Atha Cliath!

Do you ever play the bodhran with the palm of your hand? I threw away my stick. Should I get another?

When playing by hand with nonstick, does one use their knuckles or finger tips? It just seems it would become painful quickly.

Hiya Kelly O Carroll , my brother gave me a good tip ; " don't do the things that hurt ... " i find the floppy hand warm up lovely for me , the vibration and the loose shaking seems to lighten tensions in my muscels ... but be gentle , find a way that doesn't hurt and suits you . 👍🥁
