This is the game that made you feel like you were watching a movie, or anime, with lots of story driven elements to it. The fact that it took 3 games to finally settle the matter of the story shows how good storytelling can be, without the need for Full Motion Video, or endless chatter in games. The game would give you some backstory, drop you into locations, here's the bad guy, go destroy him and save the world, no need for 50 hours of gameplay. This was the first game with cutscenes and story told through them, Vice Project Doom/GunDec would take a page out of Ninja Gaiden, it too using cutscenes and narrative to tell quite the story.

Agreed. Personally I don't have much patience for super long modern games nowadays.

@@SashiroMiya They try to overtell story these days, cutscenes going on for way too long. Metal Gear Solid seemed to have started that trend, but not every developer is Hideo Kojima.
