What rSlash have taught me over the years: 1) Don't cut down your neighbours' trees 2) Never mess with the IT person and/or sysadmin 3) Always ask for things in writing 4) If you own a business; don't treat your employees like garbage. Especially not the only person who knows how to run things smoothly 5) If you're going to commit a crime, especially federal crimes; don't be a jerk to everyone around you. Depends on how lax the relationship is. Dude sounded like he just didn't manage what week of the month was very well, and friend didn't badger him about it. When the friend mentioned it was bothering him something massive, he immediately payed and payed up in future to make sure he couldn't fall behind again. With how little info was in there, it could be hostile, or it could be a petty friendly thing. My money is on them still having a lax relationship.

I love managers like this. I was in an SMB as the customer service manager with a young and just out of highschool staff. Being 24 at the time I had plenty of call centre and retail experience so I had already developed a thick skin to asshole customers. Because I wanted my staff to feel valued and because I had final say on how the team was run, any time my staff felt uncomfortable by a customer they were instructed to immediately pass the call to me with absolutely no additional information or context. My favourite tirade was something like "no, I don't care. I'm the manager, I have manager shit to do. I pay people to care and you treated them like shit. I trained them all myself and review their work daily so if you have a problem with them you have a problem with me. Now you get the manager level ultimatum instead of the customer service level service.". I would still offer the outcomes I expected of my staff but I was blunt and wouldn't sugar coat it. "You get either quick solution X, maximum benefit solution Y, or whatever the hell I feel like doing Z. Failure to clearly indicate what you want will result in Z." On the off chance they got a hold of my boss, they also had the opinion "we pay someone to do this so we don't have to. How did you get this number? Fuck off" I miss those days sometimes.

I've listened to folks who THOUGHT they had authority over people and situations but were shut down in magnificent style. I'm trying to figure out how to put this... Imagine all the big wigs in a planning session with a super bigwig there that they were all trying to impress. By impress, I mean talking down to little supposed peons while sucking up to him. A plan was put on the table and the peon informed the super bigwig that he was a dumbass for not taking anything more than numbers into account as people don't act like numbers and the plan would fall apart the instant any implementation was attempted. The peon then put the alternative plan, put together with a team of peons who knew the job intimately. The peon team got the plan enacted leaving the local bigwigs pissed. That stewed for over five years before the local bigwigs "retired" the offending peon who lead that team. On the upside, a lot of lives were saved... The downside, five years of misery for that peon who watched each member of that team fired, retired, or made to quit.

As someone who spent the early days of WoW having to play on a computer with 90's specs and on minimum dial-up Internet speed, the pain of playing with bad fps and random disconnects was bad enough. Had I lived in a shared student apartment, I would never provoke anyone to intentionally ruin my gaming experience. But by the sound of things, the guy in the first OP's story had bigger problems than being frequently disconnected. He needed anger management therapy. The kind of abusive person he might've turned into today is likely the kind who would get thrown into jail because someone even slightly inconvenienced him in his daily life - not to mention maintaining his lazy and irresponsible behavior.

Getting disconnected from games does really suck. Though I was playing a different MMO, a long time ago I had to deal with a weak wifi signal from the kitchen where the microwave would actually interfere with it. I had to sign on to do late night boss raids because I couldn't do them when it was dinner time or else risk that someone decides to cook potatoes in the microwave for a couple minutes while I'm in the middle of fighting the top end boss at the time.
@melkiorwiseman52342 жыл бұрын
ProTip: If your microwave oven is leaking enough signal to interfere with your wi-fi, it's dangerous and needs to be thrown out and replaced. Bonus ProTip: If it's caused by the power browning-out due to the load of the microwave oven running, then your house wiring is dangerous and desperately needs replacing.
@Zeekfox2 жыл бұрын
@@melkiorwiseman5234 It was definitely just messing with the signal. We weren't losing power at all. I was just losing my signal on my laptop. And that was a long time ago, so the microwave has definitely been replaced since.

@@Scarleto If he does his own dishes like I said in my post if you actually read instead of reading alittle then jump to comments. That also means putting them away.
