The first story is simple: If OP did gloat, they could have had his name in recording, and he could be sued for his actions. So, since we don't know who the person actually is, he got his revenge and got away clean and fresh like a ripe cucumber.

@@kikomefoxy5966 We had something similar here where people would leave trash bags by other house's trash bins. Garbage collectors wouldn't take the laying trash bags (especially during winter) so they'd complain to the owners of the houses. The owners would report that the trash belonged to others but they couldn't prove it. If the people tried putting the trash bags back in front of the house of the ones who set them out in the first place, the cops would get called and have to tell them to stop since they couldn't prove one way or the other who the bags belonged to. Eventually this got settled when someone's home camera caught them.

I mean its not like if they come investigate they are going to find YOUR trash inside those bags. Its the neighbors own. But I will say that knocking down a perfectly livable house instead of reselling it to someone who needs it or a friend or something is kinda fucked. It just feels like overkill and a waste of all the power lines and plumbing and everything that taxpayers are funding the maintenance of out of spite for someone they already beat.

When they accuse you, look the cop in the eye and say "Wait, so my neighbor has been throwing _their own_ trash out on their roof for weeks/months, and now that it's a problem they told you that _I_ threw it up there? Why would I even have their trash? Are they saying that they threw in in my yard first?" And then they're stuck. The cops claim they can't 'prove' the neighbor did it, or told their kid to... like if a kid does it, it's okay or something? Whatever half-logic they're running on is now being used against them.

Re: Story #1. I work in the alcohol industry (in the US) on the distribution side. That kind of drop in sales to a large retailer would have higher-ups digging into the issue. Also, what kind of crappy sales rep doesn't go to the stores to chat and check inventory themselves? Our reps call each store every week and stop in at each store every other week at the very least. While I can see the individual store managers accepting OP's explanation (I deal with a chain that has very strict pricing requirements and we block items to them all the time due to this) the sales rep seriously failed. Sounds like the owners just have terrible employees all around.

The second story reminds me of something that happened to my dad, about 25 years ago my dad bought a lot to build our house and a body shop right beside it, shortly after that he bought the lot beside our to make the body shop and make our house bigger. The area around us was empty, no houses nor businesses just empty lots. Since at the time my dad was making good money on the body shop he ended up buying 7 more properties in our street and built warehouses and big yards to fit cars and car parts. About 15 years ago our street became a Main Street on our town, many houses were built by then and many businesses were just opening. A new neighbor decided that he wanted didn’t wanted to see his house beside a big body shop with many crashed cars inside and the traffic it created having many clients from 8am to 6pm. He tried to get signs from other neighbors to have my dad close his business on the street because it was an eyesore to the community.mind you my parents house is the nicest in the neighborhood and the design of the body shop is made to complement our house beside its. Even the warehouse and the yards have block walls with designs in it so kind of make them look nice and not an industrial zone. In city hall he was told that they couldn’t do nothing because my dad had the most time on that street and with so many properties he had just in that street that he could easily outvote him if it was needed. My dad offered him to buy his house at market value, saying it was easier for the neighbor to move out, than us closing our business. Turns out that he didn’t have the paperwork to sell the house because his father in law gave it to them and never put the deed in their name and in his will the father in law put some else as the beneficiary . And it turns out his house was invading part of one of our properties. City hall said the neighbors would need to demolish everything over our property if my dad wanted to. Since the neighbors couldn’t sell without making a big fuss with lawyers to get the correct paperwork(if they could), my dad told them he wouldn’t demolish the part of the property they were invading but they needed to stop their bs for trying to put the neighbors against him. I Know the a cool ending would’ve been demolishing their house and tell them to F off but my dad didn’t really wanted to screw that family over and he really just wanted them to know that he could screw them over a lot more than what they could if they try. To this date we still have a tense relationship with them but nothing major.

The garbage bag story reminds me of that time I rented a house in a pricey Toronto neighborhood in the early 00's. As many know, after moving and getting new stuff, you have a ton of garbage in the first weeks. We had a limit of 3 bags per household per week. So, trying to manage the situation without being a butthole, I went out 10 minutes before the garbage truck would pass, and add a few bags in front of some neighbours' houses to bring it up to the limit. Since their own trash was out, it wouldn't inconvenience them, and it would allow me to get rid of mine in a few weeks instead of months. A few minutes after I did this, I heard a loud TUNK coming from the front door. My next door neighboor had dropped back the bag I left in front of her house and left a post it saying "DON'T put your trash in front of other people's house."... Let's just say I made it really awkward for her a few months later when her son had moved back in, and needed to borrow one of my parking spots for a few months.... don't be an asshole to your neighbors, peeps.

The second story is a perfect example of living within your means vs living above your means. The OP is living in a much smaller house then he can likely afford, while the renters are living in an area they can afford to rent only.(Though with how the housing market is, they might never be able to get a house.)

A city near me decided that garbage pick up was a pain for all involved and made a deal with a waste management company. They got the whole city. Dumpters/bins/everything and if you live in city limits and pay city taxes you get free trash pick-up. Its going on 4 years now and works beautifully for them. They pay less in city tax than our city does. Our city has the purple $1.25 each(or 10 for $10) bags but also 4 other trash pick up companies. So every morning. I mean every morning, a different trash company comes through town. Isn't that lovely. Our city taxes are more than a ritzy city near us. We all wonder where the hell all the tax money goes? 🤔🤔

On the trash bag story, I use to have neighbors who did something similar but it’s because they just leave trash around their home. So much trash that they need more than two trash bins for them and in my town the most you can have at most is 2 trash bins but I think you can have more but you have to pay a fee. So the neighbors started throwing their trash in peoples backyard and front lawn, sometimes even walking to people’s trash bins and dumping their trash into them causing the person’s bin to overfill. Well for my house they just throw the bags in the backyard thinking we’ll put it in our bin. My dad told them to stop but they told my dad to fuck off, so what my dad starting doing is every time they throw the bags my dad saved them. Then when they leave the house my dad will go over there with one of his workers and using the ladder they have go to the neighbors roof and dropped the bags. To make it even better some of the trash was weeks old so they smelled really bad especially in the Texas heat, and when they dropped the bags they made sure to cut the bags up a bit. So when the neighbors have to pick up the bags it’ll spill some of the nasty trash on the roof or completely come apart and then have to spend time picking the trash off their roof. The neighbors got mad and try to figure out who did it but the rest of neighbors said they didn’t know who (they did know but don’t want rat out my dad, plus some starting doing the same thing like my dad expect in the backyard or front lawn) until the neighbors got so fed up they move and left, then my dad brought the house and now rents it out.

The pay is higher, but the cost of living and taxes are higher too. A 2 pound/1 kilo boneless pork leg roast is $9 bucks a kilo on sale. A scotch filet is $32 bucks a kilo. Rents about $500, usually a lot more per WEEK! If you make decent money or work a lot of overtime. After you hit $1305 gross the government gets .48 cents of every dollar after that. Current minimum wages are $20.33 at present. Most people in other countries think wow that’s a lot! I can live like a king! Not with the cost of everything here you can’t. 40 hours you gross $813.20. Figure $200 to taxes. You’ve $613 left. Fuels about $2 bucks a leader/quart. $80 to fill up every week leaves $533. Rent $450 at the least, (if your extremely lucky) and you don’t mind crappy place to sleep. Leaves $83 for food, and everything else. Thank goodness you spouse/partner works too! Good luck buying a house, especially with needing 10% or usually more down payment. This didn’t include your car payment(s) any insurances. Full time childcare will hit you about $300 out of pocket too, more if you don’t qualify for government subsidies. The good thing you get free medical, but not medicine. And it usually takes months to get into a specialist. The less of a priority, the longer. You’ll need the medical from all the before mentioned stress. A 24 pack of beer cost you about $40 or better. If you go to a club for a drink, better bring your credit card. But not to worry, the better places usually have an ATM machine for your convenience.

Story 1: What rSlash doesn't seem to get with that first story is if you tell someone you wronged them in "profit lost", they can go after you legally because, capitalism. if OP told them what they did, they would be facing legal troubles. It's better left a costly mystery. Story 2: That might be a "pro" revenge move, but it was pretty petty. Either way, bravo OP Story 3: This one spells out why 1st Story's OP didn't rub it in their faces, "lost profit" suits.

3rd story. The neighbour s very lucky it wasn’t me. This is why, and what I’d of done. Saved her trash bags for 1-2 months in my shed or garage. Depending on how many bags there were. I’d want at least 8, but 12 would be best. I’d load 7-8 bags in my car/truck on a stormy rainy night. Take those bags and throw them off a back road somewhere rip them up a bit so the trash is spread and the wild animals can tear it up more and easier. Someplace that ripped trash bags wouldn’t be appreciated. Wait 4-6 days after checking it was spread by driving by it. I would report the trash to the police, and other county offices. Everyone throws out there trash with mail with there name and addresses on them. When she has to clean it up, and maybe get fined for doing it. The first time they might go easy on her. This is where the other bags come into play, and why you kept the extra bags from before. You drop the rest of the trash you kept at a different location and do the same thing again. If I was feeling like a real jerk. I’d of collected more more bags from her before the law contacted her giving you bags to do it 3 times total. The second and third time they will not be so nice, and do more to her then just make her clean it up. If she was smart she wouldn’t of thrown any more envelopes or other things that had her address on it. That’s why you saved some bags from before she was busted. When you rip the bags open you can also keep a few letters or other thing that have he address on them and plant them in other roadside bags that you get from her kid throwing them in your yard. She will know who did it, but she really can’t say she had her kid throw them in your yard. Now can she? This also works on any jerk neighbour you may have. Just grab a bag or two from the curb at 3am. Save them and repeat.

It sort of is. Usually its a way of hiding the true cost of razing rates. That normal trash bag that might have cost 10 cents, is now $1.50... And if the cheap crappy bag they branded breaks well, "To bad, so sad. Go buy another." And the money goes to the city. At least that's what was going on in my home town when I was leaving. Same with then requiring special branded trash cans that you pay for that keep changing every few years for no reason...
