Here's the thing, they probably did get hit but with how lazy the CTO is he probably implemented no form of IDS (Intrusion Detection System) so they had no idea about who was in and out on their system. Unless multiple customers who got hit talk with each other and determine that business with said company was a common denominator, it's pretty much honors system for companies to monitor for, and notify folks they keep information on.

One reason I like channels like yours is because Reddit isn’t compatible with Text to Speech on my iPhone. To listen to a Reddit story, I have to click on their “Copy” feature, open Notes, paste it in a note, then highlight the text. Only THEN do I have the ability to use Text to Speech. It is so annoying that I mainly use this method to read very long stories. I am close to 70, and my eyesight just isn’t as good as it was when I was a sapling of 20. Yes, passwords are a huge deal, especially in this day and age. Where I work we actually had to change our reset policy. Phishers have been hitting harder and harder lately, almost biweekly for my organization. While most users are getting hardened from the constant attempts, a few here and there always fall for it. So when someone gets phished, our old way was to reset it back to their DOB. So the phishers started including DOB fields on their phishing forms, and their bots would automatically guess their DOB if it suddenly lost access to their account. So we had to come up with other methods to determine what to reset users' passwords to when they forget.

This password was changed regularly, usually when someone left. This is a shit company to work for so people left all the time. It happened so often we couldn't keep up with the changes. In the end people just wrote it down and used a sticky note to attach it to their desks. One day we discover someone on the cleaning crew had been using this access to sniff the traffic and interfere with the business transactions of a couple of large corporations. For this reason, and many, many others, the ISP no longer exists. Second worst job I've ever had.

The thing that gets me about the last story and similar ones that show up on malicious compliance is how the OP gets away with no reprocussions. He knew his boss wasnt reading the logs, so he knew he hadnt communicated the problem. The boss is still at fault but OP made the situation worse by not sending a separate email saying hey we have an issue. If i did that at work i would be fired for not bringing enough attention. Like good for him getting the boss fired but it looks bad that he would rather let an issue persist to prove a point then resolve it properly.

If anyone’s wondering about the Raycons, I actually bought them and they are just as Rslash described. They have changeable sizes, they’re magnetic and stick together, just don’t lose the case. In case anyone wants to buy them

I usually get this first thing when I wake up. I haven't gone to sleep yet. Fuck insomnia.

i remember a Story: so my bosses Boss (BBoss) is a Soccer Fan. His Team is Kickers Offenbach (3. League Germany) and this Team has sort of a strong fan rivalry with Borrusia Dortmund. So one day one of my coworkers toke my BBosses Kicker-Offenbach coffee mug and then printed out a Borrusia Dortmund logo and glued it onto the mug. My BBos walked with this mug all morning from meeting to meeting. About 2 to 3 h later BBoss come flying into the office and yelled:" WHO IS THE CRIMINAL", holding up his mug and then the whole office including BBoss bursts into laughter.

You are right about people not wanting to read long things. We have a saying at my work that it an e-mail is longer than 3 lines, most people are not going to read it.

In my case, it’s not so much that I don’t like to read, it’s that I like having something to listen to and occasionally glance at in the background while doing other things. Multitasking is what I try to make my norm, so these fit super well, even if I’m just goofing off with this playing.

I know you said you made this channel because people don't like to read very much. True. I listen because I'm a ceramic artist and I can't touch technology while I'm working. Your channel gives me access to fun reddit stories that I otherwise would get to read. Thank you! I love your channel and I tell all my friends, relatives, and even some of my students about it. You're the best!

It would have been easy for any hacker to pretend they’re the CTO and email everyone saying “This is my two weeks notice. I’m moving to Mars in a month.” or tell OP “Hey, OP! How about a raise? I want to pay you $10,000 per hour!”

The fact that you can identify the IP address if a former employee gains access to private customer info means nothing if they use that info to steal the identity, or post it online just to be a jerk. That customer has a huge mess to sort out - plus the company is legally liable - and the fact that you’ve identified the former employee’s IP address (assuming they didn’t just go to an Internet cafe) is meaningless to that person or people.

There is nothing that can make someone as unable to read as money. Im a security guard, its been 4 years, i worked in many different posts, most people will not read or obey any signs posted on buildings, and will absolutely not follow any rules. Should you dare point out that they are in the wrong, its a huge argument. So yes, people do not like to read. Im in South Africa btw. Love your content.

In my experience, a lot of corporate policies were based around just hoping that bad things didn't happen.

Re 15-min time tracker - I did this voluntarily as a 10-min tracker. It was eye-opening - both in terms of how much work I got done and how much time was wasted by *other people*. Leveraged that record into working from home.
