Nithyasree Mahadevan is a popular Carnatic musician and film playback singer. She was the disciple and granddaughter of Sangeetha Kalanidhi D K Pattammal. She has performed in almost all major Indian Sabhas and released more than 500 albums. She made her debut as a playback singer in Kannodu Kaanbhathallam song composed by A R Rahman, which won her the TN State Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer in 1998.

Genius of ARR or IR is their knack of extracting the BEST out of each Singer, Player or Instrumentalists. By DEVINE power, something in their mind and heart says "this particular project is indeed complete or it needs improvisation". Till that time comes they keep working at it day and night. Once they say "It is ready to go out" then the Product MUST be enthralling to the listeners.....Great Latha Mangeshkar once said "For the first time I went to ARR's Chennai Studio one morning. He was not there in AM hours usually. His Assistants gave the Track and instructed me on the pronunciation of the words. His request for me was "Give your Best output. That's all. You can leave anytime you want. My people will guide you all the way to the end". After several trials, I finished my singing & left after a few hours. After a few days, ARR sent me the Final Product... and I could not believe my ears.. I sounded 100x better than what I left with him! That was Devine Magic that Allah has given ARR!"😁

I'm a great fan of madam Nithyashree, especially her unique voice. My favorite was minsara povea!! wish she sang more songs in cinema... just a request if she happened to read this..🙂 hope she sings Sivapuranam and Kanakadhara sostram in tamil with a little cinematic touch !!! So we can listen to her everyday, for years..
