An Alpine Symphony (Eine Alpensinfonie), Op. 64, is a tone poem for large orchestra written by German composer Richard Strauss in 1915. It is one of Strauss's largest non-operatic works; the score calls for about 125 players and a typical performance usually lasts around 50 minutes. The program of An Alpine Symphony depicts the experiences of eleven hours (from daybreak just before dawn to the following nightfall) spent climbing an Alpine mountain. (Wikipedia)

Bei den Orchesterwerken von Strauss höre ich mir die Musik an, ohne mich um irgendwelche Programme zu kümmern. Diese würden mich nur stören und einengen. Die Musik wirkt (für mich) alleine.

Odd tempo choices and very devoid of the emotional content. It seemed that Jurowski was not interested in the piece or the performance.
