Cummingtonite was named after the town where it was discovered. It was found in Cummington MA. The town name wasn't a joke either. It was names after Colonel John Cumings. Google says it was settled in 1662 but formally established in 1779. Also, a few of them were in other languages. HOY CUM PLES (Hoy cumples) is Spanish. It's a birthday card.

In Sweden we also have an ice cream called Nogger, not sure if it's the same. Basically a core of relatively hard chocolate with vanilla ice cream around it and a thin layer of chocolate around that, all on a popsicle stick. It is in the shape of an extruded rectangle with rounded corners and a tapered top. Also, want to talk about weird snacks, there's a chewing gum here called "Camel Balls" the package is just what you would expect, a camel with a huge ballsack hanging down.

reminds me of a story my mother used to tell. she worked at a food stand at the cricket grounds to make extra cash as a teen/young adult, and every single game there would be this older guy who spoke english as a second language, and with a very very thick accent that would come and order some food, as well as a drink. so he'd get his snacks, and a large coke, every time. except with his accent, it sounds very much like he was asking for a large c*ck (*o) and my mother said she and her coworkers never really got used to is, and had to hold back laughter and try to keep a straight face each and every time he ordered his favourite cricket game edible goodies.

It is less of things not aging well, and more to the definitions and connotation associated with them. Such as Richard Nixon's campaign slogan. I won't repeat it here for a very obvious reason, but feel free to look into it

You got it right that sheaths are usually for knives. They're made primarily just of leather or other soft materials. Scabbards are made of wood, metal, or some other rigid material and are used for both double and single edged swords.
