So a person may take something from my property and claim it was abandoned?

Hi Mike, No, not at all. The later golf club cases (which will also be covered on this channel) clarified that in the case of a *private* golf club, or any other private land, where there has been a clear intention to exclude the public, then the occupier of the land is presumed to be in possession of all that is on that land. As a result those items, which are *possessed* cannot be considered *abandoned*. Hope that helps!
