Montreal-born, Toronto-based Juno Award-winning, singer-songwriter Briannah Donolo aka Rêve (“dream” in French) was discovered when her performance of the national anthem at a Canadiens de Montréal game went viral.
Rêve intends to create the soundscape that lives in her mind: playful, pop, and R&B influenced dance music that draws its inspirations from the heydays of '90s sophisticated Euro sound.
In this episode of Ten-Minute Topline, host Eve Parker Finley challenges Rêve to write an '80s synth pop track about taxes.
Ten-Minute Topline is a CBC Music series produced by The Creator Network about the art, joy and challenge of composing a melody, presented in the form of a hilarious and insightful gamified music interview.
Lyrics: “Death & Taxes” by Rêve
(Yeah)
You and me, baby
We're meant to be,
Guaranteed
You can't run from me
Loving you,
Endlessly
Death and taxes,
You can't hide forever
