I met this incredible girl, we had the best week ever, everything great you can imagine. But she had already bought an apartment in another city, and just like that, she moved away. This song brings the wonderful memories and nights together fresh into my mind like a sharp melodic dagger of the most exquisite pain. Life is pain, but it is beautiful too.

I had this thing to call my own Just one slip and it was gone A minor flaw and then it fell I brought this house down on myself I didn't know just what I'd done I didn't know just what I'd done I don't remember anymore what I used to be Where is the quiet piece of home where I could breathe? Just like a razor to my soul when I'm alone Oh, I had this thing to call my own I'm so confused, I cannot see This wave of guilt is drowing me It feels like blood is on my hands I'd give it all for a second chance I still don't know just what I've done I still don't know just what I've done I don't remember anymore what I used to be There was a fire burning strong inside of me Just like the soothing loving warmth of summer sun Oh, I had this thing to call my own I had this thing to call my own I had this thing to call my own I never meant to let you go I never meant to let you go I never meant to let you go I never meant to let you go

I always thought this song was an incredible electronic/dance song, and while it still is, it was only last summer that I realized how devastatingly heartbreaking it is. A song that usually got me up and dancing suddenly had me breaking down in tears. And now in retrospect, this might be the best song I've ever heard

The way the distress builds in the latter half it really conveys the emotions before falling off, sort of the way that kind of thing leaves you bereft and drained. This whole song always tears me to shreds.

This song is for Bleu & myself… I too loved it at first…. Once we went through our thing… I’d hear this & I couldn’t breath. But now, after everything… it still brings tears to my eyes & sits heavy in my chest. However, I know all of this is for the best. We all have to lay in those beds we make. I will love you forever, even as I choose to move on! We will never be those people we were when we first met……. We’re unrecognizable now! 😢

I play this song for the part of me that has been locked away through mental health problems (and ultimately my own non-actions), what arguably is the best part of me, and the hollow shell I stand as now, void that I'm now filled with, this song reminds me of the warmth and joy I once had before I took on such a nihilistic & defeatist attitude
