R1 10,000maH 2S Lipo. Bigger is best? Comparison and tests.2019

Nice comparison. R1 Wurks now have a 10,000mah 130c so in theory, it should put perform these competitors by a country mile…have u tested todays batteries as I noticed that this was done 3 yrs ago?

I've been doing these same type of tests for awhile as well. Where the LiHV really shine is after 2 or 3 cycles. Nothing extreme on the cycles, just basic charge and discharge. But the IP based LiHV really stands out and out performs the non HV packs. The issue is, you need to cycle them like this before each use (day of racing) to liven them up. Then they really outperform everything.

From what I understand of Silicon-graphene batteries, they intercalate silicon particules between the graphene sheets of the graphite anode (so it's not really graphene) in order to minimise degradation of the anode and it makes it possible to charge it at a higher voltage without having a rapid unscheduled disassembly !

Hi. There seems to be a lot of claims about graphene in batteries. I am not sure any of it is really graphene. But the lipos are getting more reliable, with less failures. so they are improving them.

It is very difficult to find U.K. stockists for Sunpadow. Demon Power Products have been out of stock for your tested 8400mAh for months. Anyhow, I found a supplier in the end. Purchased their last two batteries. Thank you very much for your comprehensive review with sales and marketing technical explanations. It greatly helped my decision making process. Without a doubt, those RC batteries are hideously overpriced and they know that; but what can one do?

Hi. I normally recommend Intellect IP lipo, as they are one of the best performers and are less expensive than most others. I agree Lipo are high price, but it is possible to buy some at a cheaper price from direct suppliers like HobbyKing. All the best racing. Nick

It looks like the Sunpadow is the best pack in the list. At each of your volt measurements that pack seems to have the highest voltage reading. I look for the voltage reading more than full runtime because we run in timed races vs longest distance.

Buggies are all sizes and speeds. They often can only fit a smaller battery because of weight distribution. Also if you fit a very powerful motor, then the gears etc may not take the power and will break. 4WD buggies normally can take a bigger battery, whatever you can fit in the size. High power motors may also be too much for the ESC. 2WD can be fast with a motor around 10.5T.

Have you cycled the Lipos before testing? In my experience a fresh Lipo doesnt have full performance on first charge. Charge, discharge, charge again and then do the discharge test.

Hi Seb. Thanks for the feedback info. I do cycle the lipos, and retest when I think the result could be better. I also test again when I do another comparison. I have also tested with heated cells. I do try and get the best out of a cell, so as to give the fairest comparison. The lipo can vary slightly, but it is rare to find much variance. All the best. Nick

Hi Lupus. Sorry, I have no plans to test 3S. But if you buy a make that I have tested with 2S, then the 3S will perform equally as well.

Hi Mason. ZOP lipos are very good value and are aimed at RTR , Rock Crawlers etc. They have connecting leads, which are not allowed in the competition classes. They would not compare to these competition lipos. But they are reasonable power and duration.

Meanwhile today i have a battery thats 6s, has 6ah of capacity and has a 150c rating with a burst c rating of 300c, thats 900 amps continuous. And because its lihv, it can charge to 26.1v 😂
