Keep those videos coming ArxangelRC!HD FPV system is still in early age but when you find a good HD FPV system I'll be watching! Untill then I'll go on with my analogue system for long range.

Funny thing... today I got the new DVLC HD system from R2Teck... so expect a review and tests on it pretty soon... I hope! :) Air module has certainly gone through A TON of changes!
@docromano6 жыл бұрын
As for longer range HD link maybe you could take a look at the DJI Occusync system that you get with the racing goggles from them. Considering the quality/range on Mavics/P4s it should perform quite well. You can even include your control link into the data stream. And since the goggles are very nice, well...you get my drift ;)
@ArxangelRC6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, got a suggestion about it! Will look into it... certainly has the right price... might just work with some directional antennas... and perhaps if it could have a booster added!
@lesjack1376 жыл бұрын
There's talk on the DJI threads about the air module being buggy, it only supports a limited range of FCs and few OSD parameters - not enough info for even medium range.
@ArxangelRC6 жыл бұрын
Even so, I don't really need the HD link to support any FC or an OSD at this time... just need the range! :D For the time being, trusting an HD link to be the sole video link to the plane is out of the question, even if it is a DJI one, so I will have a parallel analogue one running as well! :)

Good to see this kind of testing, whatever the system - HD video is definitely the future.

Thanks mate! It is the future... I hope they get it sorted quick though! :)

At long range and high up, your antennas are blocked by the fuselage. Antennas might work better under the plane facing down?
@ArxangelRC6 жыл бұрын
Actually, if it was only HIGH up, then yes, they might get blocked a bit, but when you add the long range bit, actually from your point of view not a lot can block the antennas except the wing tips of the tail fins, and foam is pretty much transparent to these radio frequencies.

Hello from North Carolina, United States, and thank you for all of your dedication and hard work. While I am always looking for a better "mouse trap" as it relates to high res video for long range fixed wing flights, I am really waiting for your detailed test and evaluation of the AKK FX2-Ultimate 5.8 GHz switchable video transmitter supporting 25, 200, 600, and 1200 mw. As you are aware, higher frequency short wavelength radio waves present a variety of problems with electrical grids, man made structures, and extreme topography. I am hoping to push the range of 5.8 GHz to 25 km/. Thanks you once more for your tremendous efforts. sasdthoh ) Paul )

Thanks Paul, appreciate the nice words! I did fly with the X2 yesterday... and even though I did experience some problems, which I still have to analyse and figure out... and redo the test... but I got some pretty impressive image at 27kms... so I'd say you can surely do 25kms with this one, and have some usable image! :)

It is not clear to me now whether or not you can recommend the system for planes. A comparison with the new Aomway Nexus V2 would be great. 😊
@ArxangelRC4 жыл бұрын
I do not have the new Aomway Nexus system... but in any case... so far none of these systems have proven adequate for plane use... the DJI one still is the best choice in my opinion!

Noticed your 9LR antennas are up high again. . . did your range suffer when they were mounted down low along the body of the aircraft?
@ArxangelRC6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that was a result of what happened during this test: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5DMi6WDh8RkoJI Apparently... putting them on the sides of the fuselage and pointing down... something didn't quite work there!

Hi, does it transmit video and audio. Or video only?

I haven't really tried it on a monitor with a speaker... it should move the audio over as well... no reason not to!
@tomrosch86906 жыл бұрын
The osd said 5220 MHz. I think this is the reason why the directional antennas made for 5.8 GHz didn't perform well.
@ArxangelRC6 жыл бұрын
Hmmmm... you are correct! Didn't think of that at the time... though I wonder how much of a difference it would have made! Antennas at 5.8Ghz have a pretty wide resonating range...
@slavikarg6 жыл бұрын
You need to test a Connex with some good directional lantennas.
@ArxangelRC6 жыл бұрын
Not sure I want to... first... I'd have to get 5 directional antennas... and then the Connex system is expensive... and it is very limited in power, in order to be legal around here, etc.! Might sound weird... but illegal power level is way more fun! :D

Hi, I’m wondering what you think is the closest to rtf long range plane I’m new to the hobby but am mostly interested in long range ?
@ArxangelRC6 жыл бұрын
Well... not sure I've heard of RTF long range. Not sure there is such a thing! Although it depends on what you consider to be long range! :)
@Chris_Paul16 жыл бұрын
Pierce - BANG SCIENCE easiest option would be a bix 3 or volentex ranger. Combine that with the biggest 3s multi star battery that will fit and for video get a 1000mw Aomway 5.8vtx and either uhf or 2.4 Frsky L9R for radio.For antennas either get a Decent Pagoda or skew planer on the VTX and for the RX try have diversity with another matching pagoda or skew and a 7 turn helical. This should give u about 10km range. And don't forget the OSD autopilot. U need an Autopilot for long range.

is there any delay on this system?

Sadly, yes!
@camaro920266 жыл бұрын
I put my video transmitter on a gimbal that pans 360 on heading lock to keep the directional antenna straight up and down and pointed back to the ground station antenna no matter what. Range double to 400k with 2000mw 1.2G VTX. I used the G4S gimbal by feiyu tech
@ArxangelRC6 жыл бұрын
That sounds good... but you will have to fly generally straight away from you, and then straight back! The gimbal will not lock onto your position, just your direction, if you move too far to the side, it will not rotate to point to home point. But this is a good scheme if you want distance in a single direction!
@camaro920266 жыл бұрын
ArxangelRC i can fly up close and 1.5 miles to each side before the video See's any problems When not using a tracker on the GS. 16 miles to each side when using a tracker on the GS. But normally I fly out in front of me. The side to side range gets even better when I'm farthest out in front.
@Bidon5556 жыл бұрын
Does this system support lower resolutions/bandwidths? For fpv 720p should be more than adequate. If possible, would that increase the range?
@ArxangelRC6 жыл бұрын
Supposedly it does, though I have no idea how to get it in that mode... it choose automatically! Furthermore, 720p is at 60fps, which is about the same bitrate as 1080p at 30fps... so not sure that would yield more range to be honest...

Can you range test the xm+? Thanks!
@ArxangelRC6 жыл бұрын
I will! I installed it on my Nano Talon with that very purpose in mind: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHrcZ2yLYtR8aJY Problem is, as of this moment I do not trust iNav enough to send the plane that far out! So far I've been out to 1.7kms, but iNav does some weird stuff and I just am afraid to trust it, so will be putting a Mini Pix (goo.gl/nfX1Sp) in the NT, and will do the range test then, after which I might put an R9 Slim (goo.gl/cZEwLS) in the plane, and at least know I've got a tone of range! :)

5.8G will never be long range, the frequency is too high. The antenna tuning is also very critical due to the very high frequency. FPV Blue have the right idea....Long Range, even at relatively low altitudes.
@ArxangelRC6 жыл бұрын
You are comparing 1.3Ghz to 5.8Ghz with FPV.blue... not a fair fight! 5.8ghz can be long range, but it does require a lot of good gear, while you can afford to half ass it with the lower frequencies and you would still get some decent range!
@Ehsan_156 жыл бұрын
Fpv.blue and dji ocusync air system are much better options.
@ArxangelRC6 жыл бұрын
Sure, but DJI Lightbridge and Occusync are different technologies! The Occusync system is not available as a standalone solution like the Lightbridge is! As for FPV. Blue... watch the video to the end, I did talk about both of them! You can't really buy FPV.Blue right now and there is no telling when the second batch will be ready! Plus, it is 1.3Ghz, which heavily interferes with 2.4Ghz control, and especially for people with copters, who very rarely use anything other than 2.4Ghz, this could be a problem.

That's what I've read around... you need to use some filters, etc., to get that working properly, and even then it is not what it could be, if you had 5.8Ghz video!
