Love this video. Thanks for sharing this. I have the same issue on my car and was scratching my head at how to approach this. It was so cool to watch the timelapse of the bent area slowly straighten out. Would love to see you continuing making these videos. This car has your blood, sweat and tears lol .

Almost every R32 Skyline GTR has this issue. I liked seeing your technique in initiating the repair. I plan on getting replacement sill plates from SR Autosource in the UK to fix my rockers.

I am dealing with the same struggle. Having to make new inner sills and repair jack point corrosion. Good luck with the restoration, hopefully less injuries lol

@@johnSR32 It took about a year due to having to learn but knowing what I know now, I could finish it much quicker and better. Overall, it's not bad but I would like to take another shot at it to have it be much better. Maybe one day when I don't have a million things going on and it not be 120 degrees in this Texas garage I'll give it another shot.

After looking at this vid I'm kind of wondering if your clamps with the turnbuckles really did much. I'm thinking you could have probably just done it with the one clamp you put the bar in and hit. In fact, I think a much longer bar and just putting your weight on (perhaps with a friend watching to tell you when it was straight) would have been just as, if not more effective, and safer. That being said I am liking how you figured out how to do the repair without garage floor tie-downs and without having to get the car high enough to work a slide hammer under it (and I'll be off to do this myself in the next couple days).

The series of clamps does a lot more work than just a single clamp. With the single clamp, there is a lot of localized force. But with the additional clamps under tension, the whole section comes down with each tap of the hammer, which is why they're so beneficial. Of course, that is assuming you don't go crazy and pull things down too far. If you use the same method, just pay attention to the lower bar and don't let it pull the cribs out from under the wheels. That was my primary concern.

@@motorwerk3210 have you ever tried it with just one clamp?
@motorwerk32102 жыл бұрын
@@hooptierescue2540 I did when I was messing around before I really started recording. Don't get me wrong, it will work with a single clamp. But having even one additional clamp to pull while you tap on the other one makes it substantially more effective. I used the three because I wanted to pull the entire seam down at once and minimize deformation caused by the localized force of one clamp.

@@motorwerk3210 ok, thanks for the info. I need to do this TODAY!

What clamps are those? Link?

They're auto body clamps. There are different sizes.
