Beautiful and amazing airship museum thanks for sharing

Enjoyed seeing the quaint village of Pullman St. Mary and visiting the airship museum, Alice. Loved hearing the narrated log of the Atlantic Crossing. It sure was a different age of air travel. That being said, when we visit Kathy's sister just north of Pompano Beach Florida, my brother n law and I sit out on their balcony and watch the "Goodyear Blimps" taking off and landing. I assure you the alcohol being consumed has nothing to do with it! But, it does make it more fun! The blimps are based there and you can still take a ride on them today. Not exactly the same (newer technology) but similar. Visiting the air base can be a fun day! Loved visiting the Pullman Airship Museum with you, Alice. Also enjoyed the cheesecake in the St.James Chapel. Thanks so much for bringing us along.

Airships were certainly a sight to have seen, and the R34 was one of the largest. I'm hoping to visit another airship museum next year in Germany and see what they have on display. Thanks as always for your comment.

Really good and informative film and loved the story of the first airship crossing of the Atlantic!

This was an interesting aspect of aviation history that I was not aware of Alice. That would have been amazing seeing the R34 flying over that village - the sound, too! Thank you for putting this together. I can tell you have put a heck of lot of work into it. Take care, Paul.

Thanks Paul. Yes this was a big project and with this I also produced a display video for the museum, which will play to visitors. I'd like to do a few more of these if I can find the time.

R34 made first radio contact with North America with the Royal Navy Marconi wireless station near St Johns, Newfoundland ( now Canada but not in 1919) now a communications museum ( Admiralty house museum).

Thank you for that added information. The R34 story is just so interesting. One day, I hope to visit Mineola and see if anything remains from that era.

Hi Alice that village was lovely and I'm always fascinated by airships . Loved the story of Woopsie the cat and the cafe that was a 1401 Chapel. Thanks for the look around and history :) ~ Anna

Great story Alice! If I am ever in the area I would love to check this museum out. It's fascinating to think of the two stowaways on a lighter-than-airship. I wouldn't have wanted to be left behind either.

Next time you go on one of your day trips to the Continent, there's a Zeppelin Museum at Friedrichshafen where you can go for a ride in an airship.

Yes Ron I know. I'm planning a trip there next year. Tgere is also a Dornier museum there. Just come back from a two week tour of Bavaria.
