R380 gearbox preparation

the weather prevents us from working outside so I get the new gearbox prepared to fit to the disco.

I'm in Oregon US....Rains a lot here as well. They are good days to work in the shop. In fact, if it weren't for the rain, I'd probably not get a lot done in the shop ha ha

You may have already put the Box in by now, but I had multiple issues with a manual transmission on an old Muscle car. What I ended up doing was, connecting a rubber hose to the input, then a drill to the hose.. Then I was able to spin it, diagnose it, and SHOW the transmission shop the issue to fix for the 3rd time. Might be worth getting it a spin with a drill and see how she reacts! I wouldn't expect 'shifting' to be the best though as its REALLY pushing the limits of the synchomesh rings with no clutch and Rev matching.

Hi kris, yes the box is in I’m just finishing it all off before the moment of truth! I’ll be honest I’m really hoping it all works first time because I’ve had it with this project! I’m desperate to get out and enjoy the truck now.

@@TheNorthernExplorer I feel the same way about my Disco from time to time.. Take a break away from it and spend time with Family! It can wait, and so can we.. Don't push yourself and make mistakes.. Involve your little girl when it comes to painting the frame or anything.. I'm sure it'll make memories worth more than any truck could. Cheers mate, fingers crossed for ya!

Hello mate, I like your videos, very informative! Did your disco come with that lettering on the bonnet or did you add it? Mine has the faded lettering and I want something more like the logo on Discovery 2's. Cheers

Thanks mate! My disco came with sone very faded decals on the bonnet, I removed with a hair dryer and replaced with some stick on ones from eBay. I think d2’s will fit and they come in all colours, black,silver and chrome 👍
