R40/R42/R44/R46 Older Front/End Route Rollsign Scrolling - Custom-made Route Rollsign Rig

Here is a video featuring a homemade rig for a mylar roll - purchased off of Ebay - showing all the route emblems ("bullets") on an older iteration of front/end route rollsigns found on overhauled MTA NYC Subway R40, R42, R44, and R46 cars.
Older former routes such as the JFK Express, Broadway B & D, and Nassau Street rush hour R, are visible; these do not appear in the current iteration of front route signs found on the aforementioned cars. Interestingly, most of the letters in emblems are in the original font for NYC Subway signs: "Standard" (also known as Akzidenz-Grotesk). However all letters in yellow Broadway emblems are in the "Helvetica" (also known as Neue Haas Grotesk) font, as are the "Special," "Not in service," and "Shuttle" readings.

Nice! I do have one question though. If the r40 has an R, E, S and a Z sign, why doesn't the r40's ever run on those lines? It would've been really awesome and beautiful to see the r40's run on those lines.

It is really up to whoever assigns whatever cars to whatever lines. Having a standardized sign between the R40s, R42s, R44s, and R46s is a smart way to save costs though.

But the old r46/44 rollsign font is thinner that the R42 old rollsign

Also the R46/44 old rollsign has all the letters in standard (even the yellow line)

True, though they were generally interchangeable - some of this version have been seen on the R44/R46

I used an electric screwdriver to turn a bolt attached to tubes that the signs are wrapped around.
