Great video, however it is recommended to use a external transmission cooler along with intank radiator concentric oil cooler. This will allow two things to happen, 1. Atf Fluid will get up to operating temp much quicker in cold weather and 2. In the summer the radiator coolant is much better at keeping the fluid at a safe temp because its always at 180-185F so this will keep the atf at around the same temp. The cooler your using will work but not as good as the factory intank one especially in the summer along with stop and go traffic

Coming in here 6 months later to say that the transmission already has an external cooler. It's in front of the radiator.

Have an 08 LE with the 5.6l V8. I elected to just replace my radiator to ensure smooth shifting during colder weather. Found a very reasonable price online at $60! It's been 2 year with the replacement radiator without any issues👍

I got a 2017 Sentra and I changed my transmission fluid 15 times so far I will probably change it every 2000 mile so it's keep on working

My advise is to buy a new radiator that way you get a new concentric oil cooler also, i heard its nissans oem radiator that has the defective oil cooler inside it

Only problem with bypass is when ur climbing up hill off roading the transmission air cooler doesnt cool the tranny much. Better buy a new rad for ur pathfinder. Go with koyo rad. I use to have that bypass and notice that my tranny always overheating and wait again for 5 mins and then its good again i hated it.

Yo le hice lo mismo a la Traverse 2011 y anda mejor creo que eso del enfriador es un problema con el tiempo por que cuando haces el cambio de aceite de Trasmision siempre queda por lo menos 1/4 de aceite viejo dentro del cooler y contamina el aceite nuevo que le pongas créame y otra cosa eso del cooler lo que hace más daño por que la variación de aceite a su temperatura es diferente cuando llega a una Trasmision caliente y sufre sobrecalentamiento cuando tienes el respiradero tapado

Hey doesn't the transmission fluid coming from the transmission needs to be cooled. I see your doing the bypass and I'm wondering about doing the very same thing. I just bought a $4000 transmission because my old radiator failed. I don't want that again

Hey thanks for commenting. Yes, the transmission fluid needs to be cooled. But it is already being cooled via external trans fluid cooler in front of the condenser ( its a small cooler) not meant for xtra heavy duty hauling but it does the job. The reason for the radiator cooler is two things to heat up the fluid during winter time and cool it down in summer time. So, bypassing the radiator is completely fine and a piece of mind. That is why i did it. If your hauling heavy trailer then you would need to upgrade ur external trans fluid cooler. That is. Anyways, yes i highly recommend this bypass to avoid headache in the long run. Cheerz Yeah

Definitely change it. Completely bypass the radiator. I even added an extra one to be sure. Amazon has complete kits, also added a fan in front of the factory transmission cooler.

There is a high chance in 100F summer temps in traffic your tranny will overheat badly. A oil to water cooler is better than a oil to air cooler.

My experience using the external cooler along with the intank radiator cooler is i noticed right away a pressure drop, the transmission shifted different and felt more sluggish, i ran my hoses as short as possible but the pressure drop still was noticeable

Yes that's the return line. Basically, the whole part of the job is the return side.

This car has a known issue with failing transmission due to coolant and transmission fluid mixing. Do this to prevent transmission failure then add xtra external transmission fluid cooler. If ur concern about transmission staying cool. I hope this clears up everything. Cheerz

The ultimate purpose for the radiator cooler is really to bring the transmission fluid to operating temperature in colder climate. There is an auxilary transmission fluid cooler in front of the radiator already and that's sufficient for what it needs unless you're towing then you can upgrade to bigger aftermarket transmission fluid cooler. Soo, NO its not gonna ruin the transmission at all.
