I have an 03 MCS and I did a one ball mod, but before I put the muffler back on I took it for a ride. I became somewhat addicted to the (what some would call obnoxious) sound. I delayed putting the muffler on for a week or so. But eventually got around to putting the muffler back on.. It's one of those things that make me a little self conscious, especially driving thru the neighborhood or past police. And I simply don't have the money and time to get an exaust that's perfect. Anyway, I found what I think the perfect solution for what I need. I got a muffler cutout on eBay for $60. But I made a mistake by assuming 2.25 meant that it would fit on my existing 2.25 pipe. Someone said somewhere that the manufacturers tend to measure from the inside which would make it bigger. So I borrowed one of those flanges/pipe spreader. Broke one and wrench the other one as far as I could. Still wasn't big enough for the cutout y pipe. Couldn't get it in more than 1/2". Then proceeded to fucked up the pipe before the muffler because I figured I could cut some of that one down to make it fit and was gonna hope the tightness and clamp would keep the 1/2" in. So now I gotta spend more money I really don't have to get this thing on. My question is, what is a cheap alternative to the cutout that would just tone the car down a bit, without losing the fun afressive sound? I heard someone say a cherry bomb muffler maybe. Or a baffle.. Any advice from anyone would be appreciated. Thanks.

Currently, have the Invidia N1 on it and I like it, but I do wish it would pop and bang a tad more. But it gets by. Timothy K Its the cars Timbre, fuel dripping into the exhaust due to the sudden release of throttle. Most cars have it, it’s just muted out by mufflers, cats, and resonators. It’s a beautiful sound in person, my Mini doesn’t crackle and back fire like this one does. But it’s an absolutely lovely sound in person. Normally the cause is due to high end cars having a rich fuel air mixture, and when it leaks into an 800°C exhaust pipe, it explodes there. Not dangerous at all, it’s safer than it sounds. But Minis are made by BMW and considered BMWs performance hatch series. Basically. It’s sounds ALOT better in person, it’s just fuel blowing up in the exhaust :3

No tuning !!! What you are hearing is the " Engine Pops ", which is normal and usually that would muffle by the muffler. Once you take the muffler out, it will sound like a straight engine would sound. Like a lawn mower or go-kart, LOL.

you can make your own completly buy the flange that goes to you manifold/cat then buy some straight pipe in what ever size you want then like 3 90* bends and a nice looking tip or y pop and tips

Superchargers can’t really be heard from the rear anyways. Nonetheless why should you care what people like? It’s their car. Coopers are performance hot hatches, and they are pretty darn quick around a track. They may not have straight speed but they are stunning on a track! Anyways, sometimes when you want the sound, yet you don’t have all that money for a 80k+ car, may as well straight pipe it. Normally the Cooper sounds tame, but by doing this you release the natural sound of the engine and overall it actually will improve performance by allowing a lot more exhaust flow with less restriction. Even then, the supercharger on a mini can barely be heard from the rest with normal exhaust, from the front it’s clear as day. By the way, it’s spelt, Aventador. There is lots of spirit and ferocity within the Mini name.
