In this episode I finally do something about my quiet exhaust. I have local exhaust shop remove both the Resonator and the Cat (unmetered) and the results we better than i could have imaged!? Best 75$ ever

Had a similar setup whenever I first got my r56. I eventually went castles downpipe and removed the back box as well. The only thing that’s muffling the car is a cherry bomb glasspack. Sounds great man!

Awsome vid. I have a r56 mini as well. Currently changing out the turbo feed line and oil filter housing gasket. I would suggest doing alot of preventative maintenance on this car cause everything starts to go at once and it really sucks! (Current 71,000 miles)

I like the exhaust mod. Like you I am not as young and am not overly concerned about the sound as much as performance. Unfortunately I have Cali CARB requirements, so either an expensive CAT back or free flow muffler. I decided on the Magna Flow muffler and leave the current CAT. I dig your videos, thanks for doing them. Currently looking to do the Intercooler for my 2011 S.

Any plans to upgrade the clutch if not already done. I have a 2009 R56 that I financed less than a year ago and I have been regretting it. Within the month it had ignition coil failure (not to bad) and turbo failure (really bad thank god I got the extended warranty). Then the thermostat housing cracked (made of plastic , replaced) and now the clutch is slipping and it has bad valve seals which are not covered under the warranty all at under 83K. I want to get the Clutchmasters single mass flywheel kit ($1300) so I won't have to worry about replacing it any time soon. I loved the car when it was running properly but it's just been one repair after another which is burning a hole in my pocket. I live in Killeen ,Tx maybe one day we will meet and talk about our Minis. Great videos by the way keep up the great work.

That's the beauty of the mind on my R56 the secondary cat is not meter no modification on the O2 sensor necessary

*IF smog emissions tests are a thing in your area... e85 fuel will blow less of the pollution that they are sniffing your exhaust for.... e85 might get a NON-cat vehicle to pass the smoke sniffer test... HOW DID THAT AFFECT YOUR FUEL ECONOMY OR FUEL CONSUMPTION ? ?*

J Martin im glad you asked . I just got my car smog tested on Friday. It passed with flying colors actually .I figured this would be the case since the secondary cat was not metered. I still get about 30mpg with mixed driving as well

My exhaust snapped where you had it removed and my cooper s sounded like a rally car but went like a tank. The loss in acceleration was shocking. Once I got a new ss exhaust on it was flying. So you did not seem to have much speed?

Bimmer Dude its not really loud under throttle right now with just the catless downpipe but my Pops and crackles are a lot louder than before.

oh its there lol i still have to get my sensors mounted on these wheels :/ 80$ just to do that at discount tire ! ( light is covered by my cell phone holder suction cup lol)

@@cirodiazossio875 No, it doesnt. The 2nd catalytic converter doesnt have any sensors. The resonator Obviously wouldnt affect anything, its just a piece of metal with sound absorption material around it.

I think you would only get CEL if you do a catless downpipe. But there are ways around that

@@PneumaticFrog catless downpipe was the first mod i ever did on mine and made a night and day sound difference, very minimal to no popping at all with catted dp, with the new one it pops every shift.

bitang I'm going to be flat honest with you I definitely don't think of the Mini Cooper as a reliable car because it has what I call reliability issues I try to address them head-on in my videos such as the carbon buildup and the timing chain etc. I bought my car with no issues whatsoever and I have been fairly lucky thus far by preemptively taking care of these items before they became issues. My recommendation to you is if you do not have a desire to do some preemptive preparation before you get the urge to start adding power to avoid this car hope that helps and thanks for watching!
