Once upon a time this was the norm as the Kawasaki 62s were exclusive to the 4 with the redbirds.

in 1984, When Kawaski delivered and R62 and went in service. Then, in 1988-89, the R62A came along, then in 2013, the R142A subway fleets were taken from the 6 line and was gonna be converted into R188s. In return, R62A's from the 7 line moved to the 6 line which cuased all the other R142As to move to the 4 line.

R 62 s BACK HOME even if for aminute ... One October 1983 morning I saw my first R 62 1304 coupled to R 17 6611 one of two & Two R 17 s south end @ CCYD from my s/b #4 train headed Atlantic Av .Their arrrivals were a dreams come true .

Man, I hope the MTA gets control of that subway surfing problem as seen @0:44 real soon. The sad thing is the downsides of technology and the Internet in terms of how it affects people. It looks like that twit is trying to set up the camera on his smartphone in order to record what happens. Which leads me to believe that twits will do anything and everything -- no matter how dangerous it is -- to get likes on Instagram or Tik Tok. Even if it means falling under a moving subway train which results in an arm being chopped off. Anyway, IMO, if the MTA starts going after the parents of these twits with stiff fines like in the 5k range on up -- I think it would put a swift end to a lot of these subway surfer's careers.

There was another reason why the 4 had a shortage. This was because the 5 was running to 149 on the weekend so some R142/A had to go to the 5 causing a shortage for the 4.

The 4 line originally used R62s in the 1980s-2000s. Since then, the line has generally been operated only with R142s and R142As. Occasionally, R62s and R62As run on the line, usually on weekends when construction work has impacts on the availability of the R142/A fleet.

Not only that there's gonna be movements around before the brand new R262/as comes for CBTCS to replacing all the R62AS R62S on the 1 3 6 S lines.

Originally from the Jerome Ave 4 line. Then when all the R142/As started to replace all the Redbirds from the 2 5 4 6 7 Flushing lines then the R62AS from the 3 Broadway line were sent to Flushing line and the R62AS from the Pelham 6 line went to the 7 Flushing line to replace the R36WFS and the R33WFS. Back in 2018 the Rest of the R142As from the Pelham 6 line were sent to the 4 Jerome Ave 4 line and the R62AS are back home on the Pelham 6 line until the R262/As comes to replace them all on the 1 3 6 S lines for CBTCS in the future.

I know what you are saying. The R142as fits on the Pelham 6 line with the R62as on the Pelham line. We don't have no Redbirds anymore. You know what's also missing is the old 8 3rd Avenue Elevated line and the ninth Ave Elevated line.

@@ItsDuckToYou That's what I said. The R62AS and the R142as fits on the Pelham 6 line and the R142s R62S fits on the Jerome Ave 4 line. I have a real spriital feeling that changes are coming before the brand new R262/as comes I'm telling you. You know that the R62AS could run on any lines except for the 7 Flushing line. Another thing to the 4 5 6 2 lines does not have no CBTCs hooked up yet.
