Weekend construction and maintenance work required the operation of the 4 line in two sections. The south section, operating between 125th St and New Lots Avenue, required the use of some R62A consists from the 6 line.

Back in 2020, I rode one of these classics on the 4 and it was the first time I rode a non-NTT on the 4 line since the R62's left the 4 in 2010.

For the first time in March on a Sunday I rode one it was unexpected I wanted to ride a R142A but i found this baby at Kingston Avenue and I was hoping to ride another one from Borough Hall but I caught a R142. It was aight but I enjoyed riding it!

UnitedStatesOfEmbarrassment10018 Having the 3 and 4 share the same fleet, and giving the 4 line fleet to the 6 is NOT NECESSARY. The 6 is fine being 100% R62As and the 3 and 4 have almost NOTHING IN COMMON.

Antony Diaz yup. And then, the (3)'s R62As went to the 42nd Street Shuttle. That time, those single unit cars on the shuttle also had blue stickers too. It's too bad the MTA removed it, but at least, with and without the blue stickers, you can at least tell they belong to the 42nd Street Shuttle line

Tsutarja495 No thank you. The 6 is fine being 100% R62As. Also, having both NTT and OTTs at an IRT yard that is not 207th Street Overhaul would cause maintenance problems due to a needlessly large parts inventory. This would cause the shop workers to have a hard time doing their jobs due to having a huge parts inventory to sort through, and would cause the cars to be delayed going back into service. Result: reliability issues.

The 4 can actually get back the R62As but it will have to come from either the Westchester Yard on the 6 or the 242St Yard on the 1 and switch over to the 3 line and then change the rollsigns

No they can't. Besides the 1 ,3 and 6 need their required number of cars. Besides, the 4 already has their own equipment. Expect more IRT car movements when the R262's arrive, Such as the 2, 4, 5, 6 and 42nd street shuttle to receive the R262's to make the R142/A's to the 1 and 3 (Which would be foamworthy for those foamers) BUT HOWEVER, 1841-1900 can move from the 1 to the 4 for extra use while the 6 pushes out 2221-2225, 2346-2350, 2456-2470 to the 1 since the 6 has enough cars now with them receiving some 1900's singles from the 42nd street shuttle.

Flutershy Fluters Why? This would cause maintenance problems on the IRT and delays repairs due to having a complex parts inventory. This would result in cars taking too long to be repaired and go back into service, and cause reliability issues. Leave the 6 100% R62As and leave the 4 50% R142 and 50% R142A.
