I've flown the r44, cabri G2, and Schweizer 300cbi, but never this one. I bet that power bump is nice 👌

Hi there Thanks for your comment- sounds like you have a good range of experience on light single engine piston helis- I would really recommend that you try a turbine - be it a 500, 206 66 or even a As350/ ec120. That said - the r66 flies very similarly to the 44, yes there is plenty of power, but it’s not quite as instantaneous as you get in a R44. That said, great aircraft, especially when coupled with some of the new avionics/ autopilots and the extended range tanks

@@ABHelicopters Yes, I would like to do a turbine transition soon to maybe a 206. A MD500 would be a dream though. Those things have power for days and so maneuverable. I haven't seen many places that own R66's actually. Its either R22/44's, or they jump straight to bell 206's/407's like the ones at our local forestry commission. I love the sound of a turbine at startup though.

Nice video - I have seen your videos landing at that place before - is it harder to do in this helicopter than the R44?
@ABHelicopters6 жыл бұрын
The R66 has more power than the R44 and can actually be lighter than it- however as it is a turbine engine - there is a longer reaction time to power requirements - like driving an older diesel car- so you have to be more smooth with power application on the approach and landing

Hi Guys good to see some helicopter content from the UK being published so thanks for this. I have always admired the R66, what are the on-going costs of ownership for one of these? How much of that is unscheduled or ad-hoc maintenance? Is lease back a good route to ownership?

Landing pretty close to those solar panels Risking a lot of potential damage.

Every off airfield landing reviewed against a risk assessment - it’s suggested to do a low reconnaissance of the site before landing - and reviewing against 5s’s - size , shape, surroundings , slope, and surface- if the landing area is suitable - continue - but be ready to abort at any stage if the pilot is unhappy with any aspects as they get close
