Hi there, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I'm sure you'll love the YSS Shock. Would love to hear how it goes and especially how you find the cartridges once you've had a chance to really test them and dial them in. As for commission, if only that was realit. 😁. Have fun with those new components!! And HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

How is yss for cumfort? Looking at it for a touring bike
@outtheresomewhere

The shock installed in this video is intended for the R9T, and more specifically for a sporty/race setup. Therefore this model is not comparable to or suitable for a touring bike. But YSS do make a range of Touring and Adventure Bike specific shocks, but I have no experience with YSS on any of my other two bikes to share. Sorry that I am unable to help you with your question. All the best🙂

Love your vids fella! Very helpful and informative. I ended up going for the top model YSS shock that you’ve got based on value for money (basically get all the functionality but at a price you wouldn’t get a hydraulic pre-load adjuster on the Wilbers or Ohlins etc.) and I felt the aesthetics were better suited to the NineT. It stands out enough to count due to the fine finish of the product but doesn’t come with weird colours that just look out of place on a heritage styled bike. One question that I do have though is where did you locate your pre-load adjuster knob? Like you, I’ve had to remove my rear sub-frame (due to my HP-Corse exhaust not fitting with it in place) and am wondering where to put the adjuster knob now? I’ve been right through all your vids and the shots with the YSS shock installed are either from the left side or the adjuster knob has been detached for some reason. Any advice on how you mounted yours would be appreciated. Keep up the top work on the vids too! They are appreciated!

Depending on whether or not you are running an EVAP Canister or not, the mounting bracket can be mounted to the left side diagonal frame tube. But you will need to fabricate a new aluminium mount block as the hole diameter of the one supplied is too small for the main frame tube. If you have a drill press and a coldcut saw (or hacksaw) you could fabricate this yourself from a small aluminium block for just a few dollars. There are other options, but you'd need to run a couple of beads of welding to fabricate a new mount from some flatbar and then bolt under the seat immediately behind the shock, but with sufficient clearance of the top of the tire at full compression. I hope that makes sense. Thanks for watching. All the best😃

@ Thanks for responding so quickly! Luckily no EVAP as it’s a 2016. I thought that would probably be the case. For the time being, till I can get a bracket made up, I might be able to temporarily mount it onto the SW-Motech pannier bracket as it seems about the same width as the missing rear sub-frame. Will look a bit naff but at least I’ll be able to get out on it till I can make it pretty. Thanks heaps for the advice. You are a gentleman and a scholar!

Hi Semyon :-) I'm so glad you are enjoying the videos. As for Ohlins , I think they are a great shock, the only issue I see with one Ohlins model made for the R9T (the STX Blackline) is the fitment issue for 2017 Euro 4 models onwards, which Ohlins have confirmed on their website. imho Ohlins is more "track focused" than "street focused" for the R9T, where-as the YSS is in the middle "Track/Street" imho. As for being a former Pro Racer, I can only say as an amateur racer, that I am envious!!😄 What many wonderful memories & successes you must have of those days, and great friends you would have made ...and maybe some enemies for the podium..lol😆. Thanks for sharing your thoughts & experience for our other members to enjoy.

Thanks for sharing @mengaw-yong2490, yeah for sure the OEM Sachs shock isnt the best. It's unfortunate that you couldn't find a YSS shock supplier. But the Wilbers shocks are also a great choice👍. 😃

where to get these suspension components in EU ?
@outtheresomewhere
@outtheresomewhere 11 ай бұрын
Hi @Andrewsoldan6050, if you don't have a local suspension specialist who can source YSS product, I suggest doing a quick search online and you'll find suppliers. Such as : www.partseurope.eu/en/brands/yss www.xlmoto.co.uk/brand/yss-suspension brooksbarn.co.uk/brands/yss/ and others... They should be able to source the exact model with the correct spring rate for your bike. If you install it yourself, depending on the model, you may need to make a mounting bracket for the Preload adjuster. I hope that info helps you and enjoy your R9T 👊✊👍

Hi sir just a question, the H1RL do you think it is good for high speed street riding and occasional track ride? My oem I think is broken now and from what I’ve observed was it was way down below every time I sit on the bike, not like before it does not go down to the max. Riding a BMW R nine T (k21)

Hey there @vanfelix5093, my apologies for my tardy reply. Although in the video I recommend the H1WRL, the H1RL for road and an occasional Track Day is an absolutely great choice, leaving you with cash in the pocket for something else. So in my opinion yes the H1RL is a great option if you are not doing track days multiple times a month. For sure it's an improvement on the Sachs OEM factory shock even though it still doesnt have Compression adjustability, which is especially useful and noticeable changing between different tracks/courses. I hope I have answered your question. All the best with your research into the range of shocks out there. Thanks for watching and take care 👊✊️👍😀

Hey there @Cheng Wu😃, if you're considering the Ohlins STX Blackline, they might work for some, but be aware that it has issues in regards to clearance on 2017 Euro 4 models onwards, which means it doesn't fit due to the charcoal filtering canister and/or if you run the High Acrapovic Exhaust/Silencer. You could consider it if you dont have either, but the YSS doesnt have these issues due to it's better design for the R9T. Also the H1WRL is actually better for Track Days while also being fantastic On Street. The Ohlins are good, but the YSS imo are GREAT!😄 👍
