@@ARGCDG If I only had one I would go with a wood kit. No rights or wrong here, just works best for what I do (overall). Would for example use a wood kit for jazzier stuff.

@@wingelschweinchen7065 I don't use a Tune Bot - only my ears :) The toms are tuned with a high tension on the bottom heads and a medium tension on the batter heads.

These things went way up in price over the years, like everything else, I guess. Crazy. I picked up the 5pc shell pack for $1499 6 years ago. Threw in the added 14” for an extra $299. Now look at em. Killer kit though. Especially for live use.

To get that price on a quality shell pack like that is REALLY good. As you mentioned, everything has got up in price. Even with the current price, I think they’re pretty cheap for what you actually get. Do you mean the 14” floor tom?

@@RICHARDSANDSTROM never seen them have an 18 inch. Don’t think they make it in that size. The one that comes with it is a 16x18 (16 wide and 18 deep. I have all! But yes I have the 8 inch. I have the 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, then the snare.

Why did u kept the plastic stuff that comes to protect the edges on the floor tom?

I bought this kit a few weeks ago and I cannot get my floor tom to sound as low and thunderous as yours. And I’ve tried multiple heads….EC2, Ambassador, Pinstripe, and now have an Aquarian classic clear on it. I’m basically just finger tightening. But I do the Rick Beato way of finger tightening by pushing down on the hoop while finger tightening each lug. And by the time you get it as tight as you can get it with finger tightening, it’s pretty much where it needs to be. I may go an 1/8th of a turn more with a drum key on each lug. Could you share with us your method of tuning your drums? They sound great, and it looks like you’re using the DW/Remo heads that came with the kit, which I believe are basically Ambassadors. But I didn’t really care for them.

Glad you like it! Maybe I’ll make a tuning video in the future. But until then: I always tune the bottom head tighter than the batter head. If you’re not getting the tone you like when finger tight - try to tune it up more. That can be the reason for not getting a low, thunderous tone.

Do you find having the toms toms to the left easier to reach ? What are the benefits

@@ezza1236 They are much easier to reach for the left hand, compared to placing the toms the classic way. This way is more ergonomic when you want to play with both hands on the toms. After all, the middle of the drum set is NOT the bass drum, but right in between the hihat and bass drum.

@@ezza1236 That’s def. a taste thing. I suggest you check out what your favorite drumers use and mimic the ones you love the sound of. Also, the dampening has huge effect on the sound, so experiment with that if you want a tighter sounding kick.

I’m planning on buying a 5 or 6 piece 10,12,14,16,22 With the 14 Snare then adding a 8inch and a 18 inch floor with a second 22 bass drum to make it a 9 piece set
