How beautifully taught! Glad I found this gem of a lesson. "The bridges between two notes have to be mastered. Bhimpalasi is not the skeleton of the notes that make it". It took me ages to realize that this is why Hindustani music cannot be written and has to be learnt from a guru by continuously listening.

Best lectures but most mismanaged channel. why they dont create playlists for seperate subjects, so that student will be able to search the channel easily. What is the point of putting thousands of videos at random. so you have to search hundreds of videos related with say physics, history, vedas, political science etc. and still will not find anything related with Indian classical vocal music.

I think when you subscribe to a channel, and turn the notifications on, you are intimated. The topics that interest you could always be referred to We are fortunate that such valuable information is being shared with like minded people at no cost. One must be thankful to Academics that has always shared a wealth of knowledge , with a respectable outlook , that Education is for all. All praise to the Professionalism shown .

Gayatri Murty, will you please go to the channel and try to search for this video. Then please tell me how much time you spent. After locating this particular video, please try to locate a lecture on raag Tilak kamod! You will know what I am trying to tell. Ofcourse we are greatful for such a treasure of knowledge. But to enter a hugely massive library without any indexing help and arranged in archaic manner and then to search a book is maddening. If this happens then people stop coming to the library. And then the scholerly work is not at all beneficial to anybody. That is a great loss. Why these beaurocrats could not create a play list named Indian classical music Vocal. They are lazy. It is frustrating to the works of scholars gone to dust. We could see this lecture because You tube has its own kindness. But what if I want to see other lectures of Pandit Koparkar? And what if my hopes are elevated and I want to search for the other lectures. Believe me, no use. I have tried. By the way I have already subscribed the channel. But then I don't get notified of the topic of my interest, but every video uploaded. I am a student of vocal music.why I would bother if some body uploaded a lecture on ancient pagan rituals in Rome. Rather I will go to the channel, search for the play list of particular topic I am interested. But such incompetency is expected from the administration of any Indian organisation. We should be proud of that.
रागा is South Indian pronounciation. When it comes to Hindustani then it must be राग.

Admirable series about the nerves of ragas. Surprised how some may criticize the anchors. They rightly try to pull out more information, commendable anchoring also. Attention be paid on raga by listener. Beneficial for hindi as well non hindi belt.

A humble question: Should we use vibrato in Indian classical music?
@soumyadeepdutta37265 жыл бұрын
Yes... in Hindustani classical we have andolan... which is a substitute for vibrato. In certain raags, andolan of some specific notes are the characteristics of that raag. As in raag darbari, gandhar and dhaivat are oscillating ( andolit), which discriminates it from adana..which has similar sets of swaras to darbari, but gandhar and dhaivat are not oscillating.( Though there are major differences apart from this)
@vijayrk73292 жыл бұрын
It's used in all classical music..in Karnataka Sangeetha it's called kampita
@vedant_kulkarni2 жыл бұрын
No...absolutely not! The pressure which you apply to your higher notes should be from your nabhi...which should be natural. And, anyway there isn't any concept of vibrato in Indian Classical Music.

What is RAGA ( RAg) what is SWARA ( SWAR ). These are devnagri words so please don't make these words English to facicilate west.
@-Snake_Eyes-2 жыл бұрын
I think it's more like from Brahmi. Swarah ramah raagah ( : ) etc, from where these english words tend to use raga swara ramayana etc.
