Welcome all🙏This is a raga Baba played often and also did his riyaz at home,a raga that haunts me for its mood of surrender and dedication.After all who would not hum this raga,being a Bengali, in Autumn, in one of the most outstanding numbers sung in the Mahalaya invocation to Ma Durga🙏😊🙏

Not many play desi todi these days. Many thanks for offering such a brilliant performance. I was a little kid when I saw you first at Girija babu's place where I used to accompany my mother every week. I hold these memories precious. I would generally refrain from listening to a Todi in Hindustani music because of a sense of pathos when commonly played. But this combination of Desh and Todi has a lilting character but grounded by reality. What a beauty and so well played! Enjoyed it totally especially the frequent descent into the kharaj strings. Indeed, the full range of the sitar was judiciously used in bringing this beautiful raga to life! I played the piece thru an amp and speakers in a central courtyard and the whole house reverberated with beautiful melody. And, in the end it was like temple bells rung loud in the house, casting a hypnotic spell! A great experience which I will relive time and time again. Thank u Vidushi Mitaji! It was an auspicious start to the day !!!
