He said there must be 'Silsila' in music. Meaning there must be a link or connection in music making. 99% of the music making these days is missing it is what he said.

tabla is essentially an instrument for accompaniment. Doing "dhang" as most classical players are keen to let their accompanyists do these days, takes listeners away from the "dhyan" that the main performer intends to bring to the the listeners.
