Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan is an Indian classical sitar player from Imdadkhani Gharana. He belongs to the seventh generation of Etawah Gharana. Shahid Parvez has performed in all major music festivals in India or abroad. Shahid Parvez also got vocal and Surbahar(sometimes called bass sitar) training from his uncle Ustad Hafeez Khan. He also received training in tabla for many years from Ustad Munnu Khan of the Delhi Gharana.
Raag Piloo is a light raag, raag of "shaant ras" and hence apt for Thumri and Bhajans and is full of devotion and piety. Since the structure of the raga is left to the artist's style and interpretation, it is sometimes referred to as Mishra Pilu ("mixed version of Pilu") which incorporates not only the main notes but grace notes. The mood of this raag is Bhakti and Ebullience of folk love. Raag Pilu is generally played between 12pm and 3pm i.e. "Tritiya Prahar" (Third part) of the day.

Ustadji likes to mix profusely these days. After a small sad Piloo, he shows what not can be thrown into the boiling cauldron, say Shivranjani, say Pancham-se-Gara, a dash of Tilak Kamod and finally comes back to a playful Piloo. Then Zilha to conclude. I appreciate but would like to go back to the solid, solemn , hour long Piloo by Pt Nikhil Banerjee in 1975.

One of the most hair raising aalaps of my dear guru ustad Shahid ji. I had been with him for several years 80 s to early 2000 and the only thing I can say is he has an imagination par excellence and a bhav which Ive not heard on sitar from other artists in abundance. He is a complete artist extraordinaire Who keeps tradition alive and people like me yearning for more. Long live ustadji and my heart felt pranams. He is a big source of inspiration for me🙏🌺🌸

If you do not know what i am talking about, better not stick your concerns with it. I am not into western music or any compositions of such kinds. I do have huge respects for those music.
