i think trying new and different staff is already a big win, but in one way or the other you have to enjoy it, the suffering or the riding or doing anything in order to complete it and if it ain’t fun it just means u can try with smth else, solid effort and it was a pleasure to see how positive you tried to stay up until the end

Great experience any way! I've tried to reach Mont Blanc peak once with a team. And we didn't because of weather and there was no chances so we quit. But I will remember that travel for all my life. I believe it was not about the peak. It's about place and people around, spirit and atmosphere of mountains - to feel and to see with ,y own eyes.

Enjoyed the video. I'm planning to do the ride in 2025. I come from the world of Ultra running, understand the dark places you go when your body suffers. I've now caught the long distance bike packing bug. Im curious if you were to do it again what would you do differently. I'm retired and in my late 60's so have lots of time to train and fortunately from years of MTB racing in my 30' I'm super fit . I'm also looking for a partner, want to do it again?
@erwinsikkens_com Жыл бұрын
I probably will some day, but not this one. Too extreme. Little bit too much hiking for my taste. I’d probably take on a more ridable and less extreme challenge also food-wise than AMR. Good luck on your adventure though 🙌

You soon realise that when you do ultra racing (such as the AMR , SRMR or TCR ) there is a lot more type 2 fun than type 1 and sometimes a bit of type 3 fun.

I think gravel bike was wrong choice. Tyres, no suspension, gears; bar etc. Every day 12 to 15 hours on the bike is suffering for every one. But not all the time. More about the mind than about the fitness. Once you start to think about stopping it's a selffulfilling prophecy. U have to divide every ride in o lot of targets/goals to reach to trick and reward yourself.

The state you become in (or not 😂)….
