Amazing, what a gift! Now I understand why it has taken me decades of figuratively wandering in the desert injunction with the events of Oct 7, to come back to my Judaism. I grew up in an era when there were traditional religious and cultural roles for men and women in Judaism. I rebelled against these practices where I was taught women were less than. Where the sons were the golden child. Where women sat upstairs in Shul etc. I did not know that there was so much knowledge and wisdom available in Judaism. The ultimate self help books. 🙏🏼✡️🎗️🇮🇱🎗️🇮🇱🎗️🇮🇱🎗️🎗️🙏🏼✡️

I love the thoughtful reflections of Sir Sacks. This thought is very modest and should dominate each person as why they are born to their various cultures. For me I need to rediscover myself as per why are mine a Nigerian, and Ibo for that matter. Until we are able to find meaning as per our individuality and circumstances of life can the knowledge of why are we what we are will start to unfold. I pray that this knowledge become more clearer to me with passage of time. Seek for your conviction in every thing you do.

What lots of people (even pastors) don't (yet) understand. God created us according to His own image and likeness. Godly. Mankind/the first Adam fell. The image of God in man got lost. That's why there is all this predicament on earth (selfishness, greed, lust, wars, sicknesses, death, etc). We are all born into that mess. For the fall of man a perfect atoning sacrifice had to be made.... that is what God did in Christ. With His own once and for all perefect sacrifice, He paid the debt for the fall of man for us, so we can be indwelled by His Spirit again and finally receive the divine life of the ages back, the first Adam let got of in the fall of man. An amazing act of grace and love by our creator. That is what you see happening in Christ's first disciples. They too healed all and walked in unselfish love. And yes.... that is still avaible today. The holy blood is in place, the Holy Spirit is here to give us understanding, power and transform us back to origin. Not to be debated about, but to be embraced and be-come. So: The Kingdom of God already came. Through Christ, in Spiritform, in those that understand. Hence the divine healing miracles we experience. God manifested in Christ to give us back the divine life mankind lost in the fall of Adam. Christ, the exact image of the invisible God. The image we were created after in Gen 1. The image we lost in the fall of man. The image that can be freely restored by Christ's blood and Holy Spirit working IN us. What a plan. What a solution. What a love. What a God. Jesus is amazing. It is the ultimate conclusion of the word and plan of God. God came full circle. He Himself stooped down from glory to restore us back to original created value: Christlikeness. Walking in divine healing power and unselfish love. Jesus, born of the Spirit of God, filled with the spirit of God. The "Son" of God, the incarnated word, God in the flesh. For three years He healed all, raised the dead, casted out demons, controlled nature, spoke pure divine truth. He said: "Follow Me. If you see Me, you see the Father. The Father and I are one. The glory I have IN My Father, I give to you. It pleases the Father to give you His Kingdom/Holy Spirit/divine nature. I will send Holy Spirit, the same as Me, He will be IN you, guide you into truth and give you explosive power. The same miracles i do, you will do too, because you will understand that the Father is IN Me and I am IN you. Freely I give you My Kingdom/Holy Spirit/divine nature, heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out demons, freely I give, freely share" Etc, etc, etc. I have experienced thousands of beautifull healing miracles through the power of Holy Spirit IN me already. Broken bones, cancers, covid, all kinds of infirmities healed in seconds. Demons manifesting and casted out by a simple "get out, in Jesus name". Jesus. De name above all names. In Him all power and wisdom is sourced and.... He calls us one with Him. God in man and man in God again. C'mon Jesus!! So.... again: God stooped down IN Christ to restore us back to Gen 1:27 were He said: "Let us make man according to our image and likeness and let them have authority.....": walk as Christ. Christ, the exact image of the invisible God. The image we were created after and being restored to by His atoning blood for the fall of man and indwelling Holy Spirit. You are free to receive this original divine life of the ages by Holy Spirit of Christ/God. Ask Him to guide you into truth. Read the Gospel of John and fall in love with your creator. You are not made for the fall of man and its effects, but for the image/glory of God and to walk like Christ. Holy Spirit is the guide and transforming power that will get you there. Amazing grace. A big leap in faith can be made when we start realizing we are already IN Christ, IN the last Adam. Free from the fall! Loved! Growing into awareness of our new (yet old) godly identity. Changing by Holy Spirit. The most fullfilled life ever. Paul healed all on Malta. He understood and wrote: "As in the first Adam ALL died (lost the divine nature), so also ALL were made alive IN Christ to walk in Zoë (= divine life) again". "IN Christ (the last Adam) we are co-cruisified (dead to the fall and its effects), co-raised (justified/made righteousness, holy, blameless, above reproach), co-seated (one with Him)" "The fullness of deity dwells in Christ and YOU HAVE BEEN MADE COMPLETE IN HIM, who is the head of every principality and power". So.... thank you Jesus! Thank you for redeeming me from the fall of man. Thank you for your Holy Spirit that makes this new (yet old) divine life come alive in me. You are amazing! In the shadow of Peter the sick healed... He understood too and wrote: "By Gods power (Holy Spirit) and knowing Christ, we have become partakers of the divine nature and have escaped the fall of man". The divine life of the ages has been returned to us by Jesus once and for all perfect atoning sacrifice for the debt of the fall of man and His indwelling Holy Spirit in us. Jesus/God is amazing!!! Ask Him to give you revelation and change you to the way it was before the fall of man: Christlikeness. He will do so. For it is written: "the Spirit brings forth after His own kind". "I have come to give you Zoë (divine life) in abundance...."

Thank you, Rabbi Lord Sacks, for the hour of teaching about the history of the Jews as People of the Word. I was taken by your observation that languages written right-left have no vowels, and the right brain is thereby tasked with creating context, and therefore meaning, whereby left-right languages always contain vowels, and the whole thing is literally spelled out for you right on the page. You further profess that right-brain assignment lends itself more to philosophy, and perhaps to thoughts of "why things are", where left-brain assignment tends to lend itself more to "how things are". I an not quite sure that I fully agree with this conclusion, but I will hold it in abeyance. I want to challenge you on that point, and I hope that you don't respond "That's a very good point and I will take three months to write a book about it"! I have lived in Iran and during my life have spoken Farsi with some degree of fluency. I also read Farsi, whose script was forced upon the Persians by the invading Arabs. Even today, the language contains (one source* gives 70%) very, very, many Arabic nouns, and almost as many verbs--and not only in (Islamic) religious speech. Arabic (and Persian) is written, like Hebrew, right to left. And indeed, they share quite a number of cognates, similar to Arabic->Persian. So I've finally gotten to set up my question. During the Golden Age of Islam when, shortly after Mohammed's death, Islam "flooded the zone" (to use a now infamous currency) between Morocco to Burma/Myanmar, from the gates of Vienna to Zanzibar to the Sahel to today's Nigeria, Islam developed some of the finest Mathmeticians, Astronomers, Physicians, Geographers, and yes, even Poets. The majority of these activities, as you point out must be right-brain driven. Yet their written alphabet contains no vowels (but some hints, when necessary, and those usually in holy, not secular texts), and is a right-left language. Sincerely, and thank you for a truly enlightening talk. And for the great joke at approximately 40:00.

Humans are. individually, usually exactly right, but exactly backwards. Death for example. Reflecting again on Jonathan Sacks death, I hear repeatedly: "what a loss." If we--outside of his intimate circle and family---rely only on one life's end as diminishing our own, then yes, this is a continental loss, in that narrow sense of a bell's toll. Of what a great man has done, perhaps chiding us for what we have not done. Yes, a loss, but not yet permanent. Again, his great example is of gain, to spur us on. If we were born old, and died as infants, then yes. What a loss. If after a lifetime of saving and planning, a person withdraws their savings, to build a memorial park, or foundation, or blesses his or her children: we don't say "what loss" is this gift. We obscure, in this frequently backwards living language of loss, the fact of what GAIN was a life lived so well.

KZbin suggested this lecture to me -- presumably because I liked Rabbi Sacks' talk on You Want It Darker by Zen Rabbi Leonard Cohen -- and I found it fascinating. Accepting that religion puts things together to find meaning in them, then the Buddha's teaching is certainly a religion, though that is a proposition I doubted till very recently. The Buddha's teaching of emptiness means that nothing exists as a thing unto itself (not even God!). God and Dharma, evidently, are not identical. But in light of emptiness, neither are they different. In a sense, therefore, meaning cannot be found by putting God and Dharma together, since they are not separate in the first place.

Although I think all the world of Rabbi Saks, I think he has the vowel thing wrong. There is a marvelous book by Joel M. Hoffman titled "In the Beginning, A Short History of the Hebrew Language". In this book Dr. Hoffman makes the case that the Hebrew language was the first language to have vowels and that these vowels were yud, hey and vav. Yud presumably would be pronounced 'yeh' and 'eee'; hey pronounce 'ayh' and 'ah', and vav pronounced 'oooh' and 'awh'. But the real interesting part of the theme of this book is that G-d's name yud heh vav heh, is composed of purely vowel sounds. But I would go even one step further and say that the three angels that came to visit Abraham and Sarah were Yud, Heh and Vav. The point here is that for the first time phonetic texts became fully understandable because they now had vowels- which were provided by the letters of G-d's most holy name. In the past, in Babylon where Abraham had come from, all phonetic texts were only consonants- so cat, coat and cot were all spelled CT. The great revolution was that G-d had given his most holy name so there could be holy texts, a Torah. The big question here for me is, what would Abraham have written about, surely he must have had his holy texts. one side note, if you quickly say the vowels in English, a e i o u together very fast, you likely come fairly close to verbalizing this most holy name of G-d. I was told one that it sounds something like the state of Iowa, which incidentally, is a name of American Indian origin.

Words are important and beneficial for promotion of something or its destruction. Judaism focuses on people love but Christianity focuses on God love. God loves and is also just and Jesus addresses both and makes them understandable and also shows that God loved enough to put justice on His own Son.

46:07 "verify what other people do." if one is looking for truth and what is righteous in the eyes of god, one then needs to have the word of god confirm that what others are doing are what he approves. yes, if one is doing what god approves, it can give understanding of what is written. this is the case when the example has the word of god as foundation for his way of life.

Why is this knight different from all other knights?
@askyeshka7267 жыл бұрын
It is a play on words KNIGHT- NIGHT and the Queen is not Jewish but made that statement. The best-known quote from the Pesach Haggadah is, "why is this night different from all other nights?" This line is usually recited by the youngest person at the table (or at least, the youngest person capable of reciting it). It is meant to express the child's confusion at the difference between a typical every-day or holiday meal and the unusual features of the seder.

I suppose the only way of discovering G-d is through meaning rather than analysis. The more meaningful something becomes the closer we get to the truth until we lose it and try re approach it once more. I believe that’s the reason fundamentalist loose the truth in pursuit of the truth. The Greek alphabet allows for that which is true to be analysed but we cannot dissect G-d and find truth. It’s a back and forth play between finding meaning and analysis that brings us closer to the truth or is it so? Truth rests in the very simple concept of Love, kindness, faith and hope.

24:24 science takes things apart to see how they work. true. but my take on religion is that it puts things together to answer why: they are all gifts from god and show his majesty, his wisdom, his love for us and his plan to bring us home for that eternal sabbath with him. everything created points to god's provision to sustain man's purposeful existence. the purpose of his existence is to glorify god and dwell with him in eternity as his children.

However his educational speach was owershadow with one of the opening statement completely: "Serbs have great deal of geography but not great deal of history, while Jews have great deal of history but not great deal of geography" It is very sad that in order to make a point one needs to compare one nation with the other. He gave no explanation why would this be the case!!! Moreover you don't push someone down in order to propel your people up. Over the time this has happened too many times and was never good.

SAMUEL'S NUMEROLOGY FOR JACOB In Memoriam Rabbi Sacks Dear Rabbi Jacob has Numerical Value VN = 182 therefore, as it is greater than 150, as established by this numerology it has NS = 1 + 8 + 2 = 11 Rashi mentions it as "Golden lamp" that in Hebrew has VN = 704 then NS = 11. I observe, although it is an observation that I did not find in the renowned masters, that its name has a lot to do with the phrase "SAIA DO CAMINHO", in Hebrew "GUESH HALA" VN = 344 logo NS = 11 because this phrase has the meaning of "AWAY FOR US ". So Jacob was sent away from his family and from Essav twice, away from his brother-in-law Laban and his son Joseph gave him, in Egypt, a remote place called: - Goshen VN = 353 NS = 11 Jacob was born in the year 2108 of the Hebrew calendar soon NS = 2 + 1 + 0 + 8 = 11 The city that identifies itself with its name is, without a doubt: - BETHEL VN = 443 logo NS = 11 According to Rashi, Potiphar's wife was a prophetess and called Jacob: -Ever VN = 272 logo NS = 11 Also, according to Rashi Jacó, he was separated from his son Iossef for 22 years. Soon they joined in the twenty-third (23) Now, Iossef has VN = 156 then NS = 12 and, if we add the NS of Jacob with the NS of Iossef we find: 11 + 12 = 23. Rashi finds a way to prove that Jacob was indeed the firstborn; in Hebrew: - Bechorah VN = 227 logo NS = 11 And, the name of the place of a great peace event between the Nations during his funeral was called: - Goren-Há'atad VN = 272 logo NS = 11 which shows that whoever put that name in place did it by mystical inspiration in honor of Jacob Jacob stated before his death: - "I WILL MEET MY PEOPLE" in Hebrew: - Neessaf VN = 191 logo NS = 11 This shows that this phrase is prophetic and refers to messianic times SHALOM TO ALL

Corona is a crown or garland bestowed among the Romans as a reward for distinguished services, whereas crown is a royal, imperial or princely headdress. Revelation 6:2 And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer. The white horse was given the Corona is the picture! Another point was made by Dana Ashlie, that the bowmen wasn't given arrows.. She felt that meant that only in appearance was a threat perceived! But the Corona is defiantly there, and here! And we are in that day.

If some people are saying about themselves a jews then why they demolish and strike civilian buildings, they are always saying that they have done something but in reality they didn't do anything, those who don't listen to harut and marut instructions of not disbelieving in the worshipping of the one God while they continue in there black magic , but the one God will protect his people

May I share an Old Testament Verse with you from Daniel 7:14 "And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a Kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should SERVE Him; his dominion is an Everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom shall not pass away, and His Kingdom that which shall not be destroyed." God the Father loves you so much that He sent Holy Sinless Jesus (His Holy Son) to earth to be born of a virgin. Then, to grow up and die on a cross for our sins. He was in the tomb for 3 days, then Father God raised Holy and Sinless Jesus Christ (Y'shua) to Life! He appeared to people and went back to Heaven. We must receive Sinless Jesus sincerely to be God's child(John 1:12).After we get saved by grace through faith in Christ, if we truly love the Lord Jesus Christ, then we will obey Jesus(John 14:15). Mark 1:15 "And saying, the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: Repent ye, and believe the gospel." Jesus said in John 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. "There's a real hell. It says in Revelation 21:8 "But for the cowardly, & unbelieving, & abominable, and murderers, & immoral persons sorcerers & idolaters & all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire & brimstone..." Please sincerely receive Holy Jesus & put your true faith and trust in Him today and please repent. Will you have a Real encounter with Holy Lord Jesus (Y'shua is His Hebrew Name) and stay in a Genuine relationship with Him daily please?

Why is "greater egalitarianism" an ideal? I don't want to be an equal with men. This is all so passe. Why can't a woman exist without egalitarianism? The assumption of equality for all is necessary for the speaker, but not for me.

Why don’t you want to accept God’s invitation to come join in unity with him and find eternal life? Is it because of all your addictions to material values? “You can not serve God and mammon”

Isaiah 52:15 so shall he startle many nations kings shall shut their mouths because of him; for that which has not been told them they shall see, and that which they have not heard they shall understand. We couldn't see the extent of "IT IS FINISHED" the earth quaked the rock split at the foot of the Cross, Yeshuas's blood was released by the Roman soldier who pierced his side. I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourn for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. ENMITY exists now the solution is the Fathers witness! 1 John 5:8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. 10 He that believe on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believe not God hath made him a liar; because he believe not the record that God gave of his Son. kzbin.info/www/bejne/np_bnqJ8ZbqNnsU Rabbi Chaim Richman kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3KppaKoos6IlZI 3 minutes kzbin.info/www/bejne/eaTNpqaEa7uJodE 56 minutes For it is by His grace we are rescued, through faith; and this is not of yourselves, but it is the gift of Elohim. And you were, at that time, without the Mashiyach; and were aliens from the Devarim of Israel; and strangers to the covenant of the promise; and were without hope and without Elohim in the world. 13. Hay mate Jesus is coming soon, it wont matter with some of your kabbalah teachings lol. Only through Jesus can we hope for salvation, listen to you putting your self before God, the jews gave us a memory, I think not, I beleive memory came from God not Jews, he tought Adam memory by naming the animals. Gods design not jews. Even the Torah is Gods not Jews, because God told Daniel, Jeremiah, Isaiah, moses to write scripture not jews.

Well, you are writing yourself, that the Jews played a crucial part in the history of text and memory. I guess, thats all he was pointing out. I did not hear him putting himself before god. And please do not ridicule other peoples faith. Judaism is the religion christianity was born from. So a little respect is indicated.
