In my opinion: Have to apply scientific concepts to emotional realisms to find practical truth. Inverse intellectualism would always appear self relivant. Story telling wouldn't offer much for the reality of life. Just inspiration & hope. It's just to whom reality would belong to. I met a Hindu philosophy teacher. His take was a Jewish person told someone not to do that because G-d was watching. Then he said beef is what the Temple priests & staff wanted for dinner. As grossly simple as it may be, G-d might've decided to use the decadents of Shem to reveal all sorts of complexities. So why play with blood? Why only domesticated food? Why all the culture inversion?

Moshiach is jewish indeed, but our materialism and arrogant self-love (yes, not all self-love is healthy, ask any narcissist!) has blinded us to Him, because He has truly come (through natural means, and through acts of charity, which are the true miracles, not the fancy displays of magic many wrongly believe), and he has opened the Door to Heaven: Our Minds. And each time we care for our neighbor, He returns in a way no other human being will ever be able to do, and anyone who claims or pretends to be Moshiach is simply a false god, because a true Moshiach sees God in Others and Serves them, not just himself. So yes: Freedom is a basic element in the environment of that dimension we call Heaven, and until we free ourselves from our vain wordly desires, we won't even get a glimpse of that Kingdom.

It is my sense that Meshiah came in 1948. How is this? G-d announced to Pharoah that Israel is His Firstborn Son. Then when the tabernacle was dedicated, Aaron was anointed and then his sons and they in turn blessed and sprinkled the congregation. Shoots from the olive tree of Jesse will be branches to head the government to build up the tabernacle of David. Those individual leaders will lead the nation until HASHEM comes with his holy ones. Where and when does Elijah come? Ezekiel says HASHEM will give us the King who will never die. Interesting that you mention the Alter Rebbe; I believe he is also reputed to have said "The Moshiach that is coming you will not want, and the Moshiach you want will not be coming" or words to that effect. Regarding the early coming of Moshiach, there is also that passage in Isaiah 59:16 " And He saw that there was no man, and was astonished that there was no intercessor; therefore His own arm brought salvation unto Him; and His righteousness, it sustained Him; " . Regarding current conditions, there are the previous paragraphs: " 11 We all growl like bears, and mourn sore like doves; we look for right, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far off from us. 12 For our transgressions are multiplied before Thee, and our sins testify against us; for our transgressions are present to us, and as for our iniquities, we know them: 13 Transgressing and denying the LORD, and turning away from following our God, speaking oppression and perverseness, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood. 14 And justice is turned away backward, and righteousness standeth afar off; for truth hath stumbled in the broad place, and uprightness cannot enter. 15 And truth is lacking, and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey.
