Outstanding lecture Dr Abramson! I have benefited from many hours of your teachings, but this talk is amazingly timely in that we have a new Chabbad house & Rabbi in town who I met with for coffee a few weeks back. I have been saying, “I need a teacher” for months. He has invited me to study Tanya with him & I can barely contain my excitement. Thank you for another great lecture.

Today is the Alter Rebbe's Hillullah. I guess you ran out of time. But, a very important chapter in his life was his avid support of the Russian Empire in the war vs Napoleon. To the point that he had to flee Napoleon's army, became ill on the road, and eventually passed on the 24th of Tevet. However, his descendants received special status from the Tzar due to his contributions to the Empire. Amazing lecture though! - thank you! I'm a subscriber

It should be noted the reason the Alter Rebbe's Shulchan Aruch is incomplete is because large parts of it were lost. Originally, it was an update to the entire Shulchan Aruch.

The concept of eating before davening only started later in the time of the Tzemach Tzedek the 3rd Lubavitcher Rebbe and grandson of the Alter Rebbe. It was a response to a case where the his daughter in-law (at the time 18) the wife of the next Rebbe the Maharash was sick and instructed by her physician to eat breakfast as soon as she wakes up in the morning. The next day she woke up extra early so she could daven first and then eat. After hearing this the Tzemach Tzedek said to her "A Jew must be healthy and strong. Regarding mitzvot, the Torah says: 'Live in them,' meaning, one should bring vitality into the performance of the mitzvot. To be able to infuse mitzvot with vitality, one must be strong and joyful." He concluded: "You should not be without food. Better to eat for the sake of praying than to pray for the sake of eating..." www.chabad.org/library/article_cdo/aid/932599/jewish/Eating-Before-Praying.htm

I'm wondering why Dr. Abramson uses that picture of the Baal Shem Tov when it's not the Baal Shem Tov at all. of course it's a common error but surely the Doctor must know the actual history of that painting.

I am an Australian whatever that may mean to you but I have been approached by Colel Chabad and I am sending money to help the sick and the poor in Israel. To me, it is beyond my comprehension to think that there are sick and poor in Israel. They base it on 1788 teachings. That is when Australia was discovered. Am I sending my money on a worthy quest. I stopped sending money to anyone when I was twenty.I had been donated my wages for five years. I found out then the people running the Save the Children's Fund ran off with all the money. Why didn't you mention in detail the famous account from the Brisk tradition about the 2 Chassidic leaders one of them The Baal HaTanya visiting Vilna and trying to meet theVilna Gaon and bring true Shalom between the Chassidim and Mitnagdim? 🕋Ramadan 2021 Continues "Happy Mother's Day Everyone"🎓 Happy Mother's Day To Me.🎓 Happy Mother's Day To You.🎓 And many more.🎓 Being a mom can be physically and emotionally exhausting. Just when you think you can’t take another minute, something else comes along that requires your energy and effort. But the good news - the truth - is that you can find rest in the Lord. Heavenly Father, I come to you today, humble and exhausted, and ask that you carry my burdens. I pray that you lift my weary spirit and fill me with your love and peace so that I may be restored and renewed in body and mind. Lord, pour your heavenly nourishment into my soul and give me the energy to sustain me in my role as a mother. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” - Matthew 12:28 It dawned on me this morning at dawn. I am suspicious that allowing the statute of limitations run out on crimes that have been committed is one of the causes and reasons for the orchestrated forced closures, forced separations from family, forced disruption of family relationships, family ties, and forced covenant breaking, forced breaking up of households. I am suspicious about the closed criminal cout trials. The Evil One is still in place unmoved by all of our valiant efforts to save the day. What are we gonna do now? Ramadan: World Crime Contunues. The Foundations of World Crime go deep. The Foundations of World Crime are still in place unmoved by all of our heroic efforts. The roots of World Crime go deep, and the poisonous tree of World Crime spreads its branches spread all over the world. The Foundations of World Racism go deep. The roots of World Racism go deep and the poisonous tree of World Racism and Reverse Racism spreads its branches all over the world throughout every latitude and longitude of the globe. Ramadan: World Corruption Continues. The Foundations of World Corruption go deep. The roots of the poisonous tree of World Corruption corruption go deep and the branches spread all over the world. Ramadan: World War Continues The Foundations of World War go deep. The roots of World War go deep and its branches spread all over the world. The Roots of the poisonous tree of World Corruption go deep and the branches spread all over the world. I feel as if I am resisting and opposing the United States Department of Defense whose foundations go deep and whose roots go deep, and whose branches spread all over the world, every latitude and longitude of this earth knows us. I feel as if I must oppose The United States Department of Defence international constituences who aim to annihilate us without pity or mercy. Any normal person would, should and must oppose the armies of international constiuencies out to obliterate us from the face of the earth. It is my suspicion that this what they intend to do, obliterate us if we don't "fight like hell." I agree with President Trump totally on the issue of National Defense. I feel as if I am opposing the United States Congress and the United States Senat because of their untoward international constituencies. I an suspicious that their only aim is the total, and complete annihilation and obliteration of the United States of America. What some people would like to do is to offer these international constituency armies appeasements humam sacrifices of extermination of specific segments of the population. Such as every one over 30 may be exterminated, the aging, the chronically ill, the ugly people, the freaks, the cripples, the mentally ill, the terminally ill, etc.Suicides are encouraged. These people are useless anyway. Their lives are not worth saving. Their lives are not worth living. Anybody who has any type of flaw has no right to live, no right to use up space, and water, and air, and food that could be given to others. This is how they honestly feel. And then also appease them with a promise to prevent re-production and re-population among the offspring of those who are exterminated, by sterilizing their descendants. This would also prevent the discovering that their parents or grand parents were disavowed and murdered, assasinated in their hospital beds. Assinated in their welfare hotel. Assinated in their nursing home bed. Assasinated in the operating room. Assasinated in the casting couch. Assassinated in their prison cell. Assassinated in their jail cell. Assassinated in the infirmery. Assasinated in the barracks. Assassinated on the battle field to get their life insurance money and split it up several ways. Assassinated in the line of duty to get their life insurance money and split it up several ways, make a down payment on a new house, and a new wife or a new husband waiting on the side. I am suspicious about such. I don't think that things just happen of themselves. They have help. My home town is Los Angeles, California. Right now I am struggling the closed, secret trials and hearings of inmates and defendants. The public does to have access to public trials. I am struggling with the fact that prisoners cannot receive visits from their loved ones, their wives, husbands, children, their parents. I am struggling with feelings of deep distress and anxiety and regarding the suspicion of abuse of inmates at the County Jail and in the state prisons. I am struggling with feelings of despair and depression about suspicions of negligence in the care and handling of prisoners, defendants and inmates in the correctional system Military Prisons, Federal Prisons, State Prisons, LAPD Detention. Center, The Federal Detention Center, The LA County Jails, the City Jails, The holding cells. I am struggling with feelings of fear and distress and anxiety for their safety while they are in custody. I am struggling with feelings of suspicion of the people who work in these correctional facilities. I am struggling with feelings of depression, manic depression regarding these issues of rotten correctional officers. Rotten Sheriff's Deputies, Rotten probation officers. They have become a cast system and I just don't like that. Who do they that they are abusing people like. As a mother, I can tell you definitely I am on the under dog, the person killed or brutalized. I remember the story of that homeless woman who was punch around, knocked down and beaten up on the Freeway by California Highway 🚓 Patrol Officer. I felt sorry for her not for that officer. It's not even a close call. He did wrong. He tortured that poor homeless woman. I felt that he was beating on himself. I wanted somebody to come to her defense then and there, and equalize the situation, it wasn't a fair fight. The officers opponant didn't even know how to fight or defend herself at all. He took an unmanly advantage of her, because he was bigger and stronger, and he had the State at his back, so he could just do any thing he wanted to do to her. Unmanly brute. I was really about that, and I get angry every time I think about it as if it is happening right now. These scenes of violence are very frightening. But I have met some of the people in uniform, and who work for the government. On the whole, they really seem to have a lot of freaky emotional problems of their own, mentally unbalanced, personality disorders, drunkenness, inebriation, medication issues, personality disorders, marriage and family problems, financial problems, ego problems, borderline mentally retarded. Do these freaky emotional problems go with the job? I certainly would hesitate to socialize with them outside of the job. It's probably something in me that mistrust them. I am suspicious of the dichotomy that I see. Nature doesn't like a vacuum and people and professionals seem to be continually living in a vacuum. And I seem to be at cross-purposes with them constantly, and yet the represent the authority and power of the state. I love my country, but I am terribly upset and freaked out and ambivalent and anxious about these uniformed people who represent the power and authority of the state. I don't feel safe with them. Shouldn't that be the other way around? Intangibles; Mysticism Yes, O yes it has something to do with "intangibles". It has something to do with Kabalistic Mysticism. It has something to do with African Mysticism. It had something to do with Hindu Mysticism. It has something to do with Christian Mysticism. It has something to do with Islamic Mysticism. It has something to do with Greek Mysticism. It has something to do with Roman Mysticism. It had something to do with Native American Mysticism. It has something to do with Oriental Mysticism. It has something to do with Central and South American Mysticism. It has something to do with the Spanish Mystics.Mystics live in a vacuum. 🔯🕉🛐🕎🕊🆔♑♍♎♏♋♊♉♈♌📿🕋🕌🕍🇰🇷🇯🇵🇩🇪🇨🇳🇺🇸🇫🇷🇪🇸🇮🇹🇷🇺🇬🇧 ✝ Sincerely, gospelgirl
