Some Pokemon are human spirits, though. The best examples are Yanmask and Phantump. The mask that a Yanmask carries is the face they had when they were once alive in the era they lived in, sometimes they look at their own mask and cry. Phantumps are spirits of children who got lost in the forest.

I never really understood why people call the Gameboy Camera faces a easter egg or secret. Its just part of the game...the entire game is crazy randomness. Also the Gameboy printer had a secret. If you pushed the print button a few times without having anything to print, it prints out a secret message.

I think the guy in the boat has a simple explanation. Sewer system were minimal or none existent in Paris/France during that period of time. Rats would be present in huge number in the street of Paris. The man in question probably lost his family (the corpse in the boat) and he wanted to protect the bodies to get "eaten" by rats so he went in the middle of the water with a dozen cats in his boat in case rats would swim to his boat (a thought brought by sorrow, mourning and paranoia)

Love your videos, and have been a fan for a long time! I have my degree in programming with an emphasis on game development (though that isn't my current career, go figure), and I have two cents about the ghost girl in Omega Ruby. It's possible they wanted to experiment with camera angles a bit, and it's a lot easier to just spawn in a model and attach a camera to it, than step by step animating the camera itself to do exactly what you want it to. Especially given that the models all had their animations programmed and attached already. It's like... sticking a go-pro on a skateboarder's helmet as opposed to sprinting with a camera alongside them, I guess? First ghost girl is straight up freaky, though.

I think we've had dead humans as Pokemon as early as Gen 5, with Yamask being souls that look at their mask (which was their face in life) and cry. Phantump are souls of lost children who died in forests, and I think Sword and Shield retconned Gengar's evolution line to also be dead humans. Some become Pokemon and some don't. It's weird, but I'm here for scary implications in kids games.

I think the cat thing might be a reference to Tarrare, a man who lived in revolutionary era France and had an insatiable appetite. He was known to eat cats and corpses among other things. His story is as sad as it is horrifying, so look it up at your own risk

For the assasins creed unity boat one, there was a presentation once for an ubisoft game(i think watchdogs legion), and one of the level designers was interviewed. She revealed that she worked on unity and decided to put a boat or place full of cats, for no particular reason, in all the games she has worked. So there is that.

Hey I can explain the ghost girl in Phoebe's room. That is likely a reference to her dead sister who was driven to suicide by a litwick in the manga. This would also explain the addition of a Chandelure to Phoebe's post-game team. Phoebe later caught and trained the litwick to avoid it tormenting further people. Also human ghosts actually have a history back to Gen 4 believe it or not!

The creepy faces from the Game Boy Camera make whole heap lot more sense when you realize that the camera was developed by Creatures Inc. AKA former APE Inc. AKA some of the key people behind MOTHER 2/EarthBound. Hence the "RPG" mechanics that the peripheral has as interface. Y'know, the game with the red spiral, evil universal cosmic destroyer as the final boss of a mostly cheerful and colorful adventure? Yeah.

For the Pokémon thing, I imagine ghost Pokémon is like DBZ hell rules, where if your evil, you lose your form. Alternatively the more stubborn Pokémon, like the dead Cubone’s mother thing. The worst thing about the Gameboy Camera faces was the music that accompanied them, *especially* the one with the finger on their lips "dont be silly" they said after a 9 year old yeets his birthday present out the car window. In Pokémon Black and White , there was a ghost that appeared on one of the bridges. If i recall correctly, its heavily implied that they committed suicide after jumping.

The ghost on the bridge was the girl from the Cresselia Lunar Wing event. She didn't jump, but she waited on the bridge to try to see Cresselia and give it the Lunar Wing, until she eventually passed on.

The "ghost girl" is just the astral projection of the mystic hex girl sleeping in the Battle Chateau(?)...I think? I'm pretty sure that's where I remember seeing her, it was **somewhere** in the game; she says something along the lines of "I'm looking for someone" while she's still asleep & it's obvious that she's projecting herself out into the world while she's sleeping looking for somebody. It is that same girl's projection which you see in the elevator as she says, "No, you're not the one".

Gen 6 wasn't the first Gen that delved into human ghosts out in the open, Gen 5 actually did it first, with the ghost girl in the bridge that's the same one as the girl from the Strange House. I personally think that's the best ghost situation in all of Pokemon.

Isn't it weird that data miners have not found the reason of the Pokémon XY ghost girl being there? There was a theory that "The one" referred to a specific Trainer ID but they would have found it by now by data mining. I now fully believe that she's there for the sole purpose of messing with us and that there no "one".
